The Murrey Family Farm just east of Bakersfield has the BEST fruit. We got cherries and a bouquet of these sweet peas that we had in the van until yesterday morning. They smelled heavenly!
The first night we stayed in a friends condo in Lake Havasu, it was VERY hot! But just a quick stop, so no bother, and we were up early to visit the Grand Canyon. No pics, as I can't do it justice. We took a long walk along the rim trail, in the opposite direction from the crowds.
On a quick detour off Highway 40 for a root beer float on Route 66 we found 1966!
At Holbrook we left 40 intending to do 180 southeast across New Mexico to Las Cruces via Deming. A quick change of mind and we made another detour, this time to Snowflake. We wanted to see where Raney's brother and family had lived many years ago. (btw, Raney is one of my oldest and dearest friends, not quite 50 years, but soon!). grandkids went to bed. Here is the newest member of their family. His name is Charlie, 18 months, and completely mellow!
The next day I left R with her family and headed out across Highway 10 for Austin. Wind and rain, I finally got ahead of the storm. The south edge was stalled right over us, but it didn't let loose until about 10 pm. Thunder and lightning for hours!
Along about the RV Park in Ozona the wildflowers started. The right of way along the highway was a mass of this yellow daisy. Many more and kinds I didn't know all through the Hill Country and into Austin.
My DGD was so excited to see me and LOVED the Roadtrek. I can tell she gonna be a camper too!
