Beautiful picture but looks cold. It has been in the 60's all day. It's overcast but never did rain.

My son called at 10:15 last night wanting to know if I was cooking today. I put the black eyed peas in the slow cooker about mid-night and they were cooked for breakfast. lol Baked a stuffed chicken I had in the freezer. Cooked the whole head of cabbage with sausage. I sent most of the leftovers home with them so I won't be eating it all week.

I put a curtain rod across the front of my old motorhome and bought some insulated curtains at Walmart to block off the cab area. That makes a big difference in keeping the heat in and the cold out. I haven't camped in the new motorhome in the cold yet.

My doctor stopped scheduling my annual visit and if I want an appointment I have to call them. I tried to change doctors and the ones I wanted to see didn't take medicare. I had to see the NP when I wanted to see a dermatologist. I was happy with her. She said they would call me in a year for another visit. We'll see.

Happy New Year Everybody from Gilbert Ray campground in Tucson. Snow on the mountain this morning! Very pretty. Yesterday we hiked in Sabino Canyon for a couple of miles. The trolley no longer runs so we didn’t get to the head of the canyon which was our intention, but I didn’t think I could do six miles. We are slowly making our way to Q. Hoping that Organ Pipe will be open soon, if Washington can get its act together. Peggy

Federal Government Shutdown
During the federal government shutdown, Organ Pipe Cactus will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, there will be no visitor services. The Visitor Center is closed.

As of today Yosemite has closed at least two cg's. Joshua Tree all cg's are closing. Websites aren't being kept up at many locations. I would definitely call and confirm if you want to stay there.

Barbie, I found a senior park in Mesa that will be cheaper. Still a senior park but no clubhouse and activities except a pool. The park where I am now is scheduled for closing august 4, 2019. The park models have been coming out daily. I'm still close enough to work to continue building my savings account.

They are also closing some national parks because the toilets are full and not being emptied, so people are using the sides of the roadways as toilets. Some areas are really unsanitary, which can cause not only disease but a lot of effort to clean up when they do open.

Also, one article said people were not following rules about taking dogs on trails or staying away from areas where animals need to drink. Others are breaking rules about using drones and chasing animals.

Yosemite is one of the parks that has had a lot of people causing problems with leaving trash and human waste along the roads, so they have closed parts of it because of that.

Judy, you could put bubble wrap on your windows for extra insulation. Just wet down the window and stick the bubble wrap on and it will stay. I put that on my bedroom windows in the summer to insulate them from the heat and keep in the cool AC air.

Lyn, I have been to Ely several times. It is beautiful there and right next to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. For a small town there are several things to see there. There is the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, both of which I highly recommend, and the Dorothy Molter Cabin and Museum. She was also known as the RootBeer Lady and lived in the wilderness up there most of her life and made root beer for her visitors. There is a really interesting book about her life called the Root Beer Lady. I think you would enjoy it. As long as you are going up that far, you should spend a couple days going up along Lake Superior to Grand Marais. That area is breathtakingly beautiful and there are several state parks along there that are very nice.

Ava, I knew you were needing to move and looking for another place, I just didn't realize you had found one already. I hope that will be a good move for you!

We took down our Christmas decorations today. Just need to put the tree outside on trash day.

We have a frost warning here for tonight. My roommate covered some of her more sensitive plants.
