Dreary Friday 9-21

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Dreary Friday 9-21

Good afternoon! Missed morning coffee again but I'll be making more crab cakes this afternoon for any pop in visitors. We got another half bushel of steamed crabs yesterday, had a crab feast and will pick the rest for other meals.

I've received the bulletin for Sunday's church service, so I need to practice for that. This coming Wednesday, we are leaving for a campground on the MD/DE line for a week getaway. It'll be nice to have a change of scenery. The weather is starting to cool off and we are living with the windows open and not using the a/c nearly as much, which is a nice change.

Not sure what's going on with my left ear, but I'm having lots of trouble hearing with it, so will make an appointment with our doctor in Ocala as soon as we get there to have a referral for an ENT appointment. The Father of our church gave me a recommendation, so will see if the doctor agrees and will let me go there. The reason I'm waiting until we get to Ocala is because we'll be leaving south soon and don't want appointments here holding us up. So I'll be giving notice at our MD church that we'll be leaving and will fill in as organist at the FL church shortly after we get there.

Irmi, I hope it is something simple and reversible. It is nice to hold on to all the faculties that we can for as long as we can!

No dog shows this weekend but off to my 50th high school reunion. Informal get together tonight at the American Legion and the formal dinner reunion tomorrow evening. Home town is only about thirty miles away so not a travel issue for me. And for that matter if there had been a close by dog show I might not have sent in my reservation. People watcher that I am, I am sure to find folks of interest.

Tina, have fun at your reunion. Mine will be coming up in 2021 and I plan on going, although I haven't been to one for many years. I was, and still am, a recluse (Steve has been a big help in that department and this is a work in progress), but am trying to talk myself into going.

Can I pop in for a visitor crab cake? Tempting. Missing eastern crabs and lobster rolls.

I am really bored today. It is between semesters, so not as much work to do, and not many things to do at this campground, nor places to go for shopping, not that I really need to shop. Don't know how I will ever "settle down" some place if I get so bored staying someplace for 10 days! Keeping the scenery moving really is what I like to do.

Got a few things to do for this upcoming semester, so better get down to doing them.

I have been busy this warm(94 degrees) day in northern California . Picked up death certificates and paid last $ to funeral home. Got credit union switched to me. Starting paperwork on first packet to arrive, his state survivor benefit package for me. Got car smogged so can go online tomorrow and pay that once computer from smog place to state resets. Went to Curves and down almost 10 lbs in two months plus 6 inches total in two months. Now to convince myself to slow down, nothing is critical. Decided to skip my class picnic that is annual event between every five year reunions. Just didn't feel like a two hour drive plus back or getting RV ready for overnight. Chris and I say farewell to our last house guest tomorrow then get on with figuring out our new routines.
Have a good weekend all.

Tomorrow is the first ever Mt Rushmore 1/2 marathon. Over 2500 people are expected to participate. The starting point is almost immediately next to the store at 6 am tomorrow. I'll sleep through that. But we're picking up business today and I'm told we can expect to be slammed tomorrow afternoon and evening. My vendors didn't understand what was happening and kept cutting us back on product because of the season ending. I made a few calls today, maybe slightly not nice, and at least got a couple vendors to come back today with more product. (Yes, I know we'll look barren on the shelves, done already do, but I can have some of the products I know will sell.

Irmi, safe travels. I hope your hearing isn't going, but as mine's been gone so long, I'll admit it's not the worst of the senses to lose. Hopefully yours is nothing major.

Velda, just keep taking it one step at a time. You're doing great.

Got up early this morning to open the shop. I don't usually get the first shift but it was busy and I did good with tips.

Stopped for lunch on the way home and then laid down out on the porch and fell asleep for over 3 hours! I have tomorrow off. I bought a Groupon awhile back for JC Penney Portrait studio so am going there tomorrow at noon. Just want a decent photo of myself. The DISH guy is also coming out to get my roommate's TV hooked up.

My hearing isn't what it used to be either. I should get that checked one of these days.

I have my 40th class reunion coming up next summer. Not sure if I will go. It is usually very expensive and the ones I hung out with then usually don't go anyways.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
