Chillin' on Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chillin' on Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jul 18, 2018 7:05 am

Good Morning all. Nice cool 45 degree morning here in northern Michigan. Feels good after a couple of days of high humidity and 80 degree temps over the weekend. Yesterday was beautiful. 75, sunshine and nice white fluffy clouds, good NW breeze. Hauled my long pants out for the first time in quite awhile. I get so tired of wearing shorts and T-shirts day in and day out. Felt good to wear something different for a change. Course will be back in them again later this week, but that's okay. Just need a change once in awhile. You gals getting too hot in the west, come out here, we will cool you off

Payday today, yay! Love that time of the month when the ol' SS check arrives. Off to the Farmers Market, the store, bank and couple of other places today. Want to move my trailer over on other side of garage so I can get it cleaned up and ready to roll out for the next camping sojourn later this week. Looking like a wet weekend coming up which means my first day out will possible be a bit damp. But next couple, perfect weather. Been studying my new Pie Iron recipe books to see what looks yummy (it all does) and decide what I want to make, so I can get the ingredients I need. Plan to try out the Dutch Oven I have here too, but not this trip. Next one. I like cooking outdoors when I am camping and it's time to experiment. Anybody hear anything about fissures cracking open in Grand Teton National Park, forcing closing of a couple of tourist attractions in the park. Saw it yesterday on FB. Now that is going to be interesting to see what develops.

Well, gotta do some bill paying here. So gonna sign off. Hope you all have a nice day.

Mornin' Sue & all that follow~~~
Yes, I saw the news about Yellowstone also. Maybe God & ESP were what kept me from getting to Yelliwstone this past May. The universe's way of telling me something was brewing. If the dormant volcano does blow, it will severely change the landscape of our country let alone the loss of man, animals & the beauty of it.

Still hanging around with the folks, individually of course, but besides my stress levels being up, it's getting quite expensive to be here. Got a call from the dealer. Once they got a chance to get to the wheel bearings, they found one on each side leaked & grease got to the brake pads. Playing it safe & having all 4 brakes being done because of the miles I've been putting on the TT. Then the one night of camping 10 minutes from the dealer got expensive too. Backing into the site, after waiting 3 hrs for the other people to vacate, I backed into a 2' 4x4 post with the Ford. Yea, saw them when I did a walk around first, but the Ford backup camera & sensors dont work with the trailer attached and they were to short to see in my mirrors. Ouch! I'll be glad when both are fixed and I can head out again in less than 4 weeks.

That's all from me. Have a good day ladies & stay safe wherever you are.

Good morning gals!

That is scary about those fissures. Wonder what will happen? Sheila, do you know any more about that?

Yesterday I drove down along the coast to Encinitas to the SRF meditation gardens which I love spending time at. Then went to the beach and sat watching the waves and lots of people enjoying beach activities in spite of the fact that it was a bit chilly out there.

I just finished up my meds for my UTI the day before yesterday and now my UTI is back full force. Just ordered more meds thru Kaisers on-line service so hopefully that will be available sometime today.

A little cool today again near the coast here. Low 70's which is perfect.

Later on I am picking up a bookshelf for $10 from a NextDoor.com neighbor. After that, I go (finally!) to get my CA drivers licence. I need to find my book and look it over to remember all the laws for the test. Then to work after that for a few hours. Whew! Busy day!

Barbara, did they culture a urine sample to make sure you are on the right antibiotic? Another thing to consider, I had UTI like symptoms for years of discomfort and frequency, ESP at night. But negative for infection, then caught a tidbit somewhere that wheat/grain sensitivity caused bladder symptoms in some people. Stopped gluten (and later all grain) and within just a few days of no wheat, my symptoms disappeared completely. I stay away from all grain on Keto, but when I had not started Keto, but got a bit of wheat accidentally, symptoms would be right back. Another thing I did back then was if I got heavy symptoms, I got cranberry juice and dikiuted it half and half with water, and sipped on it all day, which helped both with hydration and the cranberry is known to make the bladder lining more slippery so bacteria can't hang on. Hope you feel better.

Just checking in and caching up a little on what everyone doing lately.
Nothing to report here. Heat/humidity and bout with severe depression have kept me mostly in the house.
Have been following news about Yellowstone area geologic activity. Latest "what if" report I found: http://www.businessinsider.com/what-would-happen-if-yellowstone-supervolcano-erupted-2017-6

Sarah, I hope you start feeling better soon! Maybe it is the heat and humidity. I have been feeling down in the dumps too since it got hot here. It sure doesn't help anyways. Maybe you can get together with some friends for a fun day out? Hang in there!

