Really Cold Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Really Cold Monday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jan 21, 2019 6:44 am

Good Morning from the Arctic  Well not really but close. Temperatures are between -19 and -22 in the area. Some areas are reporting colder. But calm winds, so that’s good. There is a windchill advisory out till noon and all schools are closed today. But we are having some beautiful sunny weather. Despite the cold and wind hills, people were out enjoying the sunny weekend. Skiing, tubing, ice fishing, snowmobilingt etc. You just have to bundle up and take precautions against frostbite. The Danish people and those in the far north, say “there is no such thing as bad weather”, you just dress accordingly and go out. They embrace nature, the season, friends and family and are the happiest country in the world.

I’ll be thinking summer this week though as the window opens for the next round of reservations. These will be the beginning of a two week, 3 park stay in the U.P. with some friends.

Was interesting reading about TV’s and newspapers yesterday. I still subscribe to our local paper and usually pick up a Sunday paper on the way to church. I’m not a big TV watcher, don’t really have any particular favorite programs. But Imlove playing FreeCell and Mahjong on my IPad. Stimulates my brain.

Time to quit jabbering about nothing here. Breakfast is in tummy, but that’s all so far. Might go to town later. Need some paint for my work table downstairs. Put the finishing touches down there yesterday for the most part and everything that I want to keep in there has been moved to the shelves etc. with exception of a craft storage closet I need to transfer stuff from. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good morning all
Still transferring stuff to the new place, there isn't much but I move slow in between loving on the dogs and doing other stuff too. We're down to the fence sections and materials for construction.
Have been shopping for a shed, not too big but big enough to actually serve a purpose. Today I will hook up water and sewer to the fifthwheel, do some vacuuming while I use the laundry room at the new place. Washers and driers are cheaper there. This place went up to $2 a load each washer and dryer, that's outrageous. Will be glad to get out of here, its not nice anymore.
I have a whole week without any Dr appts or blood draws. But the following week will be a busy one. Cardiologist on Tuesday and reg dr on Thursday.
My cousin is still here, we went to the Aquarium and butterfly place on Friday. They also had the body exhibit, it was a good full day, very interesting. Lunch at the Dino cafe was shrimp n chips with Greek salad. Was very good.
The sun is up now, about time to get dressed and get on with the day. Ya'll have a good one, have fun, be safe.

Martha, I remembered your treats. Well I found them this morning and then I remembered them! With the help of everyone here at Q I will be held accountable to bringing them out and making sure that they get shared! Thanks, Martha! PS: And so far I haven't eaten any.

We are planning to head to Oatman for a visit today. The wind is blowing but the Honda Fit rides low to the ground so we shouldn't catch too much of it.

My tooth is going to drive me crazy. Yesterday it hurt to chew. This morning it doesn't hurt at all. The way things have been going it will be fine all week and when the dentist is closed it will be hurting.

Ava, glad you are getting things set up.

Tina, I was trying not to mention them in case you didn't want to share. lol Out of sight out of mind works for me too.

I guess today is a holiday. I need to go to the bank but don't know if they are open or closed. Guess today will be another do nothing day.

I'm not sure exactly who went with Tina to Oatman. Cheryl and Sandi for sure. They should have a great time.

I just took a fairly long shower for boondocking. It felt good and I've been conserving water so well that I felt ok with it. But the sun today is deceiving. The wind makes it feel cold. Still better than your winter here, Karen. That said it's a good day for a book and maybe hot chocolate.

Alice, it sounds like this will be a good move for you. Sorry we aren't seeing you here, but take care of you.

A little cooler today and windy but no windchills :D .

Ava, I am glad you are feeling good enough to get out and have fun with your cousin. It will be nice when you finally get settled into your new place. I am sure that will help you relax and feel less stressed.

I work later this afternoon. Have lots of little things I need to take care of before then, so I need to get busy here. Altho, Lola is laying on my lap so I will have to wait a bit,

Have a good day!

Good afternoon. Sitting down for lunch and checking the computer. So glad you all at Quartzsite are at least having decent weather. I love the town of Oatman...such fun. I have been twice and could go again. Hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

Managed to get my plastics and not often used cookware out to the shed. Had to match up the lids LOL why do I always have more bowls than lids...like where do they go??? Gremlins I say.

Watching the Grace and Frankie series season 5 so will watch a couple of episodes then have to continue with some cleaning. Had a PC computer issue this morning and that took up quite a while. BUT all good now.

We still have sun....so far so good. Alice just keep on packing and moving, it will be done soon. Sounds like you are moving to a good place as I am sure the old place is going down hill as they just dont care anymore since it is sold has been my experience. Hope Sue is staying warm.

Sue is staying plenty warm. First I went to town on errands and then bundled up, got the dogs into their coats and off we went in the bright sunshine and 11 degree above temp. Wasn’t sure exactly which way we were going, but Molly wanted to cross the highway and on to the snowmobile trail, then turned north. I had a feeling I knew where she wanted to go and yep, left turn at the next road up and west towards it’s end where the other snowmobile trail comes in. It’s an unplowed seasonal road. I could tell she wanted to take that trail as they enjoy being off leash, running and sniffing all the tracks in the snow. And chasing each other. So off we went. It was a beautiful walk with the white snow and blue sky, sunshine and barely a breeze. I was starting to get a bit warm with the clothes I was wearing despite the low temp. Had it been windy and colder, I would not have done that walk. It’s roughly about 3 miles I would say. Felt good to be out there.

Cold here, but the sun was out for most of the day, which was nice because it warmed up the place.

Tomorrow is blood test day, so keep your fingers crossed that my platelets will be at least at 75 so I can continue treatment and get out of this place! I haven't noticed any more little bruises on my hands, which is a good thing, so I am hopeful.

It was so cold yesterday, I stuffed my garbage into one of my underneath bins. But now I have another full bag of trash, so will drive around and drop it off tomorrow on my way out. Need to go out for blood test, get propane refill, get a few groceries, and go to the pain clinic for my back. This is a new doctor, and I am hopeful they can help me with my back. For the past few years, I have had to stop walking every 10-15 minutes to rest my back and reduce the pain. (London was agonizing, but I stopped a lot and managed.) I really want to be able to walk more and farther. Need to get some muscle strength built up in my legs and arms. And maybe they can help my muscle spasms, as well.

I think it was just Sandi, Tina and Cheryl that went to Oatman... it is an interesting
town
today was a day to sleep in until I couldn't got my dishes done and made fried cabbage and sausage for the pot luck think I cooked the cabbage to long though but since I've never eaten it have no way to judge.
Fridge is turned back on but still needs to get down to a good temp before I put stuff in it
