White Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

White Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Nov 09, 2018 7:57 am

Good Morning from the snowy 45th. Winter is arriving a bit early this year , but not out of the norm. 5-10 inches possible here, maybe more. Will just have to see how it all plays out. I bought a new snowblower earlier this week to replace my old one that died this past spring and am hoping they deliver it today.

Been watching live coverage of the CA fires. Horrible. Wish I could send some of this snow out there. Sad watching all the houses burning especially withe the holiday season approaching too. No joy for those people. And them having to run for their lives besides.

Martha, hope you got to TX safely. Beth, getting a laugh out of your having trouble getting your “motor” going now that you are a lady of leisure. Some days are like that.

Well, rambling on about nothing here, so gonna quit. Wishing you all a nice day.

Good morning Sue & all who follow!

Sue, I hope your snow blower arrives today as it sounds like you'll be needing it.

No snow here. It was 69 this morning and we'll have a high of 86 this afternoon, but it feels like it's already that, but I don't mind. That's why we're here.

A friend from the campground and I just returned from a craft fair not too far from here but it was more a flea market, although they had some homemade goodies and crafts. We both returned with a couple bags of things. This coming Thursday, Brenda, one other couple and Steve & I will leave in our rigs to spend two weeks in the Keys and then return here for the rest of the winter. We're looking forward to the getaway.

Wherever you are, please be safe.

Sue, enjoy the snow! Irmi, enjoy your trip to the Keys!

It is chilly in the house this morning, I am wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. Lola was curled up on my chest a little while ago. She sure is getting sweet in her old age!

I really need a mental break from all the bad news right now. It gets me so stressed and depressed. :(

I woke up early this morning. I need to go to WM later and maybe stop at the Butterfly Farm and pick up some more plants, and an enclosure for the caterpillars. The one my roommate has is not very user friendly. We have 6 caterpillars outside that we will bring in once they get big enough. The one we have now is still in it's chrysalis which is still green. Hoping to have a new butterfly in the next few days!

Then off to work at 5pm.

Have a good day!

Brrrr! Cold here, also. In fact low last night was only 31, and this morning I was almost out of propane, so went out to stock up on groceries and get propane. Went first to a Chevron station, and after struggling for 15 minutes, the guy said their nozzle connection was broken. So went to Tractor Supply, and after another 15 minute struggle, the guy said MY connection was broken, so they could not fill my tank.

So, I made some phone calls and left messages at RV repair shops, but then decided to head to Camping World in Coburg, about 15 miles away. By this point, it was almost 3 pm, and I was facing a night without hot water or heat or anything to cook with other than microwave. BUT, when I got to CW, young lady was outside at the propane fill station, so she looked at my tank connection and without any problems at all, she filled my tank. Whew!

Grabbed my groceries at Walmart, and raced home to the RV park just after the sun set, so was able to back in and hook up. Low tonight is going to be 30, but at least I will be warm!! Thank you, Kim, from Camping World!!

I made it to Texas with no problems. I came across on Hwy 21 which the signs says is the original El Camino Real which I believe because it looks like they just paved the original indian trail. I have never seen a hwy with so many historical markers. They actually have a place to pull over but I didn't. I had forgotten how hilly East Texas is. I use to make this trip many times because I had 2 aunts in Dallas and I use to pick up my mother and head this way many times.

The rally is at the civic center in Mineola and they have an RV park. This is a very nice place to have a rally. There is a big meeting room and we had a catered spaghetti dinner with a salad and cheese cake. Tomorrow night I think it's a chicken dinner. There was a gift exchange tonight but I didn't bring anything. I have too much stuff now and I have been too frazzled this last week to shop for anything.

They have a campfire going but my phone says it's 45 degrees. If I went and sat out in that I would be sick tomorrow. I haven't had enough anit-freeze tonight for that. lol

It is so sad about the fires still going on in California.

I should have called to see how Sweetie Pie is but hope no news is good news.

I went to the Butterfly Farm and got a 2 ft high screened enclosure for the caterpillars and butterflies. Also got three milkweed plants. Put one plant inside the enclosure and put the biggest caterpillar in there with it. He can happily munch until he is ready to make his chrysalis. There are at least 5 more caterpillars on Denise's plants outside.

Worked tonight for 4 hours and only did 3 haircuts. Friday nights are always slow.

I have tomorrow off and Denise and I are going to the Veterans Day (a day early) breakfast at the clubhouse in the morning.

I was checking on a cute little trailer on CL but after a few emails back and forth, I believe it is a scam. :o I am pretty good at spotting the red flags on those ads and emails. So moving on...

Was hot today here but sure cools off quickly at night now! Time for bed...yawn!