I also think you need a culture to see what antibiotic the infection will respond to. Also with cranberry juice get straight cranberry, not a mix, it's called Just Cranberry, you will have to dilute with water as it is bitter. Another really good thing to take and stay on for awhile is D Mannose it is available in all health food stores or you can order from Dr. Mercola. Urologist even recommend it now and it is added to some dog food :) Adding a little apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to your drinks is also helpful to get you urine PH right. Good luck with the drivers license, does it still take all day or do they make appointments now?
Sarah hope you are feeling better.

I managed to go get gas for the mower so I got something done today. Got my light blue pants and shirt all dirty. I see some smaller gas cans in my future. My shoulder just can't take picking up the big ones. At least I didn't fill them all the way so I could get them in the truck.

I didn't hear anything about Yellowstone. I live with the chance of a hurricane every year but on my trip out West I was worried when I camped by an extinct volcano that hadn't erupted in a million years.

This heat is getting to me too. This morning I was in the old house looking for something and in just a few minutes sweat was running in my glasses. I had to change to go to town.

so I am totally out of the loop didn't see it on FB and not heard anything about it either. (right now I am in Vegas at my sister's) not home where perhaps I would have picked up the paper..
we live with the knowledge that some day that thing is going to blow when who knows but it is a when not an if and it is a won't help to prepare for it as it's magnitude will do so much damage that those within several hundred miles won't matter..at least that is what I've always heard... there are small earthquakes all the time up there that is like lifting the pressure on a pressure cooker slightly to relive the pressure...with out that it wouldn't be nice...but I will see what I can find out and report back

I looked up the fissure news, and Snopes says that this "fissure" was on the side of a rocky outcrop. They closed a hiking trail and a viewing area at the bottom of Hidden Falls because they were afraid of a rock fall. This is only a very small area and the rest of the parks, both Grand Teton and Yellowstone, are open as usual. The falls and rock area are on the other side of Jenny Lake and only affects people who hike way back there. That explains why the major networks are not carrying this "news." (News would be if a large chunk of rock fell off and killed someone, as it did in Yosemite a couple of times.) Check out the Grand Teton National Park website. Yellowstone does not even list it as an alert. There are a lot of small earthquakes in this area and rocks do fall, so it is not a harbinger of a volcanic eruption.

Got my steering stabilizer/shock fixed this morning in about 20 minutes. The mobile mechanic said one of the bolts holding it on was rubbing on something because it was not tightened properly and that probably caused it to fall off. He put on a new one that won't rub and new bolts. I am now at Fort Worden near Port Townsend in the northeast corner of the Olympic Peninsula for a week before I head down to get my slide fixed again.

I wish I could buy a new motorhome, but I just can't afford it. If I bought used, it would be a small A, and I would have to be 100% sure that it had never been smoked in or had a dog in it because both of these cause problems with my allergies and asthma, which is why I bought a new motorhome in the first place.

I am not a happy camper. Got everything ready for the DMV and got over there, only to find out they were closed due to a flood inside. I have been trying to get my new license for 8 months now. After buying my house, I made an appointment (that was in January) and was told I had the "wrong, unofficial" birth certificate. I had to then fill out a form and get it notarized and mail to MN to get my "official" birth certificate". I didn't get that until early April. I made an appointment to go back in...soonest available appointment was almost 2 months later. I forgot to ask for that morning off and it turned out I got scheduled to work that morning (I hardly ever have to work mornings) and couldn't find anyone to cover my shift, so had to reschedule. Soonest next opening was today, July 18th. Now the next opening is October 1st. However, I talked to the woman who was there today. I told her I really didn't want to wait another 2-3 months. I was sure I had read on line that if you are taking the written test, you need to have an appointment and can't just walk in (ie; wait in line for two hours). She said that isn't the case and I can just "walk in". So I guess I need to get up early and get there an hour before they open, get in line (yes, the line starts that early!) and hope I get in fairly soon afterward. Maybe I will try on Friday morning. She didn't know when this location (1/2 mile from my house) will be open again so will have to go to another one (along with all the other people who can't get in to this one right now).
OK, my rant is over...

Work was slow tonight but since I don't feel too good, that was OK.

Barbara, there has been a lot on the news in Sacramento about DMV and wait times. Lines reported 5 hours much of time. Legislators are discussing how they gave the DMV millions to solve the issue, then this new Real ID came up and demand is outstripping their ability daily.some offices will be open Saturdays soon.
