Merry Christmas Eve Ladies & all who follow~~~
Just another fulltimers day for me. Currently in Douglas, AZ doing much needed laundry run and maybe a stop at Walmart . Yes I should have my head examined. The park I'm staying at for the holidays is hosting a Christmas party tomorrow. Bring a side dish or donate. They will supply the main course. If Wallys is a madhouse, which I expect, I'll donate.

Sue, thanks for the lovely pics of the trees & snow. I enjoyed them - especially at a distance.
I have to admit, though, it is foggy here this morning - so gentle & quiet - it reminded me of the beauty of snow in the midwest.
Cheryl, hopefully most folks are done with their shopping & you can get in & out easily today.

I am thankful for each & every one of you - so many friendships have been forged at a distance, yet I've never known a more caring group of strong, independent & intelligent women anywhere. May you each be showered with blessings during this special season of love.

Catherine, what a beautiful picture!!! I am with you, I loved the foggy mornings when I was on the coast. I visited with an Aunt one time and if I woke up and the sun was out she would say come on, we'll drive up the coast and find the fog for you!

Merry Christmas Eve! I moved a whole 2 1/2 miles to another cg within Caballo Lake State Park called Riverside Park . This one has a totally different feel... It's along the Rio Grande not the lake. Trees that would bring shade to many sites in the hot months. Meantime Ty and I had different areas to walk. Lots more burrs down here though.

I considered going another 5 or so miles to a store ... Would have gotten ice cream for my Christmas dessert. Nope, decided against it. I'll treat myself for New Year's Eve instead.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I'm getting ready to head to Curves then will stop by the grocery store for a pastry for son for tomorrow. We are done, packages wrapped, stockings hung, Prime Rib dry aging in fridge. Tonight we will go see lights and play Christmas music and work on our Christmas train station as we finished the train last night. Cats were fascinated but treated the moving object with a degree of respect! son has long loved Lego building and now does the very complicated (expensive!) Technic builds. I had never worked on them, but it was fun and easier than I thought, and it's a nice memory to keep, putting the train under all future trees at Christmas.
I want all of you to know how much I appreciate each of you and our group. Not being able to get out in my RV has been disappointing for several years, as Mel and I had so many dreams and plans. You all welcomed me anyway. Bless you all. Hopefully in the coming year I'll be on several shorter trips and at least one long one, to see MN kid graduate from Law Enforcement Academy in August. Probably cant go beyond there on a multi state wander because Chris will be here at home alone with the fur and feather kids. A goal this next year as I make progress in the house, is to get into our big bus (4905 GMC conversion-40 ft long) and empty our personal things then get it sold. Then I'll look for a rig with adequate space for son and I and kitties and shorter than the big bus. I know you will all have an opinion when I begin looking! Lol

Merry Christmas Eve from SoCal!

I was already at the bank and Walmart this morning. WM wasn't too bad actually. Dropped off a card for my handyman. Will get ready for church in awhile. Might drive around looking at Christmas lights after church. Tomorrow it looks like my plans for the beach will be a washout with cold wind and rain all day. Snow expected in the mountains just east of here. Sunny and nice right now tho.

Just wanted to stop by and wish all A Very Merry Christmas.
We've had way more that our share of rain already this month with more forecast after Christmas. But for today and tomorrow our local Christmas gift is lots of sunshine and temps above freezing - near perfect if it was just a tad warmer.

Good afternoon. Not doing much this morning. A little laundry and a Hallmark movie LOL It is raining, really raining and breezy. We need the rain so I wont kvetch too much yet. I just needed some milk so ran up to Dollar General a couple blocks away. More expensive there but hey it beats going into town for 1 thing. Home now and snuggled on the couch with the dog. You know the one who hates rain on the roof LOL as long as she can lie beside me she is fine but otherwise it is slinking and tail down time.

Made a meatloaf yesterday so will have a meatloaf sandwich for dinner. My favorite. Will be glad when the rush is over and we get back to normal. Everyone have a great Christmas today and tomorrow doing whatever it is you do. Celebrating whatever way we choose is how it should be.

Got good news today--blood work showed my platelets are up to 63 from the 27 they were at three weeks ago right after my kidney stone surgery. That is still a long way from normal, but means I am a lot less likely to bruise and bleed. Also, my left kidney appears to be working, which is also very good. Will not know if there are any residual kidney stones for a month.

This will be a quiet day, but I am going to make some pasties later and snack on some of the baklava I ordered. Lots of good things in my freezer! Might even drink one of the small bottles of champagne I have stocked away.

I posted some old (1977 and 1979) snow photos of snowmobiling on the thread for Anne. I enjoyed it then, but not sure I would want to do it now. We were very well dressed in windproof and waterproof, very warm suits. We also wore face masks and helmets, which kept our heads warm and the wind off our faces. Our boots were lined with more than an inch of insulation, and I had elbow-length leather gloves stuffed with down. Even my youngest son (age 3) was toasty warm inside if you stuck a hand down his snowmobile suit, which I did often because he was so young, I have always liked the photos I took of him napping, so I included a couple. He always rode in front of me, and after a while I would feel him slumping and he would be resting his helmet on the handlebars, so would stop to let him sleep for a while. Sometimes we left him leaning on the handlebars and other times we would stretch him out on the seat. (I remember getting chuckles from people passing me when they saw I had a sleeping toddler.)

Not a good day for me. My best friend whom I’ve known since we started 8th grade, went to high school with, was roommates with in college, and who remained my best friend as we got married, raised our families and now have grown old together, passed away this morning from metastisized breast cancer. I was with her in the hospital to the end. It is so painful to lose such a good friend you’ve known for so long and been through so many things, good and bad, together.

Not doing anything this Christmas except remembering my very special friend. I do want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the picture of snow, Sue and Judy. I would ride a horse with my younger son when he was a baby and toddler. It would usually put him to sleep. When he got old enough to ride by himself the motion of a horse would make him sleepy. lol

It wasn't as warm today as yesterday but suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow. They are saying we might get 3 inches of rain between Christmas and New Years.

I made my dressing today so only have to bake it tomorrow. I only made half the recipe and it's still a lot of dressing.

Sandi, so sorry you lost your long time friend. I find it gets more frequent the older I get. It is super hard at the holidays. Hoping 2019 will be a better year.

Sandi, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. I also lost a friend a couple days ago from breast cancer. She and I spent a week vacation together, which was supposed to be on Marathon Key FL but a hurricane forced us out. We ended up in Daytona Beach. After renting a convertible while we were there, we loved riding around with the top down that both of us bought a convertible for ourselves when we got home. Unfortunately, two more friends also died this week but were older, but being so close to Christmas it just seems wrong.

We went to the Christmas Eve service at church and just got home about an hour ago. Merry Christmas!
