Clock Changing Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Clock Changing Sunday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:18 am

You did turn your clocks back, right? You guys in Arizona just ignore all the hoopla besides most of our electronic devices change themselves. I gave up setting the clocks on the stove or microwave long ago.

Repeating more of the chilly, grey and wet here in Ohio. Gee, it appears to be November. Since I didn't get to take Josef to the show last weekend I might as well drain the tanks and the water heater. I will still keep the electric heater running but there is no reason that I should take the extra risk I when I don't need to. If and when I head out in December after returning from Josef's Florida adventures, it really isn't all that hard to fill the tanks once we get far enough from the, by then, frozen Ohio tundra......

Have been going through closets and reclaiming stuff that fits and sorting out the "What was I thinking" clothes. A nice pile for the Salvation Army. Between recent trips to the Columbia Outlet store and what I have found, optimistically stored after my last weight gain, I can't even justify a need to shop at the Thrift Stores. I love to go through the Thrift Stores. I don't collect things because as you all know I would be expected to dust them but I was always so excited to find well made "dog show" clothes or the perfect pair of jeans that in another life I would have paid full price for..... After last nights sorting I don't even need more warm layers...... Guess I will have to go back to the hobby of keeping the dogs groomed and reading.

Good Morning to all only took me five tries to write that - guess my brain and my fingers aren't awake yet .
Quiet day yesterday here in San Carlos, MX 85 degrees out mid day. Quite cool at night. A arty at the hotel next door last night on to early this morning - loud band and every hour fireworks - the REALLY loud ones.
A beautiful sunset last night put some pictures in my blog of it. Internet is so slow can't get one uploaded to share here. No plans for today.
Eveery one have a safe and fun day.

Good Morning
Headed out to do some grocery shopping shortly and need to attend to a couple of other things in prep for dangerous weather forecast Monday night into Tues morning. Latest weather update has me in the TORCON 5 region (50% chance of tornado). Any left over daylight time will be devoted to finishing up what little remains to be done for the Veterans weekend Holiday Open House at antique mall.

Good Morning. Housekeeping chores here this morning. I set my clocks this morning, remembered I need to use my dishwasher, it has been a while. So looking for things to put in it, guess I will wait until after lunch to maybe add a few more dishes. Working on sorting some clothes in my guest bedroom closet to go to the Salvation Army tomorrow. I have been trying on clothes each morning and so far I dont have too much of a "keep" pile. I kept a few that have the "possibility" of me fitting into again. Next is my coat closet. I seem to have acquired quite a few coats that I never wear.

Need to get back on my diet as a couple more pounds found me...sheesh. Will wait until after Christmas tho as too many goodies and meals around until then. Will still just keep an eye on my carbs for now. Then will return to my exercise of walking the dog daily and watching my carb intake. The dog will be happy.

I boxed up most of the clothes that are too big but I'm afraid to give them away because I have been through this too many times. I might be wearing them again. I still have my jeans to go through but it's not quite cold enough for long pants yet. My DH had a thing for coats and the coat closet is packed. I wish my son would come see if there are any he wants so I can get rid of some.

I woke up early enough to watch Sunday Morning but only because of the time change. We were under a flood watch or warning but they have taken that off the screen. It was raining hard enough to knock out the satellite and internet. There is rain all over so I don't think I will be going to the festival. There is a lot of rain predicted for the week. Not good traveling weather. Get ready Sarah, I'm sure all this is headed your way.

Sweetie Pie has nerve damage where she broke her leg and was keeping her food bent. This morning I have been letting her walk around the house and she is starting to put her foot down right so that's a good sign. I had to shut her back up because she wants to go in the bathroom and sleep in the sink. I don't want her jumping down from the counter.

I seldom use my dishwasher either. The main thing that needs to go in the dishwasher is the dish drain rack if I could get it empty.

Yesterday was a very busy day for me! Made it thru the carport sale and sold a lot, so not much to clean up afterward. Made a little over $120 so that was great! Then went over to the clubhouse and had a great pork roast dinner for $5 and met some new residents. Then went to Carlsbad to see the "medium" Blair Robertson. He is very funny and very blunt. One lady got a message from a grandfather but she just wasn't "getting" the message and he was getting frustrated (as we were, since we all understood the message!) so he finally just stopped her reading and moved on. Some people refuse to "hear" what they don't want to hear. It was all very interesting even tho I didn't get a reading. I bought a couple of his books and got them autographed and talked with him for a few minutes.

It was extremely foggy last night so was hard to find my way around the streets to get to the freeway. I don't know my way around that area in the dark and then add fog, it was very confusing but I eventually found my way.

This morning I woke up to two very angry and hungry cats! Oops! :o Forgot to stop to get cat food last night, so I jumped in the car and ran up to Petco and got a large bag of the good "hairball" food they had before. No more hairballs or stinky poops! Yay! They seem to like it too. I got the really big bag this time to save some money. I wish those bags had the zip closure on them tho.

