Quiet Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Quiet Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Dec 11, 2018 7:32 am

Good Morning on the quiet Tuesday morning here in northern Michigan. Reading back through some of the posts, seems to be a lot of us missing mom out there right now. Those old Christmas traditions being missed. Those Bisquick sausage balls sound awful good though. My thing is Butter cookies. Alway been a part of my Christmases since I can remember.

Karen, sorry you can’t deal with the 50’s Christmas music at the malls. They bring back memories of loved ones as welI and can make it hard to deal with the season too. I love the old traditional music and am not fond of the modern twist they are putting on some of them, but there have been some new ones out over the past couple years or so that Are pretty neat.

This is going to be a reorganize the workshop day. Picked up some pegboard yesterday and want to see if the two workbenches down there can be removed from the wall and put together as one large one in middle of floor. Better for working with longer pieces of wood and walking around it. You know me and my projects  Might have to go after some 2x4’s. Also going to go pay property taxes and be done with that for this year.

Hope you all have a nice day, no matter where you are or what you are doing.

Good Morning to All - up before sunrise this morning. Just come up now is a real pretty sunrise. Probably all the humidity in the air Only 99%!
We have been really busy the last few days. Today we are going to meet friends for breakfast, then drop off laundry and go grocery shopping and hunting for a few things at one of the pharmacies here Then will probably stay in rest of day. I got a little to hot outside yesterday - wasn''t real hot out 85 but with the high humidity it kind of made me feel sick. And I have lots of pictures to go through for the blogs.
Tomorrow is the celebration for the Virgin of Guadalupe so I am hoping we get downtown to see all the children dressed up, there is also a cruise ship in tomorrow so lots going on in town.
When we are down here it just doesn't seem like Christmas to me - although Christmas music is every where - a lot of it in English. Lots of decorations too. Almost everyone in RV park has colored lights out.
Have safe and warm days.

The first day of showing is complete for us anyway. No love for either Josef or Player, Cindy’s young boy. He is a
Finished Champion. It is only 14 months old so it is hard for him to compete in a ring full of mature specials. Player is gorgeous though and will definitely give Josef a run for his money as he matures.

Paulette is driving over to meet Cindy and I for dinner this evening. Looking forwards to a nice evening. But for now we are off to walk through the vendors.

Aww, sorry Tina and Josef, but just making it that far is great! Hopefully, next year!

Getting ready shortly for my lunch date. Not too excited but hey, free lunch!

That's about it for now. Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sue, thanks for reminding me about Butter cookies. I need more cookies in my life. lol I have my aunt's butter cookie recipe somewhere and I love those cookies. My project is still making firewood out of the boards my neighbor is throwing away before the Parish picks them up. Once a packrat always a packrat.

Tina, sorry they didn't like your boy.

Carol talking about being too hot almost makes me miss the past summer. There were a few days that I almost overdid it. It didn't freeze last night, only 35 and it's up to 58. I called for an appointment to get my hair cut but couldn't get one until tomorrow. I want to go to Lafayette and getting an appointment today would have at least got me on the road. Tomorrow night is the Christmas party for my club so that will work out.

I got a bottle of pills yesterday to give Hank. I opened it and gave him one and today I can't find the bottle. There are days I need a keeper.

Barbie Josef is showing all week here in Orlando. It is a dog show. Tomorrow will be another day and a different judge. It is this possibility of different results on any given day that keeps us having fun.

It was me. It's not that I dislike Christmas music, and it's not like I don't like 50's Christmas music at the malls,. I think it is as you said - brings back memories of loved ones (both two and four-legged) that I will never again see in this life. I have always been sentimental. As I get older, it just seems to get worse. I actually enjoy the Christmas lights (I will even make a drive to where I have hear there might be a nice display) and the decorations.

I can even enjoy "Classical/Religious" Christmas music - like, for example, "O Holy Night" (LOL - that is, if the singer can hit that high note without chickening out!).

But the secular Christmas music (like "Winter Wonderland", "Jingle Bells", "Silent Night", those kinds of songs), gets to me every time. If I am in the mall, and a tune that I have known since childhood begins to play, I'm soon running for the Exit.

If I hear “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, it’s guaranteed I’ll start to tear up... really don’t enjoy doing that in public.

Evening All, it doesn’t have to be music. I picked up a loaf of rye bread and it was warm out of the oven so I burst out crying in the Safeway store. He would have loved that bread. My children and I will spend Christmas Eve telling the same Pete stories, I like remembering, they are gone but the memories make me smile and sometimes shed a tear. How can you not smile over “potatoes half rotten”. Youngest daughter was visiting and ask what is that wooden box. It was my father’s shoe shine kit. Told her of a memory that popped up I had long forgotten. My father was a solider in wwII, home on leave, I was maybe six sitting on the floor shining his boots. He told me to spit on the boot (no clue why) I keep trying but it just dribbled down my chin. I can still see him laughing. Daughter asked if she could have the box, so another little memory to pass on. He was so handsome in his uniform. ;)

even though we might shed a tear or two those memories are good.. and arn't tears sorta like venting a
pressure cooker?? if we don't vent it it will explode as will we if we don't vent our feelings once in awhile...
a busy day one that is finished our singles group had a Christmas party today and I had a bunch of running to do and although it was fun am also glad it's over

Well said, Sheila.

I drove the southern route yesterday to Columbus, NM ... I lost a signal and didn't notice that when I picked one up again I was getting it from Mexico. Then, in Columbus the phone wouldn't switch back to the US. I've been there before without this problem. Planned to stay a couple nights but headed north and after 5 miles stopped and rebooted the phone and it picked up Columbus. I decided to continue the approximately 30 miles north and find Peggy. I'm at the park she's staying at in Deming. Great visit today/tonight... Will stay a 2nd night so she and I can meet up tomorrow for lunch with Sharon. Then I might head back south and go across the border for some meds and just because lol. I'll decide that tomorrow.

Now I'm headed to see if I got any unexpected charges before I caught the Mexican connection.

Check with your provider to see if you can get international roaming or calling turned off.

I had a very similar problem in the Olympic Peninsula, and had Verizon tell me what setting to use.

I turned roaming off after I discovered it. Was more frustrated that I couldn't get the phone to pick up the US signal. It always has before.
