Sunny Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday

Postby BarbaraRose » Sun Aug 19, 2018 10:25 am

Good morning gals!
Am still in bed but I went to bed early last night since I was so tired from a busy day, so I am wide-eyed and bushy tailed this morning (sort of).

Had a nice time at the SD Happy Campers Meet & Greet. Good dinner and conversation. There were 30 people there so was very loud (high ceilings and everything echoed) but everyone seemed very nice and friendly.

Today will be cleaning, painting and putting contact paper in the cupboards in the bathroom. My new roommate will be stopping over this afternoon to sign my lease.

Hope you all have a great day! :D

Once again a stifling humid day. The haze is from the Canadian fires. Can't do much outside without breaking into a sweat. We got the Shasta out of storage and I started cleaning it and have to finish the work on the curtains. When I first made them I guess my measure twice cut once wasn't accurate. some where too short. I love the material and didn't want to start over so instead of hanging them by the upper casing I sewed curtain rings to the top and they hang a little lower but down over the lower edge of window. the curtains over the sink are a little narrow, but I am making side panels of a plain matching material that will just be decorative panels on each side, that way the pretty material won't be stretched out and the window will be completely covered.

Beth I am interested in your no sew curtains. In the coachman in Yuma I need to hang new bedroom curtains. The trailer had dark heavy drapes that made that room too dreary. Plus, since we like to sit up in bed and read we were leaning against the drapes and kept pulling the panels down and bent the curtain rod. Took those down and then just keep the window weather resistance foil up against that wall. The bed has no head board and I am contemplating making a padded head board and then have drapes that are brighter and more cheerful. Quilted material would work nice.

Been out and about this morning. Just had to go get a haircut and some more paint at Home depot. Going to paint my outside storage door tomorrow morning before the smoke attacks and it heats up in the afternoon. Didnt get my rugs shampooed yesterday so will do that one day this week. I did get my power washer up and running so will spray off the patio and my car this afternoon wow nothing but ash everywhere. The smoke gives me a bit of a sinus headache so dont like to stay outside too long.

I got back from my campout a couple of hours ago. I wasn't home 20 minutes and it started storming. I couldn't find Frosty when I got ready to leave on Thursday so he spent 3 nights outside. I need to go unload the camper but now Frosty wants to sleep in my lap. The campground we went to was one of the resort type with the partying on the weekends. They weren't full so it wasn't too bad. I thought that would be a good place to learn to use my jacks and slide out since I would have friends to help. I really like the extra room with the slide and having real beds instead of sofas. I don't like the kitchen set up. My old 23' had twice as much counter and storage space. The mirror in the bathroom looks like a fun house mirror. That has to go. The people I bought the new one from had changed the over the air TV antenna and they must have messed up the wiring for the second TV and cable. I never could get the cable to work so ran the cable through the window to the back TV.

I have 4 big litter boxes for the house cats but 3 days is about the limit they can go without being cleaned. I have a week long trip in September so my son is going to have to come clean the litter boxes while I'm gone.

It looks like it might rain again so I better go unload the camper.

Did some house cleaning today so it looks nice and fresh in here now.

My new roommate, Denise, came by to sign the lease. She is really nice and I think we will get along great. She is a big gardener so I told her she can do what she wants with the creekside area and the back yard. She has several milkweed plants and monarch caterpillars that she raises. I am very excited about that since I have been planning to get some plants to do that myself.
She is into postive thinking and Law Of Attraction and I am too. It will be nice to have a happy positive person around here!

I ordered a Furminator for Lola which came today. She has been coughing up a lot of furballs lately so I really need to start brushing her every day. I had one of these before and they work great. I got the one for long-haired cats. Luckily, she loves being brushed!

I just turned on the AC in the master to cool it off before I go in and start painting. I got a new medicine cabinet and faucet since both are really grungy and old. Ordered a new modern light fixture for over the sink that didn't cost very much, from Amazon, so I hope it looks decent. I wish I could replace the countertop since that is dated and stained but just don't have the money for that right now. Maybe it won't look so noticeable once I have all the other stuff updated (or it will be really noticeable! ). Trying to find things that are inexpensive but still look decent.

I know dogmom13 (Diane) sometimes still comes on, even if she isn't posting. Her birthdays ending soon on my time zone, but in case she's lurking, want to wish her a Happy Birthday... And we'd love to hear from you.

Ty and I encountered a small snake tonight. I don't freak as much as I used to when I see one. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Barbie, for a temporary fix you might consider painting your countertop in the bathroom. The formica countertops in the kitchen of my mobile were a rather bright blue when I bought it. They make a countertop paint you can get at home depot or ace hardware. They only offer 13 colors but I had them mix a color for me. The will tell you they can't but insist, cause they can do it. It has now lasted three years in my kitchen. You can't scrub it with gritty cleanser but it works great. It, however, stinks bad when you're applying it.

Another thing you can do is tile the counter top over the formica. I am doing that now, will post some photos when it is done. The counter top in my 1/2 bath had a smashed corner, got tired of looking at it, so put in some tile.

If you do decide to tile, you will need to "rough up" the counter top with some sand paper or something so that the tile will stick.

I used that countertop paint in the kitchen. Worked great there! The problem with the bathroom counter is that the sink is one of those "shell" shaped molded sinks and I hear you can't paint the sink part because the water will eventually wear it off. I am going to try bleach on the stains to see if that will remove them.

Barbie, they do have a paint that you can use in a sink in the bathroom. Ask about it at your wonderful Home Depot.
