Heritage Day Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Heritage Day Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 11, 2018 9:12 am

Good Morning. Heritage Day at Fayette State Park today. All kinds of activities to celebrate the heyday of the former Iron Smelting town that is the Historic State Park. Leaving in a bit to go over there. About 30 mile Drive. Was camping there earlier this week but had to leave as full for rest of week. Had a great country music concert and sign along here last night. Friends are here too with friends who plays guitar, so music around the campfire last night. Fishing tournament here today.
The folks in the U.P. Know how to have fun. U.P. State Fair is on next week too. Don’t know if we will go or not.

Time to get rolling here. Have a great day all.

Hi Sue & everyone!

Sue, enjoy the Heritage Day and be sure to post pictures. We still need to see pictures of your travel trailer renovations.

It is warm and humid in MD and on a good note, the rains have subsided, but they're moving in again starting tonight for a few days. On another good note, the weather people say the hardest of the rains will be on the western shore of MD, and I don't wish anyone bad luck, but we've had our share of flooding. Steve cut the grass yesterday and also trimmed the hedgerow on one side of our property and finished that today. Tomorrow is church and I practiced for that this morning. Steve is still my transportation director and I am absolutely enjoying being driven around. If I don't fall on my face anymore between now and leaving for FL, I will probably start driving again. The meds seem to be working! Yay!

I worry about our friends on the west coast with the fires and smoke and extremely high temperatures. I wish I could send them some of our rain, as we don't need anymore.

I will take all your rain Irmi. We sure need it. Another fire started up east of Portland. Those poor people and farmers in that area just cannot catch a break. Hopefully they can get it under control. It is right on the Columbia River and is headed UP the mountains so much harder to fight.

Our two closest fires The Garner fire and The Hendrix are pretty much under control but will still be burning for a while so the smoke will continue. The Taylor creek fire is around 40% contained. Please no more fires I want to breathe outside again. We will still be getting smoke from Redding fires for quite some time. It just settles right here in the valley as I am surrounded by mountains on all 4 directions.

So my Directv saga continues. Cancelled them the other day because they didnt come in the 8-12 time frame and I had places to go. So rescheduled for today 12-4 ha ha we shall see but at least I am home all day. They should have just mailed me the damn receiver!!!!!

Still at LePage Park along the John Day River where it empties into the Columbia. However, it is a summer weekend with tons of families and big boats that everyone seems to have brought. Thees are all speedboats, more than fishing boats, and roar when they go up and down this stretch of river. It is VERY windy today or they would be out on the Columbia, instead of this wide side river, I assume.

Anyway, they will mostly be gone tomorrow, and it will be a lot quieter. I am getting really spoiled--I want my scenery and I want it all to myself, no sharing. Got lots to keep me busy today, so back to work.

Oh, my son in Napa called me yesterday to tell me the fire near him was almost out. I did not even know there was a fire. About a mile from him and only maybe 10 acres, but that area does not need any new fires after all the close calls last year with the Atlas Fire!! And my other son texted me this morning that he was driving a horse-drawn carriage he rented on Mackinac Island, and he ran into an electic post with one wheel. Blamed the horse, of course. He admitted the horse did not want to pass, but he forced him to. (That is typical of my younger son.)

Mackinac rental carriage horses are very smart. I remember Barney from 35 years ago. All you had to do was say, "Pass, Barney, pass" and he would pull out, pass the other carriage, and then pull back into his lane. Mackinac, by the way, has a state highway on it that goes 8 miles around the island, but does not allow any cars or other motor vehicles--bikes and horse-drawn carriages only.

It's raining here again today. I wish we could send some to the West Coast.

I was bord so went off to Lafayette. I made it to a few stores but didn't take long to get enough of the traffic. I am trying to mount a second TV in the motorhome and needed a larger drill bit. Found the drill bit at Ace Hardware, don't know what I did with the bolt. I probably don't know how to hookup a second TV so that it would play anyway. I'm trying to figure out where I can carry fishing poles and not put them in the shower.

Stinking hot and humid again today! Hope the forecast is right about it finally cooling off starting tomorrow.

Was really busy again at work so I was glad to be done for the day. Stopped at Lowes to get paint for my bedroom. I finally decided on a color; blue/green/teal color. I bought new bedding for the master and had the paint made to match the main color on the comforter. The room will be white above the chair rail and teal below it. Already have the yellow paint for the bathroom which will also be white on top and yellow on the bottom. Most of my house has the chair rail on the walls so the rooms are all two-toned. The guest bath and bedroom are the only rooms that don't have that.

Need to go to Walmart yet tonight to pick up a prescription and a few other things.

I have a build up of yeast in my system which makes me very sleepy, so I ordered a natural product to get that under control. Sometimes I eat too many donuts, cookies, muffins, bread, etc and OD on the yeast. Then when I eat anything with yeast in it, I get real sleepy (like I took a sedative) for about 20 minutes right afterward. It is really strange. I have had this happen since I was in my 20's. Just have to go on a yeast-free diet for awhile and take some type of yeast fighters to get rid of the excess. I should be getting the new stuff from Amazon tomorrow and then get started on it right away.

Hope you all have/had a good day! :D
