Good Morning from the 45th. It’s snowing. Again! Only this time it’s not going to add up to much,maybe 2-5”. Anne, you west coast folks are so generous But you folks are having your issues too. As are those everywhere else it seems. The “Big Muddy” is going to be going on a rampage once all those rivers flooding up the system start emptying into it. The Weather Channel folks are saying to hang in there as Friday is the first day of “Meteorological Spring”:the gauge meteorologists use rather than the Calendar based on the Equinoxes. They go by the changes in the atmosphere and other things, like days are getting longer, sun is getting higher in the sky, temps are gradually warming up (someplace ), jet stream storm tracks are changing as are the types of storms and Nature is starting to shake off winter. I think it’s used by meteorologist in the north more than other places. I know I am seeing those signs as March comes on.

Staying in today. Want to get back to my house cleaning and get that closet rod up in the office room. Heating contractor has a tech coming out today to check over the new boiler, run some tests to make sure it’s operating correctly etc. it’s a courtesy follow up after installation.

Been doing some looking at campsites at a State Park a friend and I want to make reservations for soon as our reservation system gets the new park information and map into it’s system. They are making site changes so numbers and site dimensions will be changing as well as electrical upgrades this spring. Supposedly we can start reserving tomorrow. But two sites we want to try to get, I noticed last night are pull throughs and no rigs under 35’ allowed. Maybe that will change with the new info. I can see the reasoning as the layout of this park doesn’t really have room for big rigs. Hence they are going to eliminate some sites and go from 112 down to 95 to accommodate bigger rigs and slideouts Etc. Etc. It like a lot of parks were built back in the days before trailers were the “in” thing like they are now. But anyway, spotted another couple possibilities. Or we may go to another park instead. This one will only be operating half the park at a time this year due to all the upgrades. So it’s are going to be harder to get into.

Guess I had better get into the shower and get going here. Ave a nice day everyone.

Ok. This is beginning to get ridiculous. Got another 4” of snow overnight. I like adventure, but this is too much. I had doctor appointment at 8:30 this morning but cancelled or delayed per recorded message. See late posting I made late yesterday on Tuesday morning coffee. This place is still a mess and will be for weeks of cleaning up branches on ground and dangling from trees.

At least I have power. More later.

Good grief, Judy! I agree that you have had enough snow already, on top of all the branches breaking off the trees. I hope you get some relief soon.

It is 77 in Ocala and we'll top off around 78. It's cloudy now and we have more rain moving in late this afternoon. The weather people are saying we could get isolated down pours. It rained most of yesterday as well. This has been a really wet and cool winter again, the second year in a row. But it's still better than the weather at our home in MD, so I need to have a more positive outlook. We needed dinner napkins and went to Walmart this morning. The only decorative ones I could find had snow flakes on them, so I put them back and we got the regular white ones.

We're going to go outside and enjoy the warm dry weather while we still it. Enjoy your day!

Judy, you are in a mess. Having snow where they don't usually have snow is not good. I could just see Louisiana with a foot of snow. Most of the people can't drive in the rain. If you can get out of the campground will the roads be open? I have one of the flat TV antennas that I put in a window or hang from the rearview mirror. You have to be within about 25 miles of a station but it works about as well as the one on the roof.

Irmi, you will be getting the rain that came through here last night. There was a chance of hail so I had put all the vehicles under a roof. I heard it raining but haven't been out to see what's in the gauge. It's 72 and will probably be warmer this afternoon. There is a cold front coming this weekend and I saw a low of 32 predicted for Tuesday night. The people going to parades Monday and Tuesday better bundle up.

I made up for getting up early yesterday. I woke up with a headache at 6:00. Got up and took aspirin and got an ice bag. Went back to sleep until 10:30 and feel better.

I want to get propane in the motorhome and the only place I know is the KOA in Lafayette. The propane place in town closed and I think all the other places just have the bottles. There is probably someplace I don't know about.

This has been a tough unusual winter for many places around the country this year!

I don't work until 5pm so will finish cleaning up the porch and a few other things today before then. Am still waiting to find out when and where to pick up the ferret food and supplies so I coordinate the transfer of it to Phoenix. I was told there is enough food for 500 ferrets! I doubt I can fit all that in my car but will take what I can.

I can't find a phone number or address for my nephew or his fiance to let them know I am cancelling my RSVP to their wedding. I sent a text message to my SIL to let her know and asking for an address to send their gift and card. So far, no response. I am wondering if I can message his fiance on FB even tho I am not "friends" with her? (I sent a friend request awhile back but she never accepted it). I might just send an email to my other SIL and let her know so she can pass the message on for me. I would call, but they never answer their phone either.

I also tried to cancel my motel reservations in Atascadero for that weekend but can't remember which motel I made them at. I have called all the motels in that town (not very many of them) and none of them show a reservation for me then. So am just hoping I don't get charged for the room if I missed one. I am pretty sure it was a small motel on the main street of town but I contacted each of them and no reservations.

Hi Martha! We just had the first down pour of the afternoon and the skies are still very gray and overcast. It's too humid to not have the a/c going.

