Sunny and Cool Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny and Cool Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Aug 14, 2018 7:26 am

Morning all. Beautiful sunny and cool morning here in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Supposed to be some showers moving through with a cold front later today, otherwise great weather forecast. Will probably head to the laundromat tomorrow if that happens. Spent yesterday in the Marquette area. Was hot, but we were inside truck, stores, restaurant etc. had a nice breeze too. Nothing on agenda today. Campground is full but camps coming and going. People on one side have left already, people on other supposed to as well.

Watching the news of all the flooding along the east coast. Hope those of you out there are high, dry and safe. The smoke from all the wildfires out west, Canada etc., have been giving us some spectacular sunsets here.

So, that’s the story from here at the moment. Looking at Labor Day reservations here, to stay couple nights after the weekend with friends at another park up here. Let the traffic clear out before I venture home. Have a nice day and stay safe.

Good afternoon Sue & everyone!

Sue, enjoy the rest of your trip! I always worry about losing my wallet, but since I no longer use a pocketbook, it is in the clutch of my hands, whenever we are out and about. I hope it will be in your mailbox when you get home.

It is mostly sunny in MD but it has been very damp. Our drain field is not happy and the toilets flush on occasion. Rain, rain, go away.

Since it's almost dinner time, barbecued chicken will be on the grill and we'll have lots of leftovers. Not sure about the sides yet, but we'll have something for everyone.

It's not cool here. I was trying to do some things outside and now my hair and shirt are wet. I had to come in and sit in front of a fan to cool off. I'm sure the heat index is over 100. Last night when I was walking Hank there was no breeze and it was stifling at 7:30. Hank decided to turn around on his own before we reached our usual turning point.

I finally got the TV put up in the motorhome but a lot of good it did. Now I can't find the remote for it. That will be the next big search. The last time it was used was at the camp so that's probably where it is.

I am trying to get ready to leave Thursday to go camping. We are going to a campground that is party central with a pool and hot tub. Not really my idea of camping but we will have fun. It's next door to my sister's favorite restaurant so don't think I need to load much food. I didn't feel like trying on bathing suits so loaded 4. Any that I don't like are going home with my sister for her bunch.

Anyone having problems staying logged in? I keep getting a message saying my connection is not secure and I could have privacy problems, etc. Except my connection IS secure--jetpack with password and such. This message has been happening just in the last couple of weeks, but what happens is that even though I click the button that says to keep me logged in, it makes me log in again, each time I access the site. Irritating.

Really smoky yesterday and today, and it smells out there also. I can barely see across the Columbia River and sun is orange. It was supposed to get better today, but so far, still just as smoky. Maybe tomorrow? At least it is quieter here than the crazy weekend. I'll be leaving relatively early Saturday morning, so will escape most of crowd.

I am inside today practicing to narrate a script for a PowerPoint. I have the script all written out, but I keep stumbling over words. Reminds me of the movie about the King's Speech--I keep adjusting the script so I can say things without my tongue tripping over itself. And of course, I HATE narrating PowerPoint presentations, but it was either me write and narrate it or have someone else do it, and since it is for my class primarily, I figure I had better do it. ANd it is a really long script--a couple of paragraphs per slide and 20 slides. Yuck. Put me in front of a real class, and I love it, but make me do this, and i am the world's biggest procrastinator.

Feels much better here today, cooler and much less humid with a nice breeze! I think I can get by with just using a fan in my bedroom now instead of the AC. Cools off pretty good at night.

My handyman is coming over Thursday and Friday to paint my Master so I need to finish taping off windows, etc. before then. He will just do all the white paint and I will do the teal and yellow paint after he is done. Then get my stuff moved in and get the place cleaned up and ready for my new roommate!

Here are a couple of pics of my outside porch with the new bistro table...

Judy, I found when I need to speak like that, if I slow down a bit and enunciate a little more, I don't trip over my words so much.

I'm trying. That's why I am reading each page several times until I can say the words without stumbling. If I do it enough, I will be able to sound like I am talking and not reading from a script.

Porch looks great! How are fleas doing? Any success yet?

Tomorrow we head over to French Camp CG near Tom’s Place on 395 in the eastern Sierras to meet up with Lyn (SoCalGalcas) and her family who are camping there for a couple weeks. Haven’t seen Lyn since January in Q. Should be fun. Abby and Bindi can’t wait to see their pal Benji.

Judy, no problems here.
Barbie, it looks very inviting on the porch.

I got a message from Laura with a link that is interesting. Some of you might enjoy it, too.

Me, too. And I laughed about being the new kid, also. Maybe this will bring in some fresh blood.

May I add that I am really glad we do not have to pay dues or have any formal meetings. At my age, I have had a lifetime of meetings and really don't want to go to any more. I guess we could send you an occasional donation for costs, but no chapters or meetings, please.

And the activity dropped on this forum when so many people chose to go to Facebook instead. I think this very informal, but welcoming forum, is the best!

I need to get more plants on the porch but that will happen later.

I retreated the cats this morning. The once a month treatment seems to only last 3 weeks before I start seeing fleas again. I still need to bomb the house but have been working so much, and need to make sure I follow all the directions before doing that. I did use a flea spray around the house (pet safe) the other day that seems to have helped quite a lot, altho I did get bit again last night once.

Had a very busy day at work today, the day before school starts tomorrow. Will be nice to get back to adult haircuts again!

I have to flea treat Annie every 3 weeks or she starts scratching so much her ears bleed. The vet thinks she is allergic to fleas. The other cats seem to be ok with once a month. On the news today they had to close an elementary school in Lafayette because of a flea infestation. How does a school get fleas bad enough to close? Barbie, I wonder if setting a flea bomb off under your house would help.

There was something on the NBC Today show about Sisters on the Fly this morning. I recently joined because some of my camping friends joined. I kind of doubt that I will do much with them. Some of their campouts are a little too much. I'm not into theme campouts and dressing up. I have belonged to RVing Women for a long time and use to camp with the Texas Chapter. I really like to camp with them and have friends that still do but I got tired of driving 500 miles. Most of their campouts are near San Antonio.
