Seeya Gal... (Jenny and Dan) that was a great tip... that's exactly what I do... I've been boondocking most of my RV life..as with dog shows ..there was no dump .. sometimes no water and electric so you were on your own...yes, it was only weekends..but somtimes it was full weeks as we have our Specialties.... so for me.. I was on the Conserve kick from years ago..... and when I did dishes I used a dish pan.. You know the ones you get from the hospitals LOL I have several by the way... and when I was through it never went down the drain.. it always was watering someone's plants ..I mean a dish pan of water is not alot to toss....Also when it came to taking a shower..it wasn't every day.. it was every other and I used the dish pan again to wash down or you can use those Heat in the Microwave Wash cloths... but you can definitely get by without using a lot of water... oh and the black tank.. don't know how large yours is... but years ago.. my older coaches I could go for at least a week or better before having to dump.... As far as the blue dingy... I'd only use it for the gray water if I had to...don't think I could do the black tank...no...not me... Oh and there were times when we had special caps on our gray tank you could hook an old hose (Garden hose ) and run off the gray tank to a drain.. if we had too... ..ok... now that's my part....

Find out how much storage your black and gray tank have... that really helps...

I like Jenny don't drive with full tanks either..that just puts more weight on and adds to your mileage.. I still have tanks I carry to fill with water and have a pump (plastic) that I can fill jugs for the winter months in the North East..

Ok.. hope this has given you more insite...

God Bless

You all are wondeful! Yes, that is exaxctly what I wanted to know. Next week will be our first time using dump stations, but I want to go to Edisto SC & the Chinese Crested Nat'l in Nashville TN this fall. We had bought the RV so we could take the dogs & go to dog shows. DH didn't stay retired & lost interest, but I haven't.

In Edisto we'll have everything but sewer hook ups. At the Nat'l I'll be boondocking. Probably no water, elec & no dump station. How do you find a place that will let you dump? I'm not crazy about coming down the Mtn from Nashville with full tanks! I thought I'd ask the ppl at the show who were boondocking too. But I wish I had a guidebook or something.

I do have all the pprwork that came with our Allegro. I'll get that out & see what size tanks I have. It was so important to DH that we had a self contained RV, but it does us no good if we don't know how to use it. I'll be lurking around here reading all your posts so I can do it myself.

I saw a book at my local RV sales store that had all the dump station locations listed by state. I would think you could google that information somehow too. All the Flying J stations I've been to have a dump in the RV lane (for free).

Here's a website to help you locate dump stations. Often you can check with a town's public works location...they might have one.

When boondocking, I use a No Rinse body wash, available in medical supply drugstores, for sponge bathing. They also have No Rinse shampoo. Works well for me.

Almost all Flying J gas stations have dump stations which are free. If there are any rv parks/cg's in the area, you can stop and pay them a fee to dump. I've never had a problem finding a dump station when I needed one and have only paid once in over 3 years now. I look for the rest areas with them (some states have those) and the Flying J's, etc first.

Then there is a great website for dump stations: http://www.rvdumps.com - instead of buying a book, I suggest you use that :)

I love boondocking - and when I went to the RV Show in Perry, GA this past March, I boondocked there - no electric, water or sewer. BUT they did have a honey wagon and a truck who would fill your water (both for a fee) if necessary. I didn't need either. (A honey wagon is a company that comes around and empties your tanks.)

I look for out-of-the-way places to stay that are beautiful and people don't know about - and that means learning to conserve my tanks - when I'm traveling. And I always try to know where I can go when I leave them to dump. Sometimes, I'll look for a Passport America park close by for my next night that has full hookups and a laundry - get my tanks emptied, do my laundry, fill my water as necessary, etc.

Micki, YOu will also find out that most the Dog Show people..that stay in their RVs and not in the hotels..also hook up with others and share showers in the rooms... We did that for years... also most clubs if you need help have provisions for the Honey truck to come..if you are staying the week... Flying J's are around and you can check on their website...see what one is near you.. and you can fill up your water there ...so you can drive with empty tanks.. I always put my chemicals in my black tank and have that ready cause you know as sure as shootin while drivin someones got to go.. and it's always me !!! I won't be at the Nat'l as I'll be in Florida... but lots of my friends are going..only they are staying in the hotel... Again.. you will be ok... and don't sweat it... I've done it for years and I do mean years.. in winter time I carried Jugs... I have 6 Gal Jugs and I'd bring them like (5) and have them in my bath tub.. they'd be my water for bathroom and washing or cookin... or dishes.. and always there would be some one that went into the rest rooms and would grab a jug if it got empty and re fill... that was the standing joke.. Refill Zeee's jugs you might get something good to eat on the return... Yep.. I was the cook LOL... You know dog show people... jump on that wagon.. !!!

Any way.. you will be fine... and if you're not sure on what size tank you have you can call Tiffan Motors.. they are wonderful people and they will tell you.. just give them your year of rig and model...that simple..

Ok.. I also want a full report on what happens at the show... YOu know I miss all that...but I have so many friends that call and just tell me the lastest gossip...guess it's something that never is out of my blood anyway...tooo many years...lots of wonderful stories to go along with it..

Good Luck and if you need any help.. Just yell we all come running...

God Bless
