Super Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Super Sunday

Postby asirimarco » Sun Dec 09, 2018 10:13 am

Surprised I'm the first one here. I even slept in the morning. Watching a soccer game from our TV at home using Dish Anywhere. Works here in Mexico as long as the Internet doesn't get too busy and slow. A beautiful day here today. Sun is shining. Rain is gone for a while.
We went out last night to the main plaza in the old historic district of Mazatlan. Great friends, meal and lots going on. The lighting of the Christmas lights in the plaza while we were there. Fireworks and everything. Lots of children preforming, singing and a children's orchestra.
Always something interesting going on there. We've paid for another month so we'll be putting up with the construction going on all around us. Guess that means we'll have to find places to go
Saw lots of snow in US on the TV news. Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe.
We have the coffee on and lots of pastries. Enjoy your day. Bill says Hi to everyone

Sunday and a drive through Atlanta

Postby BirdbyBird » Sun Dec 09, 2018 10:18 am

Good morning everyone. Cindy and I made it through to Chattanooga, TN, and A dog friendly Red Roof. Though it rained all night the temperatures remained above freezing and we have achieved what we set out to do.....miss the affects of the nasty snow and ice storm. After a leisurely breakfast at the Waffle House next door we are now on our way past Atlanta on what we hope is a quiet Sunday morning traffic flow.

Make it a good day! Enjoy the beat of the season, make new memories and let any of those not so happy memories of seasons past flow away. Crying for sweet memories. That is to be cherished.

Mornin' ladies~~~
Nice that you're enjoying catching up with friends so much Carol that you've extended your stay. Tina I'm also glad you made it out if the Ohio snow belt and are safely on the road south.

I'm pretty much in AZ for now, at least thru the first week in February. Thinking about doing some of Texas, but who knows?

I have a really long drive today, 40 some miles  so hanging out until actual check out time. May even hit the mid-way rest stop to stretch my legs. 8-) . I'll be at Kartchner Caverns SP then for some more sightseeing in the area and some business stuff to catch up on.

Well have a good day ladies & stay safe wherever you are.

Good morning all. We are having the weirdest weather. Was 47° when I got up and now is 53° BUT there is a definite chilly breeze in the air. Predicting "possible" showers tomorrow. We shall see.

Carol I so envy you in Mexico. I havent been for quite a while but hope to go again soon. I have always loved my stays in Mexico. I went every year in February for a month and it was so wonderful. Great memories.

Good news Tina you are ahead of the bad weather. I think you made a wise choice to leave early.

Cheryl I really liked Kartchner caverns but wear a heavy coat gets chilly underground.

I am like Shirl, not too motivated yet. We shall see as the day unfolds. Right now have a movie on, snuggled under my fleece blanket with the dog. On my second cup of coffee so there is hope for me yet.

Good Afternoon gals. Just got home from mass and a stop by a Christmas craft and vendor show. Lots of beautiful things and a couple of our Farmers Market vendors as well. Was able to get some fresh farm eggs and farm raised breakfast sausage too.

Carol, you are really enjoying Mexico. Tina, good timing for you and Cindy, missing the storm. Should be clear sailing from here on and Best of Luck at the show.

Anne, you aren’t the only one with no Christmas joy. I lost mine when my mom died. Just wasn’t the Same. I don’t decorate either and haven’t put up a tree in about 3 years. But I do have my mom’s Ceramic tree and will probably put it out before Christmas. There are no rules saying we have to decorate. It’s hard at Christmas when those whom you have spent the holiday and it’s preparations with, are no longer with us. Cherish the memories.

Pat, good to see your post. Miss your post on life at the ranch, Bronc etc. he must be really growing now. Shirl, you and Karen sound like you are having the same kind of day. Nothing wrong with that. Some days gothat way. Nothing’s gonna get accomplished here either.

Well, Molly is going to be bugging me for a walk before long, so better get my act together. I’ve been letting her decide which way we are going, rather than me decide. She’s know well the routes we take and has been taking us on some nice rambles the past couple of days. She leads, Piper and I follow  As is our custom, we vary the walks each day.

Sue, thank you very much for your heartfelt words. I wrote my post after a night of severe insomnia (increasingly common for me). After a night's sleep, my thoughts had not changed, but I felt, upon reflection, that maybe my post was a bit too personal, and a bit too much of a "downer". So I have removed it.

