Blizzard Warning Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Blizzard Warning Sunday

Postby Colliemom » Sun Feb 24, 2019 11:24 am

Good Morning. Everybody sleeping in today? Taking a break from cleaning kitchen cupboards. Purging some glassware and few other things I haven’t used in years. How many glasses and sets of silverware does one person really need. This is stuff from when my parents were living, then we had dinners and company etc. Salvation Army store will be getting some donations. I’m getting empty shelves in some of my cupboards. I still have a really good set of dishes, serving bowls, platters etc. that we used for special ocassions, boxed up in my basement. Too good for donation type stuff. Am hoping maybe I can sell it all eventually.

We are under a Blizzard Warning till 7 a.m. tomorrow morning, but haven’t seen a snowflake as yet. Watching the Weather Channel as to what’s happening west and SW of here, I know what’s in store. We aren’t supposed to have a whole lot of snow, but the 40-60 mile an hour winds are going to be the big issue. It rained last night and there’s ice all over the sidewalks, Drive etc., again. But I’m not going out, so don’t care. Dogs aren’t happy though. They have to tread with caution and no walk. Mackinac Bridge is closed right now due to falling ice. It accumulates on the cables and towers and then when it warms up a bit, it comes crashing down on the bridge deck. Common occurrence in winter. It will probably be shut down when the storm hits too, with the high winds. It’s closed more than a lot of people realize due to weather conditions and you need to factor that in when going over or back from the U.P., as you never know.

Barbie, you got your new furnace. Now you should be open good shape. Judy, I can tell you are really looking forward to heading to Napa. Safe travels. Beth, thanks for posting the picture of the Dragoons, that was beautiful.

Time to get back to work and get the lower cabinets done. Then will go over them with lemon oil. Don’t know if I will finish it all today or not as I want to polish the countertops too, but we shall see. Just let Molly out and see it’s beginning to get breezy, colder and beginning to snow, so here it comes  Have a nice day all. Stay safe especially in the areas with the bad weather, flooding etc.

Aaahh! Sue! I feel for you in your soon to be snow cocoon! We are having another beautiful Texas winter day. Full on sunshine not even a breath of air....yet. It should be a gorgeous all day long. Need to enjoy as the rain is coming again soon. It is really pretty soggy out there as we have had a very wet winter. Rained yesterday. I expect in some parts of the south, including your area Martha, that there will be flooding this Spring. We should have flowers out the yazoo! Indian Paintbrush are already blooming on the road to the Rio Grande Valley. I saw them two weeks ago. Lots of ‘yellow’ flowers blanketing fields.

Beth, the Dragoons were awesome. I never saw them like that while I live out there. When it came in a snowed us in, i wasn’t out on the highway. I did seem them half melted once when I was birding down there. It is gorgeous when the mountains get snowed up on! Your pic really captured the beauty! Thanks for sharing.

Keep warm with your new heating system Sue. Barbie, you keep warm with yours too! Everyone, keep dry and warm. Enjoy everyday you have given to you.

Good morning gals!

I set the thermostat to 70 last night and was toasty warm all night! I will set it back down to 68 but just wanted to thaw out for one night first!

Got quite a bit done yesterday around here both inside and out. Spring cleaning! More sorting and organizing of misc boxes I haven't gone thru since I moved in here. Getting all my tools, etc organized too since I can never find what I need when I need it. I have 8 screwdrivers but can never fine one when I need one. Same with tape measures! Hopefully now they will all have a home and will find their way back there when I am done using things.

Sun is out and a slight breeze. Will be around 60 again today. I can live with that. Off to work this afternoon.

Stay safe, warm and dry today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Believe it or not, it is snowing here! Not sticking on the ground, but definitely snow. It is 37 outside right now and is not supposed to get below 35 tonight, but some might stick at least briefly. Snow is quieter on the roof than rain, but it messes up the satellite signal just as easily! Watching The Music Man for the umpteenth time, but it is still good!

Got a lot of work to do today, so better get to it!!

Cloudy cool day here. 52 degrees. Supposed to have wind and rain tomorrow. My handyman started work on back decks, repairing and bringing up to code. He is supposed to be here tomorrow but depends on rain. I worked on genealogy this morning, which I enjoy though it can be frustrating as I'm trying to find my Moms birth family as I'm curious if anyone knows the story of why she was given away. Hope all are safe and comfortable whether it's cold and you are staying warm or it's warm and you are staying cool! Besides dentist for us tomorrow, not too much excitement This week.
Have a good week everyone.

We lucked out of the rain yesterday. It rained on me in town but never did rain here. I should have put a jacket on to walk Hank today but it wasn't too cold. I had to turn the heat back on tonight. I decided to go fish at the pond this afternoon. I have been trying a couple of times a week for several months and was lucky if I even got a nibble. The fish were going crazy today. I lost count of how many perch I caught and one 6 inch bass. I am trying to catch the fish in the small pond and move them to the large pond. When it warms up I need to spray the weeds in the small pond again. Tomorrow I need to mow again.

I was watching Victoria on PBS and for some reason they played the same episode back to back. I like Victoria but not enough to watch it twice in a row. The Oscars were on but it doesn't do me any good to watch that since I never see any of the movies.

I think I have snow on my satellite dish because I missed Victoria. No signal at all. And I am NOT going on my roof to sweep it away!

Snow has been sticking to the ground since about 4 pm and supposed to snow all night. I am supposed to go into physical therapy at 8:30 am tomorrow, driving my RV. I hate to spend the money on Uber, so I hope the roads are OK.
