An employee told the ice company on Saturday we didn't need ice. Luckily they work everyday during the busy summer months. I called them yesterday and they delivered last night. I think we had a half dozen bags left at that point. We're out of things I wish we weren't... Out of my control mainly... But those things that we could control drive me nuts.

A month from today I should be driving south. Amazing how fast this (and all summers anymore) get away from me.

Shirl, I just gave my daughter a bracelet for her birthday with that quote on it and I have one as well.

The Labor Day picnic here (on Saturday) was nice. Met some new people including the new HOA president who is a really nice and very outspoken guy from the East Coast. I think he will get a lot of things done around here. I won a raffle and got a little plaque.

Working later on today. Just putzing around here until then. Cloudy and cool here this morning.

I almost adopted a red eared slider turtle from a former co-worker the other day until I read up on how to care for them. We had lots of baby turtles when I was a kid and kept them in little plastic trays. They eventually died or we let them go in the lake. However, after reading about how big they get and the enormous tank they need, I changed my mind. I think I will stick with fish!

I woke up to news of Tropical Storm Gordon. Oh Joy. Right now they are saying it will not get too strong and will come in East of here which is the good side for us. It's not raining now but there is still some around here. I emptied the rain gauge yesterday and it had 2 1/2 inches in it. This morning it has 3 1/4 inches. I have wet shoes from yesterday so was looking for my rubber boots. I thought there was some in the utility room but my son must have thrown them away. I put on some beach shoes to make it to the camper to get my rubber shoes.

Barbie, my sister's son has a small snapping turtle in an aquarium. She says it is getting tame and doesn't bite. I wouldn't give him the chance. Her grandkids are always messing with it. They put too much food and burned up the pump. She said he is so fat he's hanging out of his shell. If someone sits by the aquarium he will swim over and tap on the glass. My brother caught a turtle when we were fishing when he was only about 3. He was so excited he was saying I caught a Tur. From then on grandpa called him Mr Tur. lol

Don't know what I will get done today. Probably not much.

Good Morning! I missed the check-in for the 1st, so here I am! With mostly the same ole and same ole days. One thing I wanted to comment on was the restaurant my daughter and I went to the other day. It was great! That will be my new "bring the guests too restaurant here in town. I loved the decor especially the ceiling in the patio area. It is a very high ceiling, and filled (100's) with hanging epiphyllums! I've never seen anything like it and loved it!!! The tacos were good too, and filling. Inexpensive too!

I have had so many lessons on how to post pictures, but have forgotten all I ever new. That's my next project!

Today is one of my favorite days of the week--watched most of the weekenders with big families pack up and leave! Since kids will be in school from now on, the campgrounds will be just us old folks and other long-term campers. It certainly is a lot quieter.

I'm at Bullard's Beach State Park in Oregon so it is cool, even chilly, and even sunny today, so it is nice to be able to have windows open during the day and have to have the heater going at night. Best time of the year for camping. Going to head into Bandon tomorrow to find a place to get my hair cut and visit the bakery.

So today is Labor day and I have been laboring. Home Depot and I seem to have an affinity for each other the past couple of days. I had to go get some spray paint to paint my outdoor furniture as I ran out and some color to spruce up the plant pots. Those cans dont last any time at all anymore. Guess only for graffiti. ALso needed some caulk for around my door on my shed. Then another trip as I ran over the hose with they sprayer end. Got what I needed, came home last night, watched youtube and mended my hose with ease. Until I found out I got the wrong end it was the female end and I needed the male so I could attach my sprayer. Apparently I dont know my male/female parts very well LOL So another trip to Home Depot this morning after spraying another chair so I could get the MALE part. Well of course they were out of that one. So off I go to the Co-op Grange and found the one I needed. Still have to put it on but lunch was calling.

The afternoons get pretty warm lately so might as well stay inside where it is cool and find something to watch on Netflix or Amazon video.

Karen, I love going to HomeDepot & Lowe's or old fashioned hardware stores. At my old house I had a Home depot practically right beind the house - usually just walked there mulitple times a day when I was working a project. Had to chuckle about the male/female parts.
Judy, I bet it is so much nicer once the campgrounds get thinned out a bit. And going into town to visit the bakery - Enjoy!
Martha, can you send some of that rain out here? Loved the story about the turtle.
Lyn, what's the name of the restuarant? The kids & I might have to try it sometime.

I'm having an interesting day. I posted an outdoor storage shed that is in my patio area on Craigslist & Facebook marketplace. Lots of responses. It gets confusing who's asking what sometimes. It's a wooden one & fairly large so they're going to have to take it apart & get it out over the privacy fence so we'll see who can really deal with it. Glad I posted it today rather than on a work day. Also glad that I have Sadie here to help showing it to people. I just hope someone can get it out of there.

Karen, glad you figured out the male parts from the female parts. Were you napping during sex ed in school? Lol!

When I got home from work today I saw the front screen was off the window. Must not have gotten put on tight enough after the house was washed the other day. Screens are old and none of them fit very well anymore. Need to get them replaced. Was very glad to see both cats were still inside the house. They easily could have escaped out the open window if they wanted.

I am wondering what is happening next door. The woman who lives there has cancer and lives alone. She hardly ever has anyone visit her and gets rides to the doctor, etc from taxis. There are two cars parked out front tonight so am worried something happened to her. Altho, maybe just some family visiting for Labor Day.

Have tomorrow off. Need to run some errands and then more cleaning in the bathroom and bedroom. Got a few little things done in there before work today.

Thought I was done with the fleas but found a live one on Emily tonight, so need to get more stuff to put on them. I have been using Advantage II but it seems to only work for 3 weeks and I read that other people complained about` that too. May try Frontline this time. Will pick some up tomorrow.

Thanks, Lyn. I'll try it out sometime. Finally found a pretty good Thai restaurant here. (We have one of the best in the nation in Kansas - yep, you heard that right - for really great Thai food, go to Kansas. )

My phone has been beeping off the hook today - so many inquiries about the shed - a few folks have come to see it but once they see how hard it'll be to move it, they regretfully back down. Have met some really nice folks though thru this process. Have one coming tomorrow that really, really wants it so I hope it works for them.

It's late & I need to get to bed.

Hang on, Catherine! I will be driving through Overland Park, KS, next May, on my way east, so I will want the name and address of that Thai restaurant! Will you be there then?

Seriously, I have been known to drive out of my way for good food, and this place looks like it will be right on my way. Am staying a week at Bloomington East campground on Clinton Lake, just west of Kansas City. And I have tried out several Thai restaurants in the past couple of years and cannot find anything as good as the one in Detroit I used to go to.

I really miss the ethnic food in Detroit. Like the other great eastern immigrant cities, Detroit has some of the best Middle Eastern, Polish, Italian, and various other types of food around. Very hard to get good ethnic food other than Mexican west of the Mississippi. Cities like New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC, and Detroit have long had large movements of immigrants into the cities that brought along their food and their good cooks! (I would pay a lot right now for some really authentic fresh kielbasa and some good Kosher pastrami.) And they are still coming, at least to Detroit. The newest group are Eastern Europeans from places like the Ukraine and the various Baltic states, so their food should be following them soon. Detroit already has the absolutely best Middle Eastern food in the country!
