Same Ol' Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Same Ol' Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:58 am

Good Morning. Getting a good laugh out of the "dull" day postings these last couple of day. We certainly lead exciting lives don't we  Been pretty much the same thing here these past few days. Shopping, errands, working in the yard, working in the trailer etc. My remodeling project is almost done. Finished the staining of the trim work yesterday and painted the storage box alongside the bed. Still have to put a coat or two of paint on the lid yet. One side is done, will do the other this morning and then cut some undercabinet trim to fit and will stain that before installing. Then I can get in there and give it good cleaning and prep for the upcoming camping trip in a little over a week. Getting antsy to get going and try out the new changes. Pictures on hold till I have my IPad back from getting glass repaired.

Otherwise that's all that's going on here right now. Have a great day all.

But everyday is a possibility. And everyday is different even if only in the little ways...... So I groomed the dogs, no big deal. That is my equivalent of cleaning house, which I then pay to have someone else do. But think how much money I save on dog grooming! The stuff that keeps getting me out of bed each day are the "little" things. So there was that night last week when Lark jumped up on my bed and looked out the window and intently started her low "woofing". Come to find out she was right to be alarmed. The entire back yard had been invaded by small blinking lights! I am trying to remember if she even saw any last summer in our adventures, but the back yard was quite full of them and it was magical. The summers first fireflies. Now she checks it out every night. Or the half moon that peaked through the opening in the trees when I when to let the dogs out very, very early this morning. Or the happy waggles Lark makes in the morning as she takes a toy to show "Wanda" the cat who is sleeping peacefully on the back of the couch. It is Larks morning ritual and it is Wanda's to just lift her head and wonder about the silly dog who is interrupting her morning sleep. She doesn't move and Lark bounces away happy for her friend.

PS: I don't really straighten out the inside of the RV as much as I should either. Just going to add more dog hair. I do need to reorganize some though. I had the love seat taken out and the recliner from IKEA arrived. Surprise, one, it was already assembled. Surprise, two, the back does not seem to lift out like most recliners. If I remember enough from my geometry class, I think the width of the door and the angles will let it go through. I just have to figure out how to lift it high enough to clear.

I actually woke up full of anticipation today. That's because yesterday was not dull!

I've been wanting a cabinet topped with a live-edge slab in the van for years, but it's always been too expensive for me. I found the cabinet at university salvage, and then saw a Craigslist ad for ash slabs. So of course I had to go and see!

I had a lovely time going out to get it. The guy lives down this little winding country road, so it was a pretty drive in good weather. He's got a few acres, and many dead ash trees (emerald ash borer). He cut up lots of firewood, but decided the trunks were too nice for that and cut them into boards with live edges. Air dried slowly in his barn. You just have to appreciate somebody who honors the beauty of the wood.

Also, he liked the van. We dragged several boards out there to see on top of the cabinet. And then he only charged me $20! I think he just really enjoyed the idea of the project.

So now I have a really fun project going on, sanding and refinishing and installing! :D

Interesting story, Louise. What is a “live edge”? Tina, I can picture Lark greeting the cat in the morning, cute.
I have ordered some Sandles from Zappos. Three pair so far, and, each has a defect! Sending things back is such a nuscience for me. Today I am going to a sticks and bricks store to find the shoes I want. In the past, I have gotten good shoes that fit. What is going on now? I really do not like shopping.
So Cheryl, you’ve decided to get a generator! Hate to see you get rid of that snazzy car tho.
Softball season is over. The games were very exciting. One girl from San Diego got a $60,000 scholarship to UCLA to play softball. That’s per year!!! Of course her life is now controlled 24/7 by UCLA.
Beautiful sunny weather here right now. Lyn

I have already been to town and back. One of the banks decided I had the paperwork needed to get into an old safety deposit box. Thank goodness the CD I have been looking for was in there. One more step done. Against my better judgment, I picked up a plate lunch at the grocery store deli. The meatloaf was tasteless. I am waiting on the mail to see if the copy of a lease comes. If I get that paperwork I will probably go bring it to the lawyer's office if the mail doesn't run too late.

CC said it was about time I got back and let him in the house. It's hot outside. He is watching a squirrel across the road through the window. He has delusions of catching a squirrel. I don't like him going across the road and the squirrels know better than to come in the yard.

I might go start mowing. I should have mowed a few day ago but didn't and then it rained a little. If I go to Lafayette it will probably be dark before I get home. The doctors I have talked to seemed impressed that I mow the yard and walk the dog. I don't consider a riding lawn mower and a slow stroll with Hank much exercise. I do have a tread mill I could use but I would have to evict the cat that sleeps on it and I wouldn't want to do that.

Lyn, I hate when I know exactly what I want and can't find it. I have started ordering more online instead of running all over town looking for something. But you are right, returning things is a pain. The UL softball team must not have had a very good season because I haven't seen much about them on the news. All the mess that went on with losing their old coach didn't help the team.

My excitement this past week, other than sightseeing, was actually, really and truly, finding a bra that fit me and does not hurt. But of course, they had only one in my size, so today I arrived in London and went to another store in the same chain and bought a second one!

My back has been killing me ever since I got here because it seems as if none of the desk chairs are the right height for me to work on, plus I really miss my recliner, which has always helped my back. So even though there have been some really good times during this trip, I am going to be really glad to get back home on Sunday. My birthday is coming up, and my California son does not know it yet, but I want him to help me do a really thorough cleaning of my motorhome next week, like vacuuming my furry ceiling and helping me wash floors and wipe down the walls. I want to get as much dust out of there as possible. His teaching school year is over, so he should be available for deliver that as my birthday gift.

I am also going to try to see another pain clinic. I did not like the one in Napa because they gave me a huge uncomfortable brace and stuff to stop the pain when I am sitting, but that is not when i am in pain. I think they were really just not listening to me. My pain is worse when I am standing still and walking long distances.

JudyJB, look into acupuncture maybe... I originally sought out help with my daily chronic rebound headaches. Over the years it has never really done much for that issue but in the process of trying I regained a significant improvement in the neuropathy in my feet and help with sinus issues. My recent return for treatment gave me great relief for the back pain and leg pain that has been flaring up unpredictably....especially while I am at dog shows trying to walk dogs around the fairground. I didn’t have enough courage to even think of hiking. I didn’t realize how depressed the thought of not being able to walk dogs and explore while traveling was beginning to effect me until I felt my joy on Tuesday when I went all day without any twinges of discomfort.... One way or another I hope you can find some relief.

I got up this morning to a beautiful sunny day! The house I am staying at is next door to my dad's old house and also on the lake. So pretty here. Lots of memories of growing up on this lake.

Got ahold of an old friend and decided to meet for dinner and drinks at a restaurant on the other end of the lake. Before then, I stopped at the shop I used to work at to say hi, and then stopped at my brother's house but no one was home. Drove around the lake to Excelsior where the restaurant is. Was a few hours early so spent time shopping in town in all the cute little shops there. Then walked along the lake at the city park before meeting my friend. We had a nice talk and dinner right next to the water on the deck.

Tonight, my friend I am staying with helped me go online to figure out how to turn on the headlights in my rental car. Finally found the right button!

Later tonight and tomorrow there are thunderstorms predicted. Will meet my daughter in the morning and then head back to the house and relax for the day and enjoy the rain and thunder!

Saturday and Sunday is Art On The Lake in the little town I was in today. Always fun to look around there at all the arts and crafts there. Most of it is very expensive but still fun to look.

Shedding a tear or two for Peaches tonight... :(
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
