sorta on the same subject ...while in Bed Bath and Beyond (we were just leaving and I was trying to keep up with the rest) saw a fan that either operated off electricity or batteries which would be ideal for when boon docking could run it off the electricity when genny on or batteries when not so wondering if anyone has used something of that nature does it work very well on batteries for very long...couldn't see on the box how many or what size...as I said was on my way out
just wondering

Shiela~ I have 2 small fans. One runs on batteries the other connects with USB. Both are about 5" in size. They work well enough in the TT to get air movement if it's nice but no breeze or to run if the AC is on but hasn't actually come on. That said, since they're small, I pretty much have to have them pointing right at me from 5'-10' away. The battery one takes 2 D batteries which last only about 3-4 nights if I run the fan all night.

For battery power fans, check Home Depots Ryobi line. All the Ryobi tools use same battery so you only carry what you might use at one time such as one for the flashlight and one for the tool to be used, even if carrying 4-5 tools.. The batteries come from a 30 min to an hour use all the way up to the highest capacity lasting many hours for a fan. Fans are low draw. Around Christmas, the largest capacity batteries are often on sale in a kit. Last winter I got 2 high capacity and a charger for around $100 which normally is the cost of one high capacity. I am collecting their tools as I need them because the tools themselves, without battery are fairly light and I carry only the weight of one battery which I can charge using solar with inverter as needed, and move battery to what tool I need at moment. I have the light, fan, caulking power tool, and I think 2-3 others. I didn't buy drill because we have two battery power drills already.
