Good Morning Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning Thursday

Postby BirdbyBird » Thu Sep 13, 2018 9:23 am

Good Morning Thursday. Just a few last minute packing up things in preparation to leaving the driveway once again for a weekend dog show. Staying closer to home and in Ohio for this one. Josef will get his "right before we leave" bath tomorrow morning and off we will go. Only two days of shows and I think I still have enough clothes in the rig already to cover that regardless of what the weather gods send us to cope with.

Need to retrieve that last of the clothes from the drier and pack sort and put them away. Some of the jeans have been getting too baggy (at last!) and I need to put them aside and retrieve a couple of the pants that are a size smaller. Hoping that over time these changes will help my sciatica and leg discomfort. Lark would appreciate much longer walks!

Watch the wind and the water out there if you are anywhere in the path of those things. Check in with survival stories.

Good morning gals!

Looks like Hurricane Florence has been downgraded to a 2 now which is good news but still can do a lot of damage and flooding. Hope everyone is in a safe place now.

Slept good again last night. Have a lot to do today so need to get moving here soon. Denise will be by today to pick up her key and drop off the rent check which will be needed to pay for repairs to the washing machine. Have a guy coming out tomorrow morning to look at it.

Lola is being very sweet and affectionate this morning. I better go check her food dish! She only gets that way when she is hungry!
Haven't seen Emily yet this morning.

That's about it here... have a good day! :D

I'm busy having anxiety over last minute details of visitation and funeral. Otherwise I'm ok kind of. Sleeping better than others predicted. And still losing a few ounces a day and rolling eyes at people who say, oh you've lost weight, it must be the stress ! I'll be more active here in a week or so. Burial at Dixon CA at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Tuesday at 1. Then my real adjustment begins.

We all will be thinking of you. And you are right to anticipate what strength you might need to create/finding your new normal after the whirl wind of action taking care of the funeral and immediate details.

I think sometimes that is the most difficult part of losing someone. You are so busy with the funeral arrangements and have lots of people coming to visit and attend the funeral, but when it is all over and everyone has gone home, you are left alone to deal with the silence and the reality of your loss and it can hit you hard. That is a good time to connect with close friends, get out and do something you enjoy, and of course, go thru the grieving process however that feels right for you.

Others on here have gone thru a similar situation as yours, Velda, and can help you along your new journey. Don't hesitate to reach out for support.

Velda, praying for strength for you to get through the next week. Like Barbie said, the calm after the storm is hard.

Still watching the weather channel and Florence. Hopefully it won't be as bad as predicted since it is losing strength. They won't get as much wind but they are going to get a lot of water. The weather channel has a guy out in the wind telling people they shouldn't be doing that.

I am back to wearing my rubber shoes since it's so wet. It rained again today and there is more rain all around. The temperature is only 85 so I was out messing around in the camper but it's still too hot to stay in there very long. The neighbor said he was going to call the guy that drives the truck that sprays for mosquitoes but I haven't seen him yet. The mosquitoes swarm me if I walk in the grass.

The cat I picked up in New Orleans is one goofy cat. I can pet him on the back porch but not the front. If I go sit on the back steps sometimes he will get in my lap. I guess he was use to some people being mean to him.

Velda, thanks for posting. I was thinking of you this morning and wondered how you were. After my SIL's funeral, and all the company had left, just I was there with the daughter. She then asked me to leave as she wanted to be alone!!! I was shocked at first, however, a couple of widows on this forum told me that was their reaction also. They just wanted to be alone after all that high tension. Interesting....lyn

We don't have a lot of company. All my Aunts, Uncles, grandparents and parents are gone years ago. Tonight one long time Navy friend is arriving. Cousin Mike will return tomorrow. Otherwise it's just Chris and I. I will tell you, that, although I did each of my parents funerals, as an only child, losing a spouse is totally different. Feels different. Is different. People think they know because they lost a parent or sibling, and while those are taxing and horribly emotional, it has felt totally different to me to lose my spouse of 42 years and nearly 5 months. That fact smacked me because I thought I was ready. Not even!!!!!
Tomorrow visitation and funeral Friday. Then the emotional full honors. When those taps sound, I'm glad I will have Mike on one side and Chris on the other.

Velda,

We'll all be thinking about you & praying for you not just tomorrow but the days & weeks ahead.

I like to believe that our loved ones continue to be with us - in spirit if not physically.
Not quite the same, but keep your heart open to Mel's love to continue to flow to you.

While we weren't ready to loose Mom or Daddy, very interesting things happened when they passed on.
Daddy didn't want anyone to hang out at the graveside - it was the coldest day in years the day of his funeral & a flock of geese flew over the cemetary in the missing man's formation at just the right moment.
Mom, on the other hand, blessed the 8 of us kids with unseasonably warm weather (60's & 70's in Kansas in Feb!) while we spent the week together, planning 7 reminiscing - enjoying more togetherness in that week than we had in years. Storms & rain moved in the day of her funeral which sent us all home afterwards to nest & recoup as normal winter temps resumed.
We still believe they continue to watch over & intercede for us when needed.

Sending loving thoughts your way.
