An October Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

An October Friday

Morning. Waiting for electricians to come do some things I want done, so being lazy this morning. Then will go to town later on maybe. Need a small hand pump to put some pink stuff in my Black Water tank flush system. Otherwise my trailer is winterized. Didn’t take long once A friend helped me get the anode rod out of hot water tank. I think the shop must have used an air gun and stuck it in for life  I know they need to be tight, but geez. Actually winterizing it wasn’t bad once I found the necessary valves to open and close as my trailer has an antifreeze inlet that allows the pump to pull the antifreeze through the system.

Beth, glad you pulled off the road. Hope those winds died down so you can continue on. They were talking a significant snow system for out west, but I think it’s mostly in the mountain areas that I hope you weren’t planning to go through. Barbie, maybe a vet checkup for the fleas may not be a bad idea.

Fall color is coming in slow but sure. I’m enjoying this colder weather, although we are about 20 degrees below norm right now. The U.P. Is getting a bit of snow/rain mix this morning in the western areas. Nice to be able to haul out the flannel shirts etc. and the cooler weather gear.

Well, I’m just rambling on here, so am quitting. Hope you all have a nice day out there.

It is cold, cold, cold, and rainy here north of Bend, OR. It is raining throughout all of Oregon and Washington, which should mean no new fires for a while. Right now it is 50 degrees outside, but it got down to 37 last night! Glad I refilled my propane yesterday on my way here. I am in a no-hookup, Forest Service Campground that will close in a few days, so it is pretty empty. Even the camp host has packed up and left. No boaters on this lake this weekend, I imagine. As far as I can see, there is only one trailer and one group of tenters nearby, so it is nice and quiet, other than my generator running right now! At least it is on the other side of my rig, so is not noisy where the tenters are. And they are gone for the day looking for a more dry activity for them and their two kids.

Heard coyotes yipping last night, which I have not heard for quite a while. I always enjoy that noise, knowing that there are wild things around here!

This morning I was fogged in. My planned 7/7:30 start was delayed till almost 9 and I still had fog, but not as bad, for at least 15 miles. Winds started out gently and as tail winds. I didn't realize how much stronger they became until I turned west. OMG, lol. Then I saw a large flashing road sign saying "Danger: Extremely High Winds" which made my decision to stop for today. Especially because in about 60 miles I'll go through an area that's always windy. Now I can do that tomorrow morning.

I'm at a city park that allows free 1st night stays with electric. I filled my propane yesterday, but tonight I can use my electric heater (lows in the 30's).

My route keeps changing because of the weather. Oh well. Maybe I'll save some gas money :)

Judy, how much longer are you in Oregon and then where are you heading?

Good job winterizing, Sue.

Worked for 5 hours this morning until 2pm and then did the shopping I didn't do yesterday. Then went to visit my neighbor to check out some of her craft ideas. Need to come up with ideas for all the pine cones I have in my yard. Here is a little pumpkin I made while there. It is made from an orange bandana.

Not sure what happened to my avatar photo and Lola's photo. Will have to try and put up new photos.

Beth, I hope you finally get to your destination before Christmas! What state/area are you in?

I came across the first poem I wrote back in grade school...I also did the artwork, lol! Was written about my 24 pound Siamese cat we called Fat Cat. He wasn't really fat, but just a large cat in general!

Actually I'll be getting south way faster than intended... And not seeing the things I planned.

I'm currently in Colorado.

Excellent poem for grade school! What grade were you in?

And, Beth, Colorado is a BAD place to be this time of year. I hope you are east of the front range, at least!
