The Last of November

Happy Friday. Just plugging the coffee in for others and opening the shutters to let the sunlight in. I am guessing that there is actual sun somewhere. In the meantime keep your own sunshine in your heart. I'am slugging along here in Ohio.

I purchased a frame from Goodwill about three weeks ago for a sitting room bed upstairs. I hauled it up the stairs and promptly walked away. Guess I have time to clean and set it up with the mattress. Can you tell we don't get much call for visitors here in Ohio? Josef's Cindy came once last winter but, hey, she has been know to sleep in her van at summer dog shows (when my camper isn't there) so we know that running water and a roof is enough of an upgrade to keep her happy.

Working on my winter plans. Am hoping to head west this year. Thinking that if I want to make Q I will have to wander faster going west and will have a more free "lets go here" discovering time after January.

See what we can make of this day! Go find some laughter.

Sun is out today but sure had a lot of rain yesterday and last night! Unfortunately, it came too much too fast in many areas. The Holy fire area in the mountains between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore was evacuated due to mud flows and slides there.

Just had another butterfly hatch out in the past hour or so. Should be one more hatching this weekend sometime. (is "hatch" the right word??)

Soos put a reminder on FB this morning about saying "rabbits" tonight/tomorrow morning. I didn't realize it was already the end of the month!

Seems like out here no one goes outside when it rains. I worked for 5 hours yesterday and did one haircut!

Steve, Brendac (Brenda from Canada) and I returned to Ocala yesterday afternoon after vacationing in southern Miami and the Keys for two weeks. Brenda is a wonderful tour guide, in case you ever need one. We had a grand time and now will spend the remainder of the winter in Ocala. The temperatures in Miami were more "Irmi" friendly, but the temperatures here are still much better than our home in MD. I will play for church Sunday, so I need to get my keyboard out tomorrow and do some serious studying. Took all the "fall" items down and the Christmas tree and wreath are up and flashing lights. Miss my parents, but I have their picture on the shelf behind our couch, so they can continue traveling, which they did also. Life goes on, one generation at a time.

I am home from my kidney stone surgery and feeling achy, but not really in serious pain. Left kidney has really been beat up, so it is sore, especially when I move. Stent, surprisingly, is not painful. I was dreading it because the one I had about three years ago was agonizing. So this surgeon did a good job. Also a lot of bleeding in urine, but doctor says not to worry about it unless I start to get dizzy and feel faint or turn pale.

About 5 am they came in this morning and took blood for a complete blood count. I had been concerned with the amount of blood and nurses were concerned with low blood pressure. I knew my platelet count was very low, and it did turn out to be 27, when normal is 150-400, so I was pretty sure they would keep me another night because you need platelets to stop bleeding. (Numbers of platelets will slowly creep up over the next weeks.) However, doctor said this morning that I was pink and not dizzy, so I could go home. He said he would keep me another night if I really was worried. Ha!

So, I am taking it easy and already downed another Vicodin. I also took a shower and will head to bed early tonight. (Had to get rid of all the hospital germs and smell,) In any case, I am VERY glad to have this all over and done with. AND, I took an Uber home!

According to a site about English language, the noun for a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis is “eclosion.” In verb form: “A butterfly will “eclose” from its chrysalis.” As you used the term “hatching” Barbie, the interesting thing is that the French word “eclosion” means “hatching.”

Ha Barbie, I prepared for the rain as if a blizzard was on its way. Guess I've adapted to CA.

I've already sent out my first Christmas gift to the twins. I'm not big on buying gifts anymore but couldn't resist getting them a few things. Has anyone else noticed that the USPS priority mail is now 3-day not 2-day & that's business days - probably from the time it reaches the regional center. I got it to the post office early Wed morning. It won't get there until Monday. In my book that's 4 business days.
Also sent money for the first time using PayPal for a donation thing at work. Easy-peasy... that's probalby how i'll send the kids their gifts from now on.

Just got a book 'Sharing the Wisdom of Time' - check it out on the website https://www.sharingwisdomoftime.com by Pope Francis '& friends'. Unbound worked with Loyola press on it. It highlights stories about the wisdom of elders througout the world. They included about 24 elders from Unbound communities. You can read many of the stories on the website. The book is beautiful but a little pricey. Hoping I can buy a couple with a discount from work.

Well, I need to get things picked up so I can get my little princess from school.
Maybe, just maybe I'll remember to say rabbits tomorrow.

Judy, glad you are doing well. Hope this fixes you right up.

Kind of a lazy day here today. Rain off and on and sun breaks but the weather people are going crazy because there wil be snow in the mountains and the passes. Since I live at the bottom of the Siskiyous (on the CA/OR border I-5)
they get super crazy with the threat of snow and set up chain control "houses" The snow plows are already staged up there LOL The news people head up there to report live. Heck I just look at the cameras. Cold front coming so we will see what happens. Me, I am just staying put. Nowhere I have to go.

Wow Barbie, 1 haircut in 5 hours LOL I should have gone yesterday and got my hair trimmed .. might have been the same up here although Oregonians dont let a little rain stop them LOL

Yes, Linda. Spent night in hospital. My surgery was not scheduled until 2:00 pm, and I was not out until after 4:00 pm, and did not really get completely awake and "normal" until 7:00 pm, so I was happy to spend night. They put me in an "overflow" room, which turned out to be at the end of the corridor outside of recovery. It was one of those rooms where they prep you for surgery, so it was a single room with a regular bed, but no bathroom, but it was quiet and all by itself. I would take it again in a flash, even having to go to the bathroom across the hall, to avoid a noisy double room!!!

If you have a grandchild who is aged 9-13 or so, there are some really neat books where you make "weapons." My 13 year old grandson had one this summer, and he had a ton of fun making spitball weapons from rubber bands and stuff like toilet paper rolls. I bought him one of the other books in the series and a book of targets that you tear out for Christmas. Bought the original red one for 12 year old grandson in Ohio, another science book for his 10 year old sister, and am looking for a cookbook for his 9 year old sister. a busy and not busy day doesn't make sense does it?
and tomorrow is going to be more so...I need water can't get the pump to work
so need to haul gal containers just so I will be ok till the pump is either fixed or replaced
shower have a surprise birthday party to attend and cookies to bake not to mention that I ahmm
went to Ace's and unfortunately a bunch of plants jumped into my cart so guess I ought to give them a home...oh and there is a craft fair so need to organize my day... hopefully I will remember at 12:01 to say rabbit's won't do it if I don't do it then...
my cactus (those that bloom at either Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter) is blooming not sure if it was later for Thanksgiving or early for Christmas but sure pretty...I combined two in one pot one isn't blooming the other is will be interesting to see if it blooms or not this year or next...

Isn't that the truth.
They actually delivered it late yesterday! So they did live up to the 3-day priority mail. AND I signed up for 'all' notifications so I was kept informed each point along the way.
A far cry from 3 years ago when a package for Olivia's baby shower - went clear across the country a couple of times before finally arriving. Not sure how they mixed up Maine with California but they did. I think that took a couple of weeks for them to locate it & re-direct out west.
