Good morning! Well, yesterday was quite a day! When I watched the late news last night they said we got 9” of the white stuff! Schools closed all over the area and closed again today. We have a lot of rural areas that I’m pretty sure the road crews weren’t able to get to so not safe for buses. No surprise that both mountain roads in and out of town were closed to allow them to clear stranded motorists and get the road plowed. I-80 was a real mess through this area! Welcome to winter! Sue, I will for sure be using the snowblower today! And some shoveling too! Wow, just heard that the university just closed for a second day. That doesn’t happen very often! They said they got over a foot of snow over there. Usually we get more then they do but they seemed to be in the bullseye for our area. Sounds like it was worst in surrounding states! So do I wish I could leave this area in the winter? You bet, but it’s not to be. At least not in the near future! At least being retired I don’t have to go out in it. I had an appointment yesterday that I rescheduled. It’s just not worth being out on the roads and there are plenty of folks who have to be out there for their jobs. Been ther, done that! Okay, I’m done whining! Irmi, enjoy your adventure! Sheila, hope you get your generator back soon! And you too, Judy! Beth, sounds like you’re enjoying your time off from working. Anne, keeping good thoughts for you. I’m procrastinating here, coffee is done and I guess I need to get outside and play in the snow! Have a great day and travel safe!

I'm camping with the Belles in Natchitoches. This is a new park operated by the Red River Authority and it's very nice and clean. The road is kind of confusing because it loops around instead of being in rows. It's in an old pecan orchard so nice that they didn't cut down the trees. Knowing this bunch we will probably be headed out for the thrift stores. Tomorrow there is something going on all day on the river front in downtown.

The weather is beautiful. I was out with just a long sleeve shirt and was warm enough.

Barbie, I can't believe that it has been a year since you moved. Time sure flies since I'm over the hill. lol

If it’s any consolation Sharon, I ran my blower again today, but 3 inches is far cry from what you had. Although 9/10 inch snowfalls are not uncommon here. Lake effect can dump anywhere from 2 to 10 inches every day for a month if it really wants to. We get on average 140 inches a year due to lake effect. If it weren’t for that, it would be just what a system happens to dump. You can go 30 miles in any direction from here, with couple exceptions and have half the snow that hits the snowbelt of NW lower Michigan. And running from winter won’t help, you just get other weather happenings to deal with I’ll take my snow over tornadoes, hurricanes, fires etc. After all, life would get boring if we didn’t have weather to deal with or complain about What we need as we get older is a place we can call home where an association takes care of stuff, where you still own your own place but not a multi story or duplex condo type thing. Geez, 3 in the afternoon and feels like twilight already. Snow must be heading in.

Martha, have fun in the camping trip. Seems funny reading about you southern gals out camping while we in the north are all hunkered down for winter. But in about a I will be starting to make reservations or the summer as the booking window heads for Memorial Day weekend, Then will look into June and beyond over the next few months. MI State Parks popularity has soard of late, so want to get my reservations in. Easier to cancel than try to get one later. Our parks have always been busy, but last year was a zoo. Sites were being snapped up in the popular parks as fast as they came open.

So, guess it’s time to quit jabbering. Time to do a dog walk, but at the moment nobody’s stirring. Can’t tell if the road is plowed or not, not that it really matters, but does make easier walking. They have a bit over an hour left if they want to go

Hi Sharon, Martha & Sue! Sharon & Sue, so sorry you are dealing with snow, but I know you are both used to it. Martha, enjoy your camping outing with your friends.

We had friends from Ocala that left this morning to meet us in Miami, but they had a blow out on the way and had damage to their RV. So after AAA arrived, they turned around to go back to Ocala to put their rig in shop with hopes they could get their slide moving. Needless to say, they won't be meeting us for this getaway. It was chilly when we got up this morning and only 61 in Miami but it's supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Leaving at this time was a blessing for me as I detest cold weather, although we made these reservations a year ago.

For those on the road or home and especially for Anne and others in CA, please stay safe.

They have closed most of the schools in the Bay Area because of the smoke. My son texted me last night from Napa, and the air quality score is still 181 there right now. One problem is that there is hardly any wind to blow it out to sea or further south. CNN had some photos of San Francisco, and you can hardly see any of the tall buildings.

In fact, it is smokier right now in Napa than when they had the closer fires last year because of wind direction.

Where I am in Eugene, it gets a score of about 100 at night but right now is 59 or Moderate.
