Last Friday of February

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Friday of February

Postby Colliemom » Fri Feb 22, 2019 6:53 am

Morning everyone. Another month almost over, another year going to fly by. Barbie, sorry to hear about your furnace. Hope it’s not an overly expensive item for you out there. But yes, it should help with your heating bills. I was surprised at how much you said your last bill was considering you live in a much warmer area than I do this time of year. You were al ost double what I aid here. Do you have natural gas heat? The techs came yesterday and are installing my new boiler but weren’t able to finish it by end of the day. So I have two heaters going in the house here. It’s cool in here, but with two bedrooms closed off for now, I can deal with it. Was comfortable sleeping last night. Temp is around 18 outside, don’t know what it is in here. But it’s like cool weather camping in my trailer where you need to keep furnace going and try to keep the trailer warm, only I call it house camping  They will be here this morning to finish it up so I should have heat by noon. Don’t think I will take a shower this morning though as I prefer not to turn into an icicle

Made another set of camping reservations yesterday. Now just have to tie up the loose ends at either side of that one. Am waiting for one of the State Parks to have their new site numbers and other information to get into the reservation system so they cam start taking reservations. They are getting electrical upgrades and site renovations done this spring so only part of the park will be open this spring, then close in July and the other part opened up.

So,that’s the only excitement going on here at the moment. Y’all have a great day out there.

Oh my Sue hope they get you heat back on soon and I would definitely skip the shower this morning.

Barbie sorry about have to replace your furnace. If it is as old and rusted as they said, that could be the source of your headaches! Do you have a good carbon monoxide meter?

Still mostly muddy, gloomy and rainy here and forecast is the same for the next decade.....at least it isn't snow.

Chilly morning here 23° and clear, but usually the fog comes in for a few hours and that makes the roads slick from freezing fog. But they say sunshine today. Which is a good thing as I am going over to help Malia's daughter button up the Motorhome and put it in the storage row until April. She knows nothing about RV's but she is learning LOL Will keep the car here for now. If Malia's friend is able to take the RV to Texas she is comfortable towing the car so then it will all be in Texas. Angelique will spend the night here and then will take her to the airport in the am.

I have to go over and do Motorhome maintenance this week. The generator needs its exercise and will pull all the sheets so I can wash them and then get the Motorhome stocked with some things as I leave the end of March for a week or so. Time to get er ready and spiffed as soon as it warms up. Getting dewinterized on the Mar 21st and will go by the local tire place to have all the tires checked for air, etc. I need to put my Tire Pressure Monitor and sensors back on the RV and my toad. I dont leave until the 27th but I hate leaving everything until the last minute.

Barbie I am sure your elec bill will go down with the new more efficient furnace. I replaced my heat pump and furnace several years ago as mine had the original also, I noticed a big change in my bill. However, as I use less electricity I think my cost of electric goes up each year. They installed the Smart Meter last year and I did notice my bill go down.

Yes, this year is zipping right along. There are so many people camping that I am finding it harder to get camp sites. I just checked the local state park and there are only 4 out of 96 sites open. The dutch oven group is cooking cracklins tomorrow. When there is something going on it fills up the park. The state parks are starting to put in a few camp sites with sewer. Of course, those are $5 more and almost impossible to get. I don't mind being able to camp for $14 a night with my America The Beautiful pass and use the dump station.

I had some part in the central unit get hot and start smelling about a year ago. Of course, they had to give me an estimate for a new unit. I think something that costs that much should last more than 12 years. I had to replace the hot water heater too a couple of years ago. The water heater in our old house lasted over 20 years. They put the cheapest parts in this house. Have changed the kitchen faucet too.

The sun is actually shining today for the first time in about a week. I need to get dressed. I have to bring Stinky for her shots at 11:00. I hope she doesn't make her usual mess in the kennel.

Good morning from sunny hot FL. Weather has tied or broken heat record every day since Sunday. With the humidity matching or exceeding the high temperatures it is uncomfortable. Still much better than weather at home: record rainfall, widespread flooding and it is not over yet.
Have enjoyed being out in RV again for first time since this time last year. Great time meeting up with friends I only get to see once a year. Several more visits planned before I have to go home at end of March.

I am still in bed with both cats curled up next to me. Had the space heater running most of the night. Should start warming up in here without it since the sun is out today. The temps at night have been close to freezing. Sue, I would be worried about pipes freezing in your home without heat and getting that cold at night. Hope they get yours fixed today too.

Have some things to get done today before going to work later this afternoon. Moving around should get me warmed up more!

The haircut sale hasn't been too successful mostly due to the rain and cold. People around here really hunker down when it gets like that. They aren't thinking about needing a haircut when it is cold out. Today is the last day of the sale. Might be busier with the sun and a bit warmer temps today and people getting ready for the weekend.

Sarah, am glad you are staying in FL for awhile. Sounds like awful weather back home.

BJ, yes I do have a carbon monoxide detector, altho I need to move it since it is up near the ceiling and I was told they need to be down by the floor.

Have a good day! :D

I started to post this morning, but got interrupted. Snow here when I woke up after lots of rain and snow/rain continuing all day with some short breaks. Got my shoes and socks, thus feet, soaked walking Ty this morning. He could care less about snow and likes to avoid puddles.

Cable tv is down in the park. Through Dish and it turns out they have lots of outages in Arizona and other areas this storm has hit. I still have my DirectvNow on my phone, so watching a movie on it right now.

I am late, as usual. I had an appointment at the ophthalmologist on Wednesday and had all the tests for cataract surgery. They should call me in the next few days to set up an appointment, probably in late May. He is going to set me up for one week apart since i said I need to see to grade papers. Plus, I knew my eyelids were droopy and making it hard for me to open my eyes fully, so I need to see the doctor in their office who does eyelids. That is a lot less important than the cataracts, so I am guessing maybe late summer? I was in a car accident many, many years ago and cut my eyelids, so I know stitches there are very painful--not looking forward to it.

Along with my mammogram scheduled for next Thursday just before I head south, I am getting a much-needed tune-up!

Just got home from work. It was crazy busy all afternoon and evening being the last day of the haircut sale.

So I get home expecting a nice warm house. Nope! No new furnace  If they called me, I was way too busy to check my phone and my voicemail isn't working right now, but they didn't send me a text message either. Will have to call them in the morning and see what is going on. My roommate was home all day but she is very sick and I haven't had a chance to ask her if they even showed up at all. So back to using the space heater tonight.

I have tomorrow off. Gotta get some cleaning done around here. Supposed to be around 60 and partly cloudy so a little improvement. I read that it snowed in Malibu and other areas around LA. Crazy weather! More snow in Las Vegas and tons of snow in northern Arizona.

Off to bed...

weather report from Vegas ... no moisture of any kind and sun very few clouds but cold and windy... can deal with it . going home tomorrow at least that is the plans. We will hope that it happens. however have to return in a couple of weeks my sister has some drs appt. her son can't drive her yet he can take ubber or perhaps a neighbor but ds needs either someone to drive her car and handle the wheelchair (meaning put it in the car and take out and push it with a larger body in it) so not just anyone can do it. and those at church that would be available in the daytime probably wouldn't be able to do it...talking little old ladies... which some day's that is what I feel like
Hopefully tomorrow will see them there with your new heater... you didn't say or if you did I missed it is it electric or gas?
Got the yarn to start a new afghan not sure I am loving the colors though guess we will see when I've done a few rows
was going to make some cookies today but needed to do some running around pick up some stuff that my sister was afraid she would run out of then I made chicken pot pie turned out pretty good made a huge pie wonder if it will get warmed up and eaten
