Stormy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Stormy Saturday

Good morning gals! :D

Last night was really exciting! We had several very loud thunderstorms roll thru for hours! I was in heaven! I love and miss those since we rarely get them here. And this one was a doozie! Torrential rains came down and the creek came up about 5 feet for awhile. That has settled down some now but more rain expected today yet.

While I was laying in bed last night, I heard a loud "crack" and a crash. I figured it was a tree along the creek. Went out this morning to check on things and discovered a large limb on my huge pine tree had come down! Luckily, it fell away from the house. Looks like it may have been struck by lightning. But now I am worried that the main trunk of the tree is compromised and since the tree leans a little toward my house, that could mean trouble later on. Will have to get a tree expert out to look at it (the park management is responsible for doing that). I would hate to have to get the whole tree removed since it is so pretty and shades my house, but I also don't want it falling on me!

Nothing planned for today with the possibility of more rain and storms coming thru. I have a MeetUp dinner to go to tonight in Escondido with the Happy Campers group. BBQ, yum!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Josef made another quick trip back to the vet's office this morning. The incision on his foot looked like it had opened up a wee bit. He came away with two more staples. He has four total now but you wouldn't know it to watch him move. Since the growth was removed from a spot between the pads of his rear foot there is limited things we can do. They just gave him a local to numb the foot this morning to add the stitches and he still walked out with no limp or visible favoring of the foot. Even watching him walk I see the muscles in his rear driving his feet and putting who knows what pounds of pressure on that foot. Sigh. Because they want the wound to breath they don't even want to keep the foot wrapped up. I would say keeping him on a leash would help but even in the house he is jumping up and down right next to me. He is a Moose. So I will keep watching it daily. I was thinking Super Glue, but maybe on a foot that wouldn't work either. I know that super glue is used on some wounds..... And after letting Lark and Audrey back into the house a few minutes ago I turn around and notice someone has brought in a 5 foot tree limb. I had to explain that outside toys needed to stay outside. All three dogs looked concerned when I tossed it over the railing of the deck.

Barbie, did you send part of that limb to Tina's?

A quick note... If you have any responses to posts from the private room, please make them there. No matter how innocuous, everything brought up there, stays there. Thanks.

I'm doing nothing today. We'll go for a good walk. I might go over and dump just in case many are leaving tomorrow and it might be a wait. I'm just lazy lol.

Did you mean "please DON'T make them here"?

Barbie, re-read it... It says please make them there. Which also means not to make them here.

Good thing I decided to go out to the barn early because the idiot cows had knocked the fence down around the pump and broke a pipe. Water was poring out and flooding the yard. The water for the house comes from the community water system so I only had to turn the water for the barn off.

Barbie, that tree looks like it has bark damage in the area where the limb broke. It might be a good idea for the whole tree to be taken down.

Not doing much today. The Cattle Festival is going on in town but not going to that. They moved it from the down town area and are charging $5 to get in. I heard someone complaining about that in a store the other day. I doubt that will help the vendors. The only reason that I ever stopped by was to get a Funnel Cake and I sure won't pay $5 just to get in to get that.

It has warmed back up some but it's very windy so that helps. I probably should go see if I can do more mowing before the rain that's in North Louisiana and Texas gets here. I heard there was flooding in Texas. We are just starting to dry out, we don't need any flooding.