I need to get on a "diet" of some sort for the winter. I have gained 10 pounds since I moved out here a year ago. I bought 4 pairs of "like new" jeans at the carport sale yesterday and they are all just a tad bit too tight so that will be my motivation to get into those. I am thinking about the Keto diet since the food allowed with that is stuff I actually like. Anyone familiar with that one with some advice?? (I know it would help a lot to stop eating cookies, candy bars and donuts! )

Off to work shortly... have a great day! :D

California is voting this week on whether or not to turn back the clocks for daylight savings time. I have a feeling that will pass to no longer do that. Yay! Would take effect, of course, next year.

Hello everyone!

Tina, while you are in FL, will you be coming through Ocala? We'd love to see you! Carol, so glad you & Bill are having better days. You deserve it! Sarah, I hope you won't have to deal with any of the possible tornadoes. Stay safe. We are looking forward to seeing you this winter! Martha, it sounds like your cat is recuperating well from her surgery. Karen, good luck on your clothes sorting. Not one of my favorite chores. Barbie, I'm not on a keto diet nut have been on a high/medium protein/low carb diet for over four years and lost and kept off 40 pounds. I have eliminated potatoes, breads, pastas, cakes, cookies and carby veggies from my diet and it has worked for me. Velda & someone else here is on a keto diet so hopefully they can give you the information you need.

Church was this morning and I played again, but I love doing that. Went to see the cardiologist this week and all my numbers were better than good and was given the okay to drive again. So I drove to and from church this morning and Steve is off the hook from having to chauffeur me everywhere.

It's warm and very humid in Ocala, but I'm not complaining. I'd rather be muggy than cold in MD.

Have a good first Sunday in November!

Clocks set back here before bed last night. Lots of work to do 4 of them  Tina you crack me up. Love the way you word things. Been there done that on the closet clearing. Down to what I wear and no more.

Irmi, I’m with you on the high/medium/low carb/high protein stuff. Did the same thing last winter. Cut out the potatoes, casseroles, sweet stuff, bread etc., too and dropped 27 pounds. Got a little lax this summer, but only gained 5 back. Am now starting to get on track again. My carb craves are low in winter anyway. No worry about the holidays, as other than Thanksgiving, no goodies, parties or big meals to deal with and thanksgiving is low key too if I go to friends for dinner. We keep it simple. I have been having craving for lettuce salad of late too.

Chilly and rainy here too. We had the 10th coldest October on record this year, average high of 43.9 degrees. No kidding. They aren’t telling us anything we didn’t already know. It was also wet, with 1.09 inches over average on rainfall. So it was, just get out and get things done when it stopped raining long enough. Seems like it rained everyday somewhere along the line. Was a challenge doing leaves, cutting firewood, cleaning up gardens or whatever else needed doing. Everybody was saying same thing. Now November's upon us and a wet, windy forecast this week along with lake effect snow by week’s end. But I’m ready, outside is done. Let come what may.

Irmi, I am driving down to the Orland dog shows with Josef's co-owner, Cindy, like I did last hear. She is bringing two dogs and I am bringing just Josef. This trip is by Chrysler mini van and includes an inexpensive motel. After the last show on that Saturday we will drive over to the coast and visit another English Cocker breeder that lives in Jacksonville. We haven't seen them since last December. when Cindy and I had to do a quick turn around so she could get back to school by Monday morning. Cindy retired last June and is looking forward to visiting her friends.

I am hoping to get back out of Ohio but will need to return so that I can unload dog stuff and pick up the RV and Honda. I haven't decided all my destinations and time frame yet. Will post when I know more. But then most of my destinations get made up as I go..... Sweet! What I do know is that I don't expect to be needed back for my seasonal employment until late March which is a dramatic change from years past and gives me more time for traveling.

Tina, Steve & I will miss you. We often tell friends about the GTG where you gave us your car & car keys to take our food for meals and we didn't even know you, but you trusted us with your vehicle. We miss those days.

In case any of you read this, Steve & I are in Ocala for the winter and if you would like to GTG, we can plan something around your schedule. I love to cook but this campground is very busy, but they have a rally row, for things like this. So get your thinking caps on!

I am smiling here Irmi. Did you tell them that knowing you had the car I knew that one of the best cooks would be able to bring the results of her talents to the gtg. I am good for loaning my car and my kayaks but I don’t bring the tastiest foods!

There was a deadly shooting today in town where I work (Vista). We heard the helicopters overhead saying they were looking for someone but it was hard to understand exactly what they were saying so we didn't pay too much attention to it. Turns out two men shot another man and were headed on foot towards downtown Vista so the police were on a manhunt all afternoon. Yikes!

Was a super busy day at work today! Made a lot in tips. Did two redoes from one of the gals I work with. The management is putting a lot of pressure on us to cut faster so I am noticing more redoes coming back. I don't worry about what "they" tell us. It takes me as long as it takes me to do a good, quality haircut. If "they" don't like it, too bad. I am one of their best stylists, so it's not like they are going to fire me.

Am very tired tonight tho so will probably go to bed early. Tomorrow I am off work and have an appointment with U-Haul at 9 am to get my Jeep wiring fixed and a break controller installed. Will hang out at the beach while they are working on it. :D

Have a good night!
