Soggy Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Soggy Tuesday

Good morning! Looks like today is going to be a repeat of yesterday! More rain in the forecast and temps in the 70’s. Today is going to be an inside day obviously! Thinking this is a good soup day! Thinking Maryland crab soup. Found a recipe for it and looks like an easy one to put together! Easy is good!

Beth, saw that you aren’t going to be returning to the store next year. Agree that it should be more fun and know you’ll find something! Any place will be lucky to have you. Barbie, your dog walking sounds like a fun thing to do!

Well, not much else happening here. Today is finish up the cleaning I didn’t get to yesterday. I did manage to get my laundry done, folded and put away! The fact it’s put away a and not sitting in the basket is an accomplishment! Hope you have a great day and do something that makes you happy.

Orange Boy's operation was a success. The vet called the growth in his ear a polyp and said it came out in one piece. They are sending it off to be tested so hope it's not cancer. He was still pretty out of it when I picked him up at 6:30 last night and fought trying to get out of the kennel all the way home. I kept him shut up all night and this morning he seems fine. His name probably came from Harold trying to describe him to me one time. If he would try to tell me about a barn cat he would describe them. I'm the only one that ever remembered all their names. Orange Boy's sister is named Hollywood because she is the same color as some of the old Hollywood Gold horses. That's an old Quarter Horse bloodline. I'm glad I found this vet clinic. They are open 24 hours and have about 7 vets on call.

We had a storm come through when I was on my way home last night. It was raining hard, blowing and a lot of lightening. It looks like we got about a half inch of rain here but there was street flooding in town.

I have never had Maryland crab soup. My favorite is Louisiana Corn and Crab Bisque. If crab meat wasn't $25 a pound and my freezer wasn't full I would make some. The best soup I have ever had was She Crab Soup years ago in Augusta, Georgia. Makes me want to go to Georgia. lol

Barbie, hope the dog walking job works out. I would sure have some work for you. lol I have a trip planned to Texas in September. The friends I'm meeting are staying a week and then going to Galveston. I'm sure my sister would like to go to Galveston but I'm not sure what my neighbors would think about me being gone 2 weeks.

Gonna be a hot one here today. Near 100. I have the AC on in the bedroom for the cats today. I only work until 2 so then can come home and hang out with them in there.

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Congrats on the AC, Barbie. Wise decision, I think.

https://www.weather.gov/ - Weather.gov (U. S. Government website) prediction for the coming weather week for my area (north of Sacramento). These temps are predicted at a government weather station about 10 miles from me. At my house, temps are generally 2 - 3 degrees warmer than the stated weather station temps (below). Do the math.

Tuesday: 105 degrees
Wednesday: 105 degrees
Thursday: 107 degrees
Friday: 102 degrees
Saturday: 101 degrees
Sunday: 100 degrees

"Heat Advisory Statement" (from weather.gov):

* TEMPERATURE... to 105 to 110 in
the Northern and Central Sacramento valley.

Two Klamath Falls homes I found on Zillow that were definite "possibilities" (and really got the juices flowing), were sold before I was able to travel to see them (due to being ill from my mosquito bite infection).

Klamath Falls temps are generally 10 - 20 degrees less than temps in my area.

Still looking.

Staying inside today, Hoping my ageing AC unit doesn't crap out.

What Anne said is true for us too and we are about 15 miles east of Sacramento and 160 ft higher elevation, yet in winter several degrees lower and summer several degrees higher. Our weather station in yard showed 103 yesterday while Sacramento said 101. I'm concerned over taking Mel thursday to VA because the building we go to requires lots of outdoor walking from even handicapped parking and time is 2:15 as temps head to peak.
Got wheel chair ramp yesterday. It's big and very reflective of hot son on my car parking spot in drive! Going to ask if can paint with non reflective paint!
Mel needs left chest and abdomen drained again but with VA appointment probably can't get to UCD until next week as it takes a few days to arrange.
Staying in mostly but need to empty truck and get smog checked today if I can.

All the crab soup recipes are making me hungry! I have never made any, but a very long time ago, I used to go to Washington DC a couple of times a year for meetings. When I did, I always tried to get crab soup or lobster bisque or something similar, and it was fantastic! Someday I should try to make some kind of crab soup.

Yesterday, here at Fort Worden State Park, we had some excitement with 26 Northwest Indian canoes arriving as part of Paddle Pullyap. I would not have known if a friend who lives in Port Angeles had not told me. They do this every year, and Native groups have several routes around in this area and come from all around the area as well as from Canada across Puget Sound. I posted more detailed photos on my blog, but here is a video if you are interested. They arrive one at a time, and pull near the shore to ask permission to land, saying they are tired and hungry and want to visit friends and relatives there. Once they get permission, they turn the canoes around and back in, then the canoes get carried onto shore by volunteers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI9Ggtmq4QI&feature=youtu.be

This group came from the Jamestown reservation about 30 miles away. It was windy so Puget Sound was rough. These are big and very heavy canoes, but still must be difficult in rough waters. A small Coast Guard boat followed them and they all wore life jackets.

Anne, hopefully they are getting the fires over with before you buy in that area. And hope the heat breaks for the rest of you in hot places.

Afternoon
Another record breaker on the heat, so sad i'm here, but eventually summer will end.
Barbie your dog walking job sounds like Rover. I have a friend that uses it and he is very happy
with the service and how the app shows the info and he even gets video. He uses it for noontime poddy break for his dog since he works all day and thd dog hangs out in the fifthwheel.
I bought a portable bathtub for the motorhome, fits in the shower, feels like a swimming pool lo!.
Got it from amazon snd so far, it was money well spent. A soaking bath is the one thing i've really missed from the fifthwheel.
Abby is doing great, she really came out of her shell and turned into a nice little dog.
Thats all from me, gotta go out with the girls
