Another Cold Saturdsy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Cold Saturdsy

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jan 26, 2019 8:00 am

Good Morning! How’s everyone this morning? Hard to believe it’s the last weekend of January. Another year is going to fly by. Nature is getting down to some serious winter weather here finally. Snow, wind, cold, -10right now. This coming week will be even colder and snowier. But we have had some rather mild and wimpy weather way longer than normal, so can’t complain. The winter sports scene is going gangbusters right now, even with the cold temps. We don’t stay in, we just bundle up more. I’m waiting for the temp to rise above zero and then will go clear snow from a neighbors drive and check heat at another neighbors. Then of course there’s the daily dog walk. Short but sweet in this weather.

Made another camping reservation yesterday, now waiting for a State Park that is getting all new electrical system and site renovations to have their new map and site numbers put on to the online reservation system, so reservations can be taken. In the meantime, have 2 more to make when the window opens in a couple weeks.

Basement project is wrapping up, few minor things to do and done. Time for spring cleaning and some painting upstairs now. Just trying to decide on colors for two bedrooms.p and make some cosmetic changes here and there. Want to get things done before spring weather and camping season arrives.

So have a nice day, enjoy it no matter what. There is always something good in it If you look.

Good morning all. Sue, wish I could enjoy this cold weather like you seem to! On the up side, I guess, we aren’t as cold as you! I had a huge pile of snow and muck frozen at the end of my driveway from the 9” we got last week. No way my car could get over it. Luckily we had a rain and warmer temps that helped melt it some so I finally got out and managed to break it up with a yard shovel and can finally get in and out! Called a guy about using his plow to break it loose for me and he said $50 to do it. Explained that it wasn’t the whole drive but still $50! Nope, don’t think he wanted to do it so I politely said no thank you and figured I’d figure out how to do it myself! The price I pay for living on a state road! The plows do a good job keeping the road clear but sadly any driveways get blocked! So that’s my sad story!
Been following the posts from Q and especially loved the donkeys! They are so cute! And belated birthday wishes to Barbie, Shelia and Cheryl! What a great way to celebrate! Carol, glad Bill is on the mend.
Not much else to jabber about here. Just glad January is almost over and spring is that much closer! So will get busy and get the day going! Coffee is always here and your welcome to join me in the cold! Have a great weekend and hope you find something fun to do!

Oh, Sue, I read your message a few minutes after I woke up... Had only pottied and turned my heat up before crawling back into bed to read here. You exhausted me lol.

I feel for you folks with the snow and cold. Brrrr. The snow I would find gorgeous, if it didn't cause work. I'm so over doing that lol Sharon, I have not so fond memories of shoveling then the plow, then that mess at the end of the driveway.

Our group here is dwindling. Tina leaves today (if she hasn't already while I linger this morning). I'm probably pulling out tomorrow, but possibly Monday. Lyn on Monday. It will leave the wintering part of the group with out us visiting women rver's.

Ty just popped out from under the covers. I guess he's ready to start the day.

Beth!

I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked, to hear that you allow your dog to sleep with you!!  What's up with that?

Over the Holidays, when my kids were here, my daughter mentioned that she doesn't like it so much when she wakes up with their (she inherited the cat from her husband when she got married) with their cat on her face. She mentioned that she is not particularly fond of a furry face-warmer, when it happens will just get up and put the cat out of the bedroom, and then shut the door.

So (with 45-pound Staffordshire Bull Terrier Big Joe sitting there at my feet - only sitting at my feet because there wasn't currently room on the couch with all my guests) I asked what everyone thought:

Did I allow Big Joe in the bedroom at night, and (if so) did I allow him to also sleep with me?

Everyone took a good hard look at Big Joe (again, 45 pounds of hard muscle, large head, like most SBT's), and the general consensus was "no, no way, obviously not".

LOL. They were all wrong.

Joe is not the "undercover-dog" type, although I am not sure why. Most of my other dogs have been "undercover" (and I don't mean this in the "spying" sense LOL). I like my bedroom pretty cool to cold at night, and his hair coat is probably one-sixteenth of an inch long, or maybe even less. Not much hair at all.

Maybe because his normal body temp is slightly higher than that of most dogs: 105 degrees.

Ty sure looks like a cutie. Have enjoyed seeing the photos of him there at the Q GTG. Glad you found another Good One, Beth.

:D

I'm still parked here at Quartzsite. I am only planning to travel a short way down the road today. If I don't have to get up early and drive off I don't. That is the nice part of taking two days to drive what you know you could do in one day.

Sue, I think you repaint every year or two. I will admit that my walls are lucky to get painted every 15 years or so. I am not saying that they wouldn't benefit from new paint but I have an RV and dogs and and apparently easily distracted to other events that entice me drive away and not look at the house.....

