Glad they are keeping him another day. Will make it easier for both of you when he does come home. Hospitals have a tendency to send people home too soon which creates more problems later.

Don't feel guilty about reaching out to others and us for support. You need that right now. It is stressful to be going thru that worry and anxiety. Keep us updated!

I'm glad you shared. We need support and I, for one, am happy to provide any I can.

Carol, my theory is just Bill can be mad, he will get over it. Your story wasnt really FOR Bill it was for YOU. We all need support, be able to vent, need words of encouragement at times. You should be fairly familiar with those docs down there LOL Hope Bill does well when he is home.

asirimarco wrote:the support from here is a great help too. bill kind of got mad when he found out I'd told everyone he was in hospital. but it helps me to handle it to know that other know. don''t know how to explain that. I guess I don't feel so alone and helpless when I hear from other people. Many many thanks every one

No need to try to explain. Personally, I find this forum to be a very great gift.

Not too many in my own life like to hear "woe is me" from me all of the time, so I just post it on here, instead. It is a very great help.

Always makes me feel better. Always makes me feel less alone. Always makes me feel less helpless.

We all need this. I say, post again, whenever you need to.

Thank you, Beth, and to everyone on here. This forum is a true blessing.

Guess if he's complaining it's a good sign that he's getting better! Women have been supporting each other since the dawn of time. He'll deal with it. Glad he's on the mend and you can breathe again!

Re: Newest from Mexico UPDATE

Postby asirimarco » Sat Jan 19, 2019 2:59 pm

Bill is home and asleep in his own bed with a smile on his face. Only 72 hours after surgery. Lungs a little less congested - got meds for that a nebulizer (SP) He ate a little when he got home. The hospital van brought him home - for free. Easier then climbing up into Jeep. Has appt with surgeon on Wed a.m. So hope he continues to improve and do what he is told!

How did payment go? I usually buy separate insurance when I travel out of the country, but my United Health Care supplement covers up to $50,000 in a foreign country over your lifetime. I am wondering in case i ever make it to Mexico.

Did you insurance come through or did you have to pay by Visa or check or however?? Was the bill about what you expected?

Thanks

He is slowly getting better. Still doesn't want to eat much and have to keep after him to drink liquid. Has been up and sitting outside once. He goes to see doctor on Wednesday to get stitches out. Still has a little flem in his cough but sounds a lot better.
We had to pay upfront with a credit card to get him treated and released. Our insurance changed on Jan 1 and of course we didn't know it. Wouldn''t have made a difference anyway he needed surgery. Insurance will reimburse us. He went in on Monday and came home Saturday, Spent one night in ICU. Cost US$9600 included all expenses, doctors, surgery etc. Total bill for everything. I think much less than in US.
Now to get better.

Thanks. It sounds as if it went very well. And one night in ICU would have cost more than your entire bill in the U.S. And it sounds like you got good care.