But, again, thank you so very much for your post. It is extremely comforting - and validating - to know that you have the same kinds of thoughts and feelings that I do. I think we must be kindred spirits. Thinking back, I think I first began to lose my Christmas joy when my own mom passed.

Thanks for writing.

I left Benson... My almost 200 mile drive became 50 because I decided to stop at Whitewater Draw. Tomorrow I'll head east the rest of the way I had planned today... Or so I say now lol. I was here a few weeks ago with my friend Ginger and the cranes were way further out than normal because of the rains that changed the terrain. I'm about to go walk and see if things are more normal or not. Being a Sunday there's a lot more cars and people here than I'm used to!

Carol, love your update. Cheryl, sorry I'm missing you in Benson. Enjoy the caves, but as said, wear a warm coat when you go in.

There isn't much joy in my life anymore either. I miss my husband and if there is anything harder than losing a child I hope I never find out what it is. My son insisted on going to my SIL's with me for Thanksgiving but all he did was pace the floor so I ended up leaving early. He says he checks on me but the neighbors talk to me more than he does. I hope he goes to Baton Rouge with his girlfriend for Christmas. I would just as soon spend it with the cats.

I made cookies this morning. I'm bringing the people at the vet's office candy and cookies tomorrow. I'll fatten them up instead of me.

I probably should go walk Hank because it's only 44 and I know it's just going to get colder. He didn't get a walk yesterday because of the rain.

I made my peace with Christmas long ago, probably a few years after I was divorced in 1984. Now, I enjoy the TV programs, but it is just another day. Another decision I made once my kids got married was due to my ex-husband being the only child of a widowed mother. Every holiday, if we did not go to visit her or have her at our house, she did the guilt thing about being "ALONE AT CHRISTMAS!" (Add your own drama.) So, I go to visit kids when I can, but always before or after Christmas Day, but not Christmas Day itself because I feel they should have that day for their family. (I am alone at Christmas, but of my own choosing.)

I spent last year with my Napa kids, but left before the 25th. And the other years, I spent in Myakka State Park and then flying out to Ohio on the 26th. This Christmas, I will be alone and try to enjoy myself, but wish it were not so cold here. At Myakka, I always took a very long bike ride on Christmas Day, but it was warm and sunny. WHich reminds me that I have to make my reservations for 2019 at Myakka!!

I've been sleeping about 9-10 hours every night, and am feeling good, but wish I knew if those lousy kidney stones had moved. No fever last night, at least. I was going to do laundry today, but too much rain, so will wait until tomorrow when it is supposed to be sunny, even though it will be cold.

Judy, you are just too far north this time of year. We had another warm day here and our low was 47this morning and this afternoon was 54 on my back patio. Cloudy with sun breaks but a tad breezy earlier. Sorry you are so cold and hoping it warms up for you. It is warm because we are expecting a little rain tonight and tomorrow, we shall see.

Managed to sort out a few drawers today but not much else. Tomorrow will go get a few groceries and take care of a few more housekeeping duties if not too much rain. Going to turn on the tv and watch a Christmas movie. Enjoying a quiet evening with my Christmas tree on and a cup of hot chocolate......mmmm good Mexican hot chocolate.

Speaking of weather... The cold desert nights will hit me tonight. I've become a wimp with all the hookups... Tonight will drop to about 30... Maybe I need to put my third quilt or comforter on the bed :)

Twas a glorious day to stop at Whitewater Draw. After another walk around tomorrow, I believe I'll actually get back into NM. No guarantees though lol

I also had no motivation today. Still hanging out on the couch where I started at 11am today. I did get to the kitchen to bake a potato dish for supper which is cooling off a bit right now before I dig in to it.

Christmas in my family changed a lot after my mom passed away too. She was Ms Santa Claus! Just never the same, mostly just going thru the motions after that. This year I will hopefully go to church on Christmas Eve, altho our shop owners want to keep the shop open until 7pm that day (they don't celebrate Christmas). That is crazy and not fair to the stylists who have family and plans that night. On Christmas Day I usually go to the beach for the afternoon. This year I may go kayaking at Mission Bay in San Diego instead.

Karen, I love the stockings hanging on the wall. I will post pics of my tree but I need to get some more decorations on it first. It looks a little sparse right now.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