I took my rig in yesterday for a solar check up. Apparently the four batteries that I had were not hooked up to work best. Two of the batteries were five years old and not as strong as they could be. I have two sealed batteries put in and am going to see how they work this coming week while I dry camp in the California State Park on the beach. There is some question about the size of the solar panels and both Nan and I remember them being a higher wattage than the repair man thinks they are. Since they are fixed on the roof he can't flip them up to check. I know what they allowed me to run at night (radio or TV and computers) so I am willing to see if these two will work. If not I have to head back east and can drive back through next week or so and have two additional batteries put in. It is only money. Lark and Audrey just wanted to be sure they still could afford kibble. Just another reason to be sure I make it back to Ohio in time for any work available.

And to Martha. Thanks for sending the tins of cookies out to share with the GTG. By the time everyone left Thursday, there were only a few left and we squirreled them away with Shiela, the hostess with the mostest, because she always seem to share what ever she has with friends. Apparently several people there had sweet memories of your cookies and especially your Pralines.....something about...."all sugar"..... It was said with proper wistfulness and adoration.....

Well it is down right chilly here (Not like at Sue's or Sharons') 30° and lots of dense fog. Emma and I snuggled back down under the electric blanket this morning while I turned the house heat up I know when I got Emma she was 10 weeks old so she slept in her crate and Xpen in the kitchen. She was vocal about hating that. After she no longer used her litter box all night and went outside to potty in the morning I moved her to a crate in my bedroom. Again vocal at night even tho she could now see me. At 3 1/2 months old she didnt wet or mess her crate overnight so I thought I would try my bed. OMG she was the happiest dog on earth. Snuggled right down next to me and has been there ever since. I probably get about 1/3 of my bed to myself. She doesnt like to be under the covers (she is double coated so has plenty to keep her warm and me sneezing) but she likes to be right up against me. I do have to vacuum my bed LOL keeps the hair down between weekly washings. LOL

Was busy yesterday washing windows, hanging curtains, washing the levelor blinds UGH I wash them in my garden tub and have to be a contortionist to do it. My back was screaming last night so I popped some Motrin/Tylenol and that sure helped. Woke up right as rain this morning so will continue with my projects.

I went to Walmart yesterday as had to get a few groceries and some curtain hanging hardware. Also bought new pillows, mine were pretty pitiful and needed replacing for a long time. I slept on them and they feel pretty good. Will see if they hold up over time. They weren't super cheap but not super expensive either....ya know middle of the road.

Going to the 50th anniversary surprise party in our clubhouse tonight for the owners of this park. They are great people so will be fun. Being put on by their kids. Mexican dinner is being catered so I dont have to cook tonight. I just love living in a family owned park.

Good morning
It will be a busy weekend for me as I take the last of all the fencing stuff over to the fifthwheel and try to decide where I want to put up the boundries for the dogs. Will put in a new kitchen faucet so I can turn the water on and also hook up the sewer. Since the work week will be busy between that and two scheduled Dr appts all I want to have to do on Thursday is turn the key and drive over to the new place.. Have made arrangements with my neighbor to come follow me so she can bring me back to get my car.
Healthwise, I still fight with being dizzy.I get two good days and then it comes back. I'm so careful how I move, it makes me feel 90 !!
Guess I better get rolling and get the car emptied so I can come back for another load.
Y'all have a great day.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the cookies and candy. I always think of Sharon Souter when I make pralines. She loved them and I always made an extra batch when I knew I would see her.

I think I'm in the right state. I'm so far South that we see snow about every 15 years which is too much for me. lol I hate to go outside when it's 40 degrees.

I could see me trying to keep the cats out of the bedroom. It's all I can do to keep them out of the closets. If I open a closet door they have to see what they are missing. I have to watch that one doesn't get shut up in the closet.

I am moving extremely slow today. I want to go to town but that's not going to happen if I don't get a move on.

Just got home from work.

It was a gorgeous day! 75, sunny and no wind. Back in MN, it is below zero. By Wednesday, it will be -25 below with a -60 below windchill!! They say it will be the coldest weather they have seen in 20 years! So glad those days are over for me!

Got fleas again. :( Just picked up some more flea stuff for the cats.

Back to work tomorrow morning, then two days off. I think I will go to the beach one of those days. Not supposed to rain until Thursday. Need a beach fix. It's been awhile!

Lola kitty does not like being under covers. I think she feels trapped because she gets panicky and wants out. Emily, tho, loves being under covers. However, I haven't let them in my bedroom since last summer when the flea infestation started.

Have a good evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
