Last Monday of August

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Monday of August

Postby Colliemom » Mon Aug 27, 2018 8:19 am

Morning gals. Damp, light rainy morning here. Welcome sight really, as we are in a moderate drought. Forecast is calling for possible strong or severe storms from last night through tomorrow, with a lull this afternoon. So far nothing other than the rain. Was supposed to have left on my next camping trip tomorrow, but cancelled the one park’s reservations. Don’t want to travel or go over the Mackinac Bridge with that kind of forecast. Better to just stay home and wait it out.

So, going to clean house this morning and get that done. Need to clean my BBQ grill grates too. Will take a run to town tomorrow and do a few errands etc. otherwise, just putts around on odds and ends here.

Velda, thinking of you and Mel this morning. Keeping you in my prayers. Got a chuckle out of the kitty and daughter episodes, but glad nobody got hurt. Not so funny when it happened, but you can laugh about it now. Glad you gals out west and even you Beth, are getting a break from the smoke.

Guess I’ll get this body moving. Y’all have a nice day :D

August is just flying by. Don't know what I will do today. On one of the Facebook RV groups I belong to someone posted that Bed Bath and Beyond is discontinuing the Clam Shelters and have the ones at the stores marked way down. I looked on the web site and didn't seen any way to see which stores have any. I might go by just to see if the local store has one and because I'm bored. Donna had shown how easy they are to put up at one of the GTG.

I had to get up this morning to break up a fight between CC and Frosty. I have a month to decide if I'm going to take CC to Texas. I don't really want to take him camping but he is always picking a fight with one of the other cats. I guess the deciding factor will be how hot it is. I'm afraid to leave an animal in an RV in case the air conditioner would go off.

Good morning for a few more minutes. I'm volunteering again, this time at Riverside Gifts. Only 2 customers in 2 hours. And I forgot to bring my book to read. At least I have my phone. I need to find a more active place to spend my volunteer time.

I'm looking forward to the trip to Texas in September. Hope no hurricanes decide to show up. I'm studying what routes I want to take and where to stop for the nights on the way.

Hot in the 90s predicted all week this week. Hope it's nice where you are.

Liz, is that a new camper in your signature photo or is that the one before your Road Trek?

Good morning, all! Just lazing around today. Got three huge loads of laundry done yesterday in Newport. Had to go there for two groups of students giving online presentations, so had three hours in between sessions, which was perfect for laundry. I leave t-shirts just a bit damp so they won't shrink, so I had a ton of hanging things around RV, and folding all the rest of the stuff when I got home to campsite. I've been staying up until 2 am because after 11 pm is best time for internet, so at 1:30 am, somehow I decided I needed to put clean sheets on my bed! And even with the tiny amount of "squeeze-around" space on either side, it was a chore, but got it all done. Will have to get back to a normal schedule when I get better daytime cell service.

It rained all night here on the coast, but today is sunny, which is nice for vacationers. One really nice thing about full-timing and traveling slowly is that you can wait for the weather to get better.

I got my new Tervis mug... Didn't realize I ordered the 24 oz instead of the 16 oz. It's beautiful but bigger than I want for normal use... Will be perfect for driving days. So I just ordered a different design in the 16 oz size for use around the rv. (The bigger is harder for me to handle on how I sit on my couch... It'll definitely get dropped/spilled if I'm not super careful... Won't have that problem in the cab driving.)

I keep making tentative plans for when I leave here... Times getting close. But it will all depend on the weather. And we know how fickle that is. I'm not even sure which direction I'll head lol.

Having the ability to head in any direction you want is a good way to live, isn't it Beth?

My handyman was here and gone already. He was able to install everything except the plumbing for the bathroom faucet but will do that maybe tomorrow. He needed some extra parts for it.

The bathroom looks amazing now! What a difference! Once I get it all cleaned up I will take pics and post them. The ceiling fan looks really nice too and that will be great to have over the bed at night. Just need to finish painting, probably my next project today.

Bryan also replaced a couple of ceiling panels in the porch. While he was out there, he came in to get me and told me to not say anything when we went back out there. We could hear the two homeless people talking down by the creek right behind my house. They got quiet as soon as we started talking. It is probably good that they heard a man's voice coming from my house. May have to call the police again if I hear them back there again. Someone on NextDoor.com was saying they had a homeless woman break into their home last week and ransacked it, taking cigarettes, liquor and clothes. I don't need that to happen (not that they would find any cigs or liquor in here!

I picked up a free water testing kit from Home Depot today. The tap water here smells bad and is not clear. My hands smell like oil after I wash them. I need to find out what is in the water! I never drink it or give it to the cats. I use bottled water or filtered water. I want to get a filtered shower head too since I can smell that on me and my bath towel after a shower.

Time to get back to my projects...have a good day! :D

Good Morning, Slowly getting back into the routine around here. With both the daughter and me back in town and school starting. (that's community college elderly classes for us) Free to us and the state pays for them!

The GGD (22 months) pulled a cup of hot coffee over onto her chest Sunday night at a family party. I was not there. Got 2nd degree burns. Was rushed to children's hospital. Said to be recovering well at this time. Those things happen so fast!

Our weather is beautiful right now. Altho I wouldn't mind if it rained. (not in the forecast )

My daughter with the artificial leg is doing so well. She wore it on and off all the time we were camping.
Amworking on getting the washing caught up from the camping trip so I can get the TT all packed for the next trip!
