Monday and Another Week Begins

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday and Another Week Begins

Postby Colliemom » Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:18 am

Morning from the sunny north. Thanks for starting coffee yesterday Irmi. You are going to miss those crabs when you head back to FL. Just dy, sounds like you are enjoying the park you are staying in. Ours are really quiet too now, especially during the week. Season is winding down. I’m starting to see some color starting to appear in the trees here and there now too. Planning to go camping one more time at end of month and hoping weather will be decent.

But today I am going to finish up the last of the outdoor painting projects as cooler, wet weather is on forecast for most of latter part of the week. My deck is done, but decided that since I have some leftover paint from doing my front porch a couple years ago, that I am going to go over it again and touch up some areas where it has chipped off. Also going to paint the upper part of the exterior basement walls as they are looking dirty and shoddy. So that’s this morning’s project. Yesterday I power washed them, the house, part of shed and garage. Want to do the sidewalks and garage apron today too. With fall coming on and days getting cooler and shorter, the window for doing this kind of stuff is slowly closing.

Watching the stories emerging from NC of all the flooding, tornadoes etc. I hope Florence starts picking up speed as it heads toward the northeast and you gals up that way don’t have a long, lingering rain event.

Time to get moving here. Hope you all have a nice day out there.

Morning Sue and all that follow. Happy Monday, so far anyway. Clear blue skies and sunshine...again. We never got a drop of rain with our 30% chance LOL Jose will be here again today to work on my fence, he has to dig the roots out from my big a** hedge. Tough job I think. Heck I have trouble with some weeds. Going to hook up with Malia and Gloria J Knight LeBlanc for lunch either today or tomorrow.

I got some exciting news yesterday. Emma's breeder from Michigan will be judging at the Tibetan Spaniel Specialty show here in Oregon. I am volunteering there so will take my RV up to Albany. She is looking forward to a picture with Emma. I know pretty much know zilch about showing so only involved in the behind the scenes LOL

No projects today as I also have some errands to run, including lunch out so I hate to get started then have to quit. I am ready to tear out my tomato plants and zucchini plant. I think my bell pepper plant is already done anyway. That will happen tomorrow. Then I too have a bit of outside painting touch up to do. We will be in the 70's all week so only 1 day predicted at 80° so this week sounds productive.

Watching all the flooding in the Carolinas. A friend of mine her house was hit by the tornado AND flooding, pretty sad. Crazy weather everywhere.

Am very grateful for nice sunny weather here! Altho we really could use some rain.

Today I need to go to H&R Block and show them that letter I got and get to the bottom of that. Then call the guy who installed my washer, as there is a small amount of water leaking from the hose in back. Then pay mid-month bills. Then off to work later this afternoon.

Still combing off fleas from the cats. Not many and most are dead or dying but still don't want to find any. They are banned from my bedroom until they are totally flea free, so they sit outside my bedroom door at night and cry. :(

Have a lot of stuff piled up and laying around my bedroom and bathroom that needs to get sorted and organized and put away. Will work on that tomorrow since I have the day off.

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, if your cats still have fleas, maybe it's time to bomb again, especially before Denise comes back. If you haven't bombed the under side of your home, might want to try that, too. I can't figure out how they're getting fleas, staying inside 24/7.

Nothing new here. We have the remnants of Florence moving through tonight and tomorrow but shouldn't be bad. I have family in NC that have moved in with other family members because of no power and damage in the yard, lots of water in the basement, etc. My sister, who has a beach house in Atlantic Beach visited there yesterday and said it looks like a war zone.

The last remains of crab meat will turn into crab cakes for today's dinner. Looks like we'll need to order at least one more half bushel of steamed crabs before we leave for FL.

Hope of of you are well and safe.

All the crab talk is making me hungry for crabs and lobster! And a half-bushel at a time--wow!

Have been feeling tired lately, so will be glad to get on a new medication in a couple of weeks. That should really help me. At least I have been getting lots of sleep--like 8-10 hours a day. This cooler weather really helps sleeping and it lets me get out and walk around a couple of times a day. Last time I was here, it was in upper 90s to 100+, so this is much better.

Barbie, have you been vacuuming every day? They say that really helps get rid of any eggs and newly hatched fleas. Might have to spray inside of vacuum cleaner and dump the bag more often, and even store it outside for a while. What about washing cat beds if you have any?

Ty got his first bath by me... Obviously he's had them before ... He was the perfect bather. I was happily shocked.

This afternoon I rearranged my large outside storage bin. I had to get help to move the spare tire to where I wanted it. I'm sure I'll be having trouble finding things for months. But it was necessary to make things I need often in front of the side entrance as the back entrance isn't as easily accessible when the scooter is in place. Maybe I'll surprise myself and this will not cause the losses I expect of my memory lol.

I had a few minutes of panic today. I was looking for my drivers license because I was going to need it at the bank. It wasn't in the little wallet I keep it in. I was missing my drivers license, insurance card and medicare card so I knew the last time I had it was at the doctor's office. I searched my purse and the car and couldn't find them. Finally I searched my purse again and found them in a side pocket. Whew. I think I need to clean my purse.

Karen, tell Gloria Hi. I haven't seen her in a few years.

Barbie, I guess you are going to have to sleep on the porch with the cats. lol I can about imagine how much sleep I would get if I locked them out of my room. Stinky sleeps by my head. She can be nowhere in sight and I try to get in bed as quiet as I can but she will be there in a minute.

I need to go finish a cake I made to bring to Texas. I want to make some pralines but don't feel like standing in the kitchen to make them. My knees have been hurting all day. I don't know what I did to cause that. I think my car is trying to cripple me. The seats are too stiff and low. I have to sit on a pillow or my hips kill me if I drive very long.

Martha, didn't you get a little Mazda Miata with your new RV? Is that what you are driving? I don't think those are made for comfort!

Sheila, maybe the hedgehogs ran off with the cake pan!

I hope the cats ...oops...too late! I was gonna say I hope the cats don't start meowing outside my bedroom door tonight, and now Emily just started meowing. Denise came home this afternoon after a rough couple of days at her daughters place. Some domestic issues there with the daughter's hubby I guess. She went to bed early.

She did leave me a couple chocolate bars with a note that said "Happy Roommate's Day!". She knows me pretty good already! :D

Resolved the income tax issue but will write more about that tomorrow.

I offered to take a coworkers shift tomorrow since she has a medical issue and can't work tomorrow. Tonight was slow but I did get a $20 tip from a guy! Awesome! Another client, a teenage boy, said I gave him the best haircut he has ever had! That is quite a compliment coming from a teenager! So that made me feel really good!

I just caved and let the meowing cats in my bedroom. Now they are fighting on the bed! They might just end up back out on the porch tonight!
