It’s Monday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’s Monday!

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jun 11, 2018 7:33 am

Morning! Another week has begun and who knows where it will lead. We have beautiful sunshine here this morning and comfortably cool. Our weather has been perfect for the past couple weeks. Comfortable day time temps in upper 60’s, low 70’s and nights in the upper 40’s, Low 50’s. Perfect for outside activities and working in the yard.

Took a day off yesterday and went up to Mackinaw City with the dogs. We walked the shoreline by the bridge and talked to people who wanted to pet them. Couple of Girl Scouts who were having a picnic with their troop, brought over a hot dog and shared it with the dogs. So I took them over for all the girls to pet. The only bad part of walking the shoreline area is the swarms of Midge flies. They are small black and insects, larger than mosquitos that swarm all over. Don’t bite but are annoying if you walk through a swarm. Fortunately they are short lived and will be gone shortly. Took a leisurely drive home, stopping at the State Park I am heading to next week and we walked the park, looked at my campsite and then headed home. Was really a nice day.

O’Sharon, I know what you mean about doing stuff outside and the stuff inside not getting done. My house needs vacuuming and dusting etc., but I want to be out. Keep wishing for a rainy day, which we d sperately need, so I will stay in and do that stuff. Judy, welcome home and congrats on the weigh loss. I know that clothes too big routine as have same issue here. I’ve Lost 30 pounds since New Years, so been doing some clothes shopping too. Don’t give up your walking now that you are home as you will find yourself getting more used to it. Great exercise :) it was so nice of your son to have “home” all ready for you too.

So back to reality today. Errands in town and then want to dig up and do a little weeding in the flowerbeds. Will be caught up on yard work then. Need to give my trailer a good cleaning and put stuff back in this week too.

Guess I had better get moving. Have a nice day all.

It's a beautiful morning here in WI. I was in the cities since Thursday as my daughter and grandkids used my camper. We got a ton of rain on Sat. but they still had a good time with their friends. Spent some time with my brother and sister, so that was nice. I am now home and today I need to clean the trailer and park it back in the driveway. Will try to get a walk in and stop in at the library. Nothing to exciting.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Today's agenda is to continue unpacking and putting away, ton of laundry, and catching up on grading papers. Luckily, none of those things requires a lot of effort, especially since I am right across from laundry, because I really need to rest today. I was so shaky last night from lack of sleep and lack of eating, and just all the travails of sitting in a plane for 11 hours and getting to and from airport. Whew. I got a good night's sleep but still need some catching up to do.

I picked up some basics yesterday at the grocery store, but need to finish restocking my refrigerator, although I may wait until I am out of California or at least Napa, as everything is more expensive here. I made ice overnight and iced tea this morning. I am SO starved for ice tea!!! Only stuff close I could get over there was Starbuck's mango black tea lemonade. The Brits and Scots assume that every adult drinks coffee and tea all day--almost no cold drinks at all. And the ones in convenience stores are only sort-of cold, not as cold as I like them.

I am here in Napa until Sunday morning, then heading up through Nevada on my way to Yellowstone to meet my other son and his family.

Well, I was supposed to go get blood drawn this morning. Fasting, of course. I remembered when I woke up, then went right ahead and had coffee and breakfast anyway. Then, with caffeine, my brain kicked in! Oh, well, guess I'll do that tomorrow, eh?

OH Gads, thank you Louise for reminding me...I am supposed to have fasting blood drawn too!!! I am getting so that I don't want to do anything....just sit and read! Or, sit and watch the people walk by as I sit at the computer.

beautiful sunny day here too. Rough surf at the beach and lots of rip tides. Several rescues over the week end.

nice picture of you and Bob, Liz. Happy for you.

I think, with my fourth pair of sandals, I have finally gotten ones that fit and do not nave a defect!

Glad you are home Judy.

Welcome home, Judy. Lyn, watching people and the water... Sounds good to me. :)

Finally did the web work I needed to yesterday. Without walking Peaches in the mornings, I'm getting to the store earlier and just came home for a few hour break before I'll check on things again later. My schedule is no longer a schedule.... Will figure it out. My boss came in today and asked if I had a new pup yet. I think he was surprised when I said, eventually, but not yet. He can't imagine me without. I will wait and the right rescue will come about. Hopefully when I have the time to devote.

It's cooler today, sun is shining, beautiful! It's been the earnest spring of my 5 years here... After a cool start!

Wish we had Sue's weather it is hot and humid here with heat index near 100! We need rain, it is too early for this hot weather, spring missed us this year. Judy sounds like you are glad to be home, get some rest and new shorts. :) Lyn you sound like me with shoes, hard to find something comfortable that fits. I end up in Birkenstocks 95 % of the time. I think I have finally got over whatever bug I had, it was a month Monday! Symptoms are over just can't seem to get energy level back. My poor little Toby had to have surgery on his leg last Thursday. The patella on his back leg has slipped out of place occasionally for a few years and I could always get it back in, but he hurt it again playing ball with Emma and it wouldn't go back in place. They also found he had torn something else in his knee but are hoping it will heal without surgery. While he was out they pulled the hair from both ears as it was so thick he keeps getting infections. They did give him good drugs so he seems to be pretty comfortable. Fortunately they said I could take the cast off the next day which really helped his comfort level. It was a 'soft' cast but I was surprised at how heavy it was.

I really AM glad to be home and in my own bed with my own recliner. I was in a lot of pain most of my trip sitting in hard chairs while trying to grade papers. My recliner takes a lot of the pressure off my back and is the only place I am really comfortable. I think a new pain clinic is in order. Plus, I had been having some tailbone problems, but the hard chairs made it worse, so that added to my pain level.

I made tea earlier and have had it chilling, so I just made myself a very large glass of iced tea with lemon. Aaaahhhhhh!

