Snowed-in Monday!!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

The ground is so saturated with all the rain we've had, that more rain will just run off now, which adds to more flooding.

I am just using some weed killer I got at WalMart with a small (very small) spray nozzle. I can spit more than what comes out of the nozzle on this thing! :o

Save money and make your own weed killer with vinegar. There are a few "recipes" and it might take a couple days before you see it working. But it does work. Here's one simple method:

Method 1 Using Vinegar as a Weed Killer
Buy white vinegar. ...
Mix the vinegar with 2 teaspoons (9.9 ml) dish soap. ...
Pour the mixture into a garden sprayer. ...
Choose a sunny day to spray weeds. ...
Spray directly onto the weeds. ...
Avoid spraying vinegar on desirable plants. ...
Clean the sprayer out after you finish.

JudyB, those photos are incredible. Glad your rig is in a safe spot.
Sue, you sure have your fair share of that white stuff too.
Karen, thanks for the link to that website. I've bookmarked it - what a great resource!
Lyn, hope it all clears up before you get on the road.
Barbie, at least the time must fly when you're that busy. Hope it calms down a little for you.
Beth, I've joined the vinegar band wagon - baking soda & vinegar are amazing for cleaning. I've scrubbed & scoured with other products, but when I used baking soda & vinegar, the results were amazing with minimal scrubbing. Woohoo!

Just enjoying the sunshine here before the rain resumes later in the week.
Take care, everyone.

Update: The snow has stopped and the cavalry, in the guise of the campground tractor, has done a little plowing of the roadway. Still some snow on the road, but better than it was and at least passable. Some people are leaving and others moving over to the pull-through area they rent to short-term people. Those sites are open so no danger from trees.

Also, most people have been able to remove some snow from their roofs. I still have a good 8" but a neighbor brushed it off my slide toppers and I put them in. A younger man who I will pay is going to come around and remove more of the snow. I do not want it to solidify into a solid chunk of ice overnight. It already has added a lot of weight to my roof. Also, I just started my generator so I can use my electric heaters and preserve my propane. I bought propane last Thursday and it is already half gone, so I want enough to last until the roads are better. I think I might leave my front slide in anyway because that will preserve the heat and eliminate the cold draft under it.

Another neighbor shoveled a narrow path for me so I do not have to walk through deep snow to get out. It is 38 outside right now, but will go down to 27 tonight and the high tomorrow is going to be just 40, so melting will be slow. The bad news is that I was scheduled for a test procedure tomorrow and they have cancelled it and rescheduled me for Monday, which means more time here in the cold. I did call Napa EXPO and add two days at the end, but have not got ahold of my son yet.

Also, I-5 is closed from a couple miles south of here almost to Grant's Pass. Plus, two main roads to the coast are also closed. And there is not an Uber to be seen on the Uber map! Usually, there are 7 or 8.

Judy, my friends went to a hotel until they can access the damage to their 5th wheel. Also she is a travel nurse at the hospital and was afraid she might not be able to get out to work tomorrow because of the downed trees if more fall tonite.

Glad you have some helpful neighbors. Love my RV neighbors always helpful. It will take them a while to clear 100 miles of downed trees on the I-5. they did open up northbound but southbound is still closed but they are working on it, god bless those workers for sure.

Rain has stopped here for now but think there is more to come. It has been a steady downpour all day so I am very happy our temps were in the 40's today or I would be snowed in also.

There are several traveling nurses who live here. For a resident-type RV park, I will have to say that this one is very well kept, as you can see from my photos. They do not allow junky RVs or people who turn their yards into dumping grounds. You are limited to outdoor things like barbecue grills and chairs outside--no stuff stored underneath your rig, etc.

If I had damage, I would also go to a hotel. Hope the snow did not come inside and damage anything. The trees have stopped falling, but I am told the roads in Eugene are horrible. I had a procedure scheduled for tomorrow morning and it was cancelled, which means I have to stay here a few more days. Rescheduled to Monday, so had to adjust Napa reservations, etc.