Barbie, I'm guessing that since the hotel you reserved is so small they didn't send an email confirmation? We're making lots of reservations across the country and most of them are sending confirmations. I hope you don't get charged.

Barbie, did you have to leave a deposit? If you did look on your credit card bill. I am getting so forgetful that I have to write on my calendar when I made a reservation and for what dates. I use to be able to put off reservations to the last minute but campgrounds are starting to fill up. I looked at the local campground and this weekend is full and I don't think anything special is going on. Well, Mardi Gras is going on but didn't know that filled up the campgrounds. I know it's hard to get into a hotel.

Walked around the RV park and took some more photos of damage, so I just updated my blog. Several rigs have already been moved out for repairs and there are several others that still have limbs on their roofs. The thing is that these may be tree "limbs," but a lot of them are as big as most trees.

Other good news is that they shoveled me out so I can go out for propane and groceries on Friday. Also, my satellite disk is free of the extra 4" of snow we had last night, and I am now getting TV! Yea!

I was lazy this morning so accomplished nothing today.. played games and came home...that about sums up my day. My niece called and we had a good chat forgot till now that I was going to call my mom guess I will do that tomorrow... warmed up enough that I will have to start leaving a window open when I go so it doesn't get too hot inside. The generator part is going to cost me a lot more than I planned I fear. But will hope it's not awfully bad. could have sworn that I posted last night but now I don't remember seeing it. oh well ... when they installed direct TV somehow they unhooked the wires to the antenna so unless it's on satellite or cable I don't have tv in the living room DH figured out how to get it in the bedroom but didn't show me how. Never watch tv in bed anyway.
it was so nice today not to have a jacket on but guess I will need to get it...I am so used to long sleeves that my arms are cold
more of what I said last night is coming back to me such as not sure when I will be able to return to Idaho because of the snow.. where I park at is right now a snow field then it will be a mud field then has to dry out ... so I might either stay here longer than normal or linger longer in Utah... cheaper down here but there comes a time when the desire to be near family comes up and am ready to go... that and the great grand baby is due in early May

I finished the porch this afternoon and then flea fogged it before leaving for work.

My roommate apparently decided to paint something again and did it on the carpet on the outside porch and didn't bother to put anything down underneath it, so now I have red paint on the carpet out there. I just don't understand how she can not know enough to put something under what she is spray painting! I don't know how I will get that out of the carpet. Maybe paint thinner? The bricks out back that she painted on last fall, I asked her to replace them but she just turned them upside down so you can't see the red paint so well.

Have a few more spring cleaning projects around here inside and then will start tackling the outside, but sounds like we are in for more rain this coming weekend and then again next Wednesday thru Friday.

There is major flooding in Northern California right now with lots of evacuations happening along the Russian River. Ann, is that anywhere near you?

My next door neighbor is an older woman who is on dialysis and also has cancer. Very sweet but quiet woman. She had to move out of her house a couple weeks ago because they found a ton of mold in the walls. Not sure if she had a roof leak or what but there has been a crew over there for the past two weeks working on it. They have pretty much gutted the whole house. Must have been really bad!

I have to open the shop tomorrow so need to get to bed soon here. Still haven't heard back from the guy about the ferret stuff. I just need to know where and when to pick it up.

No, I'm not anywhere near the Russian River. Thank goodness! I am near the Feather River, north of Sacramento. The Russian River flooding area is near to the coast, about 75 miles north of San Francisco.

The Feather is behaving itself for the moment, hoping it continues. Oroville Reservoir continues to fill very rapidly with all the rain we have been having. Lake Oroville is a massive lake, lake level has increased from 740 feet a week or so ago, up to 794 feet this evening. When it rises to 815 feet it will have risen to the floodgates.

There are a couple of things that folks here are paying attention to (not yet worrying about, but definitely paying attention):

There is a truly massive amount of snow all through the Sierra this year, a lot more than is normal, particularly that part of the Sierra that drains into Oroville Reservoir. So long as incoming storms stay cold, we are good. Cold storms just means more snow in the Sierra.

Definite problems might come if we get a series of major storms that are also warm (temp of storms depend on where they come from in the Pacific Ocean - storms originating in the Gulf of Alaska are generally cold. Storms originating in the Pacific around the Hawaiian Islands are generally warm.)

If we get a series of heavy, warm storms (as can happen this time of year ) conditions will change.

Heavy warm rain, on top of the deep snow pack will cause rapid melting of the snowpack (and has done in the past). Snow melting all at once (due to warm rain falling on deep snow in the Oroville watershed), means a LOT of water running down the mountains into Oroville Reservoir.

When Oroville Reservoir gets too full, then they open the flood gates to keep the water from over-topping Oroville dam. With the floodgates open, the Feather River, already full from a series of storms, begins to creep up the levees when the floodgates are opened (opened floodgates adds more water - sometimes a LOT more) to the Feather River.

It's when we have a major snowpack in the Oroville Reservoir watershed (like we do right now), see a series of incoming warm storms (like maybe next week), and opening floodgates at Oroville dam (maybe pretty soon), that we all start to get just a tiny bit "antsy".

And, if an earthquake should happen, all bets are off. There is a known earthquake fault near the base of Oroville dam.