Welcome home Judy. Will probably be a while before you head across the pond again LOL

Oh BJ poor little Toby. He looks pretty pitiful. Sure hope he recovers quickly. Lyn sounds like you are enjoying the people watching and reading. Good for you.

Spent the last 6 hours at my Rheumatologist getting my infusion for my RA. Now I am good for 6 months. Just labs in 3 months.

Got my results from my lipid panel back. Cholesterol higher than it should be. So my doc recommended some diet changes and a little more exercise and will recheck in 6 months. I am all over that. I love this new doc she isnt quick to say MEDS. I prefer the natural meds if possible. So need to eat up all my bad food this week and restock with better choices LOL

Getting ready to go camping in 2 weeks, very excited. I am tired of dealing with the medical profession these past couple months.

Judy, welcome back to the land of ice. lol I can't imagine an 11 hour plane ride. I have to take an Aleve or something for one that only lasts a couple of hours. They pack people in planes like sardines. I never buy lemons so don't know how much they are. For a while they must have been very expensive because restaurants were slicing them very thin. The price must have gone down because now we are getting larger pieces of lemon in tea.

I took my motorhome to get serviced and checked out. I have a trip planed the 24th. The neighbor that feeds the cats saw me leave in the motorhome and told me he thought he had lost his job feeding the cats because I hadn't talked to him. Not to worry, no one wants his job. lol

Poor Toby, hope he heals fast.

Martha, one reason I flew British Air is that they have a class between "cattle-class" and business class. Because I bought way last September, the price for a non-stop between SFO and London would have been $1,100 for cattle-class or "pack-them-them-in-like-sardines" class. What they call World Traveler Plus or the class between "cattle" and business was only $400 extra per round-trip. For that fee, or a total of $1,500 round trip, I got a wider seat with a footrest and more space between me and the person next to me, plus about 6" more space between rows and slightly better food, including free wine. On an A-380 or 747, that meant only two-seats abreast on the outside of the plane instead of the usual three, and four instead of five seats abreast in the middle rows. An extra 4-inches makes a HUGE difference because you are not squashed against the window or fighting for armrest space with the person next to you. And NO middle seats on the outside seats. (Armrest was 4-5" wide--widest on A-380.) The A-380 also had a storage compartment against the window for window seats, which meant you could put your purse and even jacket in there, or a small laptop case. Lots easier than trying to get stuff out from under seat in front of you.

Problem with flight to London on A-380 was that I swear all the foam had packed down in the seat, so my tailbone was really painful. When I got to UK, I also needed a booster seat for the rental car, so I found a sewing store and bought a 2" foam seat cushion and some fabric to pin around it. Sat on it in car and on plane coming home, so much more comfortable. Bet I could have made a fortune on the plane selling foam for seats!

At my age, I decided I could not survive an 11-hour flight cramped in cattle-class! Anyway, if I ever do another cross-Atlantic flight, I think I will fly out of the East Coast, so it becomes only 7.5 hours long. I will also take 1/2 the luggage I had, and maybe even ship some stuff home that I acquire.

Whole bag of small lemons yesterday was only $2.98. I like them in tea and to make lemonade.

By the way, son's outdoor cat, known as "Y2K" like the rock band because he had an eyeball deep scratch at age 8 months that required a kitty ophthalmologist, and surgery for a serious wound on his side at 1.5 years old for a total cost of $2,000, is now wearing a cone because he recently had a serious wound on his tail that required surgery at a cost of another $500. He has been neutered, but still apparently gets into fights and loses badly. This is same cat who tried to get a drink out of the pool a couple of months ago and fell in, going for his first swim, so he is also clumsy. Son and his wife insist on letting him out, so I guess they deserve the bills!

Home, sweet home!

Got up early and headed to the airport. I agree Judy about the uncomfortable seats on airplanes. I bought an inflatable neck pillow and a blanket at the airport since I always feel cold on the plane. No issues on the way home or picking up my car.

Took a long nap tho after I got home! Still feel tired. I think I work late tomorrow so I can sleep in. Will feel good in my own bed since I slept on the couch at my friends house while I was there.

It was a good trip and I got to see quite a few friends and family while I was there.

Poor Toby! Glad he didn't have to wear the cast for very long. And BJ, I totally understand the lack of energy after getting over being sick. It takes me another good week or so before I have my energy level back.

Beth, it seems some people who lose a pet, go out immediately to get another one, and other people take some time before getting one, so everyone is different in how they handle that. You will know when you are ready to find a new co-pilot.

It was warm in the house when I got home. I opened more windows but there is no breeze so I have a fan on. The sun is going down so it will start cooling off pretty soon tho.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I wish I had some of your problems it was out and out cold today windy understand that they had snow up in Montana I think it would have almost here if we had had precipitation...so cold all I did was cover up with the electric throw...sure wish I knew who to call to see if the fireplace is irreparable...would have ran it today... so because I was cold and wrapped up in a blanket didn't do much other than games on phone and read a bit and napped...

Sheila, you've been having problems with your fireplace for awhile now, so I would just get an expert in to replace it, so you'll be comfortable for many more winters and chilly days.

Barbie, I agree with you that anyone that loses a pet will know when it's time to look for another one.

Judy, welcome home! And you, too, Barbie!

We are going home! I have one more doctor appointment Friday, I'll play for the FL church Sunday, and although we're paid up through the 25th of this month, we're going to leave on the 20th and start heading north. I am on more meds to control my pulse, which seemed to be the culprit for my passing out episodes, but my cardiologist recommends not driving for 3 months to make sure I don't pass out behind the wheel. We're looking forward to our first crab feast in our gazebo and meeting our new friends in wouth Ocala for another winter.