returned home from Vegas on Sat. will have to return as my sister has drs appt. that her son won't be able to take her too. So will be up there for a week plus hopefully they won't have a snow storm while up there haha
she text me and told me this was the coldest Feb in 50 years and they have already received 100 per cent of yearly rainfall. But in Q this week is suppose to be warmer like into the 70's can handle that.
was talking with my dd last night she asked when I was headed North said in April she said you might want to re think that... I was aware of the snow that they have been getting but just didn't soak in that it might not be melted and if it is if the mud field will be dried up by then. So trying to think of what I need to do...
Radio is stat-icy not sure if it needs new batteries or what was playing ok earlier perhaps if I plug it in and see what happens that might tell me...
You all take care of yourselves the weather is just having fun this winter... keeping us on our toes... someone posted a picture of some town some where I thought it was Donna but not sure now looked like either a tornado went through or a heavy wind storm
stay safe

I have lots of vinegar so will try that. Don't like the smell of it so don't want to use it inside. I use Dawn to clean everything and it works well for me.

Wasn't so busy today so was nice to slow down a little. Didn't get much done at home before going to work. Didn't even get to WM but nothing I can't live without for another day or so.

Sheila, is there someplace you can stay around Salt Lake City for awhile on the way back to Utah?

Good night!

We had steady rain starting around 1 PM. By 11:30 PM we had over an inch. I imagine our mountain freeways will be treacherous as well. Chris, and I had our dental checkups today and for once he didn't have a cavity. I never do but got a chipped crown smoothed.
I had a nagging feeling of worry all day because I knew my younger son might well be out in it going to and from school in MN , normally a 1 1/2 hour drive but this winter often double that each way. I had agreed after he showed me, if he was busy when I sent him a message that he would click it so it appeared as read, and that let me know he was ok. Well he had not clicked my yesterday message. Finally around 6 my time tonight I got a brief message saying he had gone fishing 3 mikes out on a lake ( his inlaws ice fishing house I imagine) and got stranded. Took him 24 hours to rescue himself but he made it to school then home with no sleep for 42 hours he said. He will call me tomorrow to fill me in. That's one of hose kid and Mom things where you are way better hearing about it after its over and they are safe!
Staying in and trying to get more paperwork done Tuesday while it rains. We are supposed to have a lot of wind but just breezy so far.
I'd really lke to make it to the Pow Wow, so I'll check the site. Wish I knew whether I'll be making a trip early fall to MN or not but wont know bless son gets a early job offer as to when he is available.
Stay safe everyone.

There is an Amtrak train that has been stranded in deep snow south of Eugene, Oregon, since Sunday. The snow is about four feet deep all around, and (so Amtrak says) there is not a viable way to rescue/remove the passengers, so there they sit.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/26/us/oregon-train-passengers-stranded-trnd/index.html

Current report states that they have run out of food as of this morning. I wouldn't want to be there, for sure.

Judy, be careful out there!

They have been rescued now, luckily! I loved this... "And passengers reported a "kumbaya" atmosphere during the ordeal." :D

had not heard of that train. glad that all is well although wonder why snow mobiles couldn't at least take supplies into them.
Barbie I was looking at your name and it dawned on me that my great granddaughter's name (at least at this moment) will have the same middle name not sure of the spelling but her name is Serenity Rose. my dd was going to name her baby that had he been a girl she has talked the parent's into it didn't have to talk hard though as they both like the name.
went to choir practice and indexing. was doing some draft registrations it can be interesting. some names one has to ponder how they are pronounced. Came home did dishes and washed the inside of the window above the desk. but have to do that from the outside ...wish there was an easy way to remove the screens and wash the windows. then the inside and outside of the window next to the kitchen sink ... I am not a really climb the ladder person... have become fearful as I get older not so my mom a few years ago she would scurry up a ladder. that is how she got compressed fractures... perhaps that is the lesson I learned. but then we all know I am a whoose
the rv mechanic came out took the offending part away and see if he can find another hopefully it's cheaper to fix than to buy a new generator. He says it is... will hope I have made the right decision.
I have really two choices I can stay in Q for longer then go North and stay in the mobile home park I stay in or go straight to Ogden and hang out at the above park till I can go further North. we will see... it would be cheaper to stay down here but then I have to make sure that there is someone that can assist me in hooking up the 5th wheel... not something I have learned to do on my own... I also have a wedding to attend end of April and that baby is due first part of May.
we will see what I decide to do.. but the hwy I would go to Tetonia on is closed today due to snow both falling and drifting. not sure if it was the whole day or just part of it but one of my nieces posted a picture of it . little over a month away so know that I pretty much will have to stay over some where longer than normal. oh well we will make do with it
