Josef, Lark and are near Brighton, MI, for an English Cocker Regional Specialty that is held every year at the near by recreational area. Josef's other mother is driving up and staying with us. The weather is delightfully cool and I am loving it. I won't mind having to wear a jacket tomorrow but am hoping that we are far enough north to miss some of the rain. Thought I would come sit and enjoy this campfire since I know that I won't be bothering with one outside even with favorable temperatures. Audrey got spayed Wednesday and stayed home this weekend in her little jump suit...to protect her incision. As long as food come at regular intervals and no one is kayaking without her I don't think she will worry about being left behind. My cat/dog sitter is picking her up this evening and going to keep her over night until tomorrow evening since Dennis will be gone for about 14 hours tomorrow at a Pottery Show. Audrey may like the attention at Connie's house so much that she won't want to come back. It is nice to have a dog that can fit in so well about where ever she goes.

Time to walk some dogs and enjoy that part of being in a camp ground.

Two weeks from now the store will have been closed for the season for a few hours. This season is quickly coming to an end. Then a couple days to do inventory, etc and I'll be on the road. Weather permitting I'll be taking a route through the mountains, meandering as long as the weather allows.
That all sounds good, but for those who know I'm not a morning person, having to open the store the majority of the days this next two weeks stinks lol

I'm putting myself on a strict budget this winter. I want to see how little I can live on and still be doing what I want to do and traveling as I like to travel. The past few years I've been spending too much.... On things that aren't really necessary... Going to put a stop to it!

I smile kindred spirit and wish you good luck with your plan Beth. I want a crystal ball that will tell me how much I can spend and use for adventures NOW, while I am physically and mentally here with timing that brings me down to that last wire without any thing "left over." I think of the Kay Peterson story of the beautiful treasures that individuals put away in their treasure trunks because they are too nice to use and then the "stuff" never gets used. With money I want that crystal ball that finds the balance point between "enough" to take care of the unknown future and the other unknown future that finds us living with regrets for what we didn't do or try or experience because we find ourselves with a bank account and am no longer in a position to enjoy it or care about it......

Remember a short time ago when I talked of a new restaurant I liked? Especially, the decor. I said they had epiphilliums hanging from the ceiling. I stand corrected. They are Air plants hanging from the ceiling. 1600 go them. Here is a picture.

Very nice restaurant decor and plants.

Tina, I remember arguing with my mother to spend her money. She hated the thought of ending up a burden on us. Well, after she landed in a nursing home all her money had to be spent before Medicare could kick in. I want to spend my money first... Should a similar day come. On the other hand I don't see any reason to overspend... I want to continue to take Alaska trips, for example... And I don't skimp on the tours, etc, that I really want to do.

It is a being smart but also taking some risks.....balancing of our choices. I remember not doubting spending the money for the airplane flight around Denali.... :)

Exactly. I didn't flinch at my Denali flight, my LuLu Belle tours, my float plane ride, etc. Bucket list items. Have to fit them in! It's the times I say do I really want to do that? Those I have to consider carefully. And all the times I go out to eat when I'd rather not... Mainly because I want to spend time with the person or people... But only a small portion of those expenditures are ok for me.

Lyn my niece would love to see that place...she loves air plants but they need watered as well
wonder how they accomplish that??? I've taken to soaking mine once a week they seem to do better
that way than just misting
back from a trip to Utah went down to help my eldest sometimes we bite off more than we can chew!!
she decided to remodel the basement this summer she used different companies to get the work done
almost done except for the basement bathroom and that company is slow in getting the work done but he tends to be pulled different directions (it's her husband... they wanted to do something in the remodeling and to help cut costs so are doing the tile) all that is left is some tiling a few out lets need to be checked as they aren't putting out electricity and the painters need to come and spot paint...in the meantime it is back to school and moved into a portable classroom which had no space so she is having to bring stuff back and forth...brought it from school put it on the carport...basically no room in the house at the moment..so it was put in the car port till space could be found...guess the city either got a complaint or were driving by and the got a warning clean up or else...so we gathered and put it up one of the closets held most of it and the fridge was going out so needed to move one from the back part of the patio to the front to make it accessible till they get a diagnoses on the inside fridge then we went to the state fair so was a lot of work but lots of fun...the last time I was there I was going to clean the microwave but the way it was positioned just couldn't reach around the door to reach in... this weekend I asked dd why we put it there she couldn't remember so I suggested that it be moved to another part of the counter... so today I did that before I left now a person can reach in and get something out...it looked better at the other spot but so much more functional ...then came home
in need of the campfire...there is another fire in Ut and think here in Idaho saw the smoke but don't know where it was...if in deed it was fire just looked like it and some what of a smell
heard that 18 have died in the path of Florence...my grandkids evacuated but hear that they have water in the house here is hoping that the walls aren't damaged the carpet will probably have to go... and she is due to leave on a deployment soon he just returned...

my daughter's radio went out and since it was under warranty when she got an appointment for a new one to be put
in guess it was cheaper than fixing the old radio...I got to take the car out and have the radio put in...so since I haven't been there in forever went to camping world...one thing hasn't changed one could spend lots of money there... usually if it's for a RV it increases the cost but some things I priced out was surprised at..my faucet for the kitchen sink needs to be replace although not at the top of the list I was surprised that they were not bad now to measure and see if it will fit...some how my ladder on the back of the 5th wheel has been bent don't know how but feel like it is something that I need to replace but guess they don't replace them with like item but another type of ladder one is a telescoping I think was the word but then one has to figure out where to put it...oh well will give it thought and decide it seems like there are lots that need to been repaired and then another one pops up guess it is what happens when one has lived in something for 11 years.. I have just been really lucky not to have issues till recently
have had some projects I've been working on finished one almost finished another one and starting another...keeps one busy

Stoking the fire a bit~~~
I got out of South Dakota after the 61 mph wind day and am in Nebraska, so I haven't made it as far south as Beth did. Am supposed to head to Kansas on Monday & then on to Oklahoma to visit a friend, but now that may be delayed too.

I've been looking for a truck for a while, but haven't found one yet. Have also been tossing around the idea of a new TT too. One without a slide. May have found a TT today which is why the route south may be delayed. Same brand that I have now. If I decide to get it, that means I don't need to upgrade to a 3/4 ton truck & can do a 1/2 ton, which would save me a ton of $$$ on the truck side.

Decisions, Decisions!

After traveling for a year, checking out new housing options and investigating tow vehicles becomes much more informed. All those things that personal experience have taught you are important to you. Have fun deciding!

Not so much fun  Big decisions are the only time I wish I had someone to talk things over with.
