Cold Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Nov 08, 2018 7:38 am

Morning. Cold here in northern Michigan. And we have a ground covering of snow too. Less than an inch. Molly is in heaven. She loves snow and cold being she has a heavy coat. Piper on the other hand, being a mix of rough and smooth coat collie, doesn’t have that heavy undercoat, so wants in.

Shirl, making that move decision isn’t always easy, but when you feel the times right, then it’s time. I downsized two years ago and haven’t regretted it. Lot of work, but if you start a bit at a time, a room at a time, by spring, you can have everything ready to go. Good luck. I’m not ready for the apt. scene myself, as I like working outside and doing things around my house, but there will come a day....

Barbie, lived that cupcake tale. So cute. Martha, hope that tire is fixed once and for all. Welcome Wilma. Sounds like you are ready for some adventures. Like others have said, we are scattered all over the country wherever you roam, just let us know when you might be in our areas and we can do GTG. Enjoy your travels.

Finishing up making storm windows is my project today. Doing 3 for back side of house. Found a good vinyl at Walmart, somusing that stretched over wood frames. I used that vinyl on my trailers screen door this past fall, put on with Velcro and it worked out great. Allowed me to keep my outside door open, but kept the cool air out. Will do it in the summer too, to keep warm air out, when I need to use AC.

Well, guess I should get busy here. Get those windows done and put in. Y’all have a nice day out there. Keep safe.

Good morning
Getting ready to dump the tanks, unplug, raise the levelers and head for the gas station. By then rush hour should be about done. Looking forward to these next few days in the desert. Furnace is working good. The igniter solenoid jiggled loose off the motherboard. Easy fix, just took forever to find that to be the issue.
Enjoyed the cupcake story Barbi, gave me a chuckle. Winds will be kicking up, tailwind for Sheila but broadside for me. Guess I better get on with it before it really gets to blowing.
Enjoy your day

Yes, Yes it is a cold Thursday. Was 24° when I let the dog out. An hour later as the sun came up we were down to 21°. Good thing I am getting winterized in a couple of weeks. Right now sun is out and will warm to 61° so not too worried about anything freezing in the RV. It is only bad when it never warms up for the day.

Had a surprise visit from a good friend yesterday so we went out for dinner for some Mexican and a cocktail. She only lives about 1 1/2 hrs from me but we still dont get to see each other too much. Another fire next to the I-5 freeway. What happened to fire season is over, guess didnt get that memo. Seems like they have it around 25% contained and it isnt where it is threatening any homes or structures.

My other friend Malia is coming over tomorrow for a visit. So happy she is feeling pretty good these days and wants to get out. She is patiently waiting for some snow in our surrounding mountains.

Got my gutters sealed (I think) where they were leaking so we will see if we ever get any rain. Playing Mexican train today with a few of the neighbors. Fun way to pass a couple of hours in the afternoon.

Morning is just about gone here. I'm in final throws of finishing things up for an open house at antique mall this weekend.

In case some of you are interested, Verizon just announced a new unlimited data plan for Jetpacks. Sounds pretty good for travelers. I'll post an early review of it under the General thread.

Going to be cold here next week. Our first freeze this weekend. Way too early in season for this stuff.

Slept in this morning. Woke to some bad news stories...bad wildfire in northern California south of Redding near Paradise, CA. Then the terrible shooting in Thousand Oaks at a bar overnight.

OK, on to better news...100 women voted into the House! Yay!

I am hoping to check out a cute little trailer in LA next week (the owners are out of town for the weekend). Can't wait! :D

Ava, have fun in Q. Do you park by Sheila's spot?

Karen, glad to hear Malia is feeling pretty good right now.

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Still chilly here in Ohio. Had to run out and buy a different boot for Josef. The one that managed to stay own his foot when it was wrapped no longer fit on his bare foot. Busy getting vehicles washed after the last of the maple leaves have fallen finally. The Honda. The Chrysler mini va and the RV. All looking much better and ready to go forth and pick up new dirt! Now heading back to the house to groom some dogs and Dremel those nails. What an exciting day! Back to the reading later tonight!

Cold here, also. I am going to try to put some film over a couple of windows to see if it will help cut down on propane I am using. At least sunny yesterday and today, so that is keeping place warm during day.

Just posted an update in Members Only forum. Things are going well, and even my back is doing better. I had been having muscle spasms in my left lower back after sitting on my son's uncomfortable couch so much three weeks ago. My doctor's nurse noticed it and got the doctor-on-call to prescribe some Flexeril to help. It has been hard to even get out of bed or roll over because any movement sets spasms off, but it is much better today. Kept a heating pad on it all day yesterday, which also helped.

Downsizing took me almost a year, but it felt so great to just go through one drawer each day and toss out all the crud I had collected. Mostly it was stuff I had not seen in decades. You will feel mentally lighter once you start. I told my kids they ought to be eternally grateful not to have to do all of the tossing after I am gone!!

Barbie just because I cautioned about food doesn’t mean you aren’t cute. :D Just what some teens think is funny doesn’t make me laugh.

Well, I've been doing more Medicare homework since it's open enrollment time . I HATE the phone and these people have been calling non-stop, but I can stop them all now. Through the Medicare site I changed my drug plan... That'll save about $15 a month. Then through an agent today I switched... Kept plan G, but switched to Aetna which will save me about $25 over the plan I had.

Ty was thrilled when I let him off leash in the desert for a bit this morning. I was so proud of him. We'll try doing it more. It's great exercise for him. Then he was excited because I gave him extra treats while I was on the phone to get the insurance taken care of.
