Gloomy Monday Mornng

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Gloomy Monday Mornng

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jun 04, 2018 6:15 am

Good Morning everyone. Dreary and gloomy ere in northern Michigan for the past couple of days. Getting some nice rain showers on and off though, which is good for the grass. Although it means work for me and you know my penchant for work

Been enjoying reading all the posts the past couple of days. Although many of you say you don't have anything really going on in your lives, your posts are very enjoyable. I like reading the day to day stuff that goes on all over. We are busy people.

Mikki, love the idea the two of you came up with to solve the camping "rig" issue. I too have been toying with a van for a while. My parents had a cple of full size Chevy vans with the windows and all that, took out the back seat, had a dinette installed in the back that made into a queen bed and used that for camping when they wanted to go. Took a trip out west and back one year and had a ball. Pat, like the others said, you have a great way with words. I enjoy reading your posts about life on the ranch. Two days of either no water or no electric makes it a bit hard to accomplish anything for sure. Beth, thinking about you and Peaches. It's hard to watch our fur kids starting to go down. Velda, you and Mel are in my prayers. May was a very rough month for you. I'm glad you keep us informed as to how tings are going. I see the west is on fire again too. Looks like summer is here.

N0thing new here other than the gloomy weather I mentioned but it is on it's way out. Want to get back into my trailer and get my project wrapped up  although I am going to have to see if Forest River can get me some of the stuff they use on the cupboards so I can finish the trim work. It looks like a wood look wallpaper on the cabinet trim. Will stop by the dealer ere and see if they can get some. Almost impossible to match stain to that stuff. Had thought about maybe playing with my craft paints and seeing if I can concoction some up. Camping trip coming up in a couple of weeks, so want to get the trailer cleaned for summer and start getting stuff put back in that I took out for winter.

Okay, enough jabbering here. Heading to town on errands later, but first want to change my bed, unless it's occupied by a black and white pile of fur  Have a nice day all.

Sunny and gorgeous here today! We're at the library making our weekly run, then off to Lowes to buy some wood for a small project, then a quick stop at the wine shop to get a bottle to share at my nieces this weekend.

Beth, I sure hope Peaches is doing better.

Here are photos of a couple of carryout meals I have had from Pret a Manger. They advertise that all of their food is organic with no preservatives or chemicals. And they donate what is left over at the end of the day to charities. Sandwiches and salads are made fresh every morning at each restaurant, and no formed and pressed ham and chicken!!

This is a salad that contains chicken salad and a lot of greens and other things. I also had a fruit cup. Cost of salad was about $7, and fruit cup with kiwi, mango, blueberries, and pomegranate seeds, cost about $3, which is a little expensive but cheaper than a restaurant meal. Good salad dressing and lots of spring greens underneath.

This is the protein meal I was telling you about. It is mostly chicken breast and three halves of hardboiled eggs. There is a sprig of broccoli and a chunk of avocado with some dressing and a piece of lemon, with greens on the bottom. Cost also is about $7.

They also have filled croissants, various rolled sandwiches, soup, and cookies. I also picked up a tiny Victoria sponge cake there today for dessert. Yum. There are a few of these take-out places in the US, but mostly in New York, Chicago, and Washington DC. You only find them in shopping areas and bigger cities in the UK also--none in small towns. I wish there were something similar in more places in the US because being my lazy self, I would bring their stuff home all the time.

Good afternoon Sue, Mickie, Lyn & Judy!

Sue, I'm so glad you have your camper de-winteized and ready for another season exploring.

Mickie, enjoy the wine! We found a local winery/vineyard that I have become very attached to one of their wines. I need to restock for our trip home to hold me until we return to FL.

Lyn, enjoy the new baby in the family!

Judy, those meals look delicious! Wish we had something like that close to us.

I'm back from the appt. with the cardiologist and all the tests came back negative. He did up the prescription for the beta blocker because he said my pulse is still too high. I need to take my blood pressure and pulse every other day for two weeks and call them into his office to see if the numbers will go down more with a higher dose of medication. I also have an appointment to see him Oct. 31. He recommends that I don't drive for 6 months to make sure I don't have anymore fainting spells. Tomorrow we go to Lakeland for a dentist appointment. As long as the increase in medication keeps the fainting episodes away, I'm happy.

Judy, those look delicious. Much better than the salads in our grocery stores!

Peaches refrained from eating yesterday.... And was also the first day she threw up... Which she did 3 times. :( Today on our morning walk she went on the chain saw carvers office and ate a couple handfuls of the beagle's food. She'd not eat it if I brought it home but knows she's sneaking that girls food. Luckily I've been given permission to let Peaches... It gives her some sustenance. You can know how bad it is when I purchased a Jack Links small beef sausage... Just cut a few small pieces off and she refused them. She did eat Saturday. One day at a time now. She enjoyed our walk this morning and the one last night when it was cooler.

I have some computer work to do on a website... Must get it finished tonight. I think I'm going to drop the few websites I still work on soon. It might be time to be more retired LOL But I'll probably always continue some workamping/volunteering.

Irmi, glad he found nothing wrong, but not driving for six months would be awful! Hope the medicine fixes your pulse, but if it does and you don't have any more fainting spells, do you think he will reduce the six months of not driving.

Judy, yes, there is a window of 3 to 6 months of not driving, but our main concern is not hurting me or someone else. When I black out in the motorhome, I fall on the floor and wake up from falling. If I black out behind the wheel, it could be a telephone pole waking me, and that scares me. If my doctor and I feel comfortable with my numbers for the next few months, then we will decide what I can or should not do.

Thanks all. We all have "burdens" to bear and I feel petty talking about mine and Peaches... But if anyone knows how much she means to me, you all do. I've upped her heart and lung meds again today hoping lowering those might have caused her decline this week. Maybe we can have another reprieve like over the winter.

Irmi, hopefully the episodes are behind you. My only experience with similar episodes was years ago... It happened to my mother only once, but she was driving. Luckily the minor accident only hurt the car. But the doctor recommended she not drive and she never did again. She also never had another episode and they never found the cause. Prayers that you never have another episode and get released to drive in the near future.

Really happy to hear Irmi had a good check-up. Hopefully was just a couple of isolated incidents maybe related to low BP, sugar, who knows Just continue to improve.

Sorry to hear Peaches is having some bad days. Hopefully upping her meds will help the situation. Hard to watch for sure. Lyn seems to have a lot going on in her neck of the woods and Sue is still working hard.

I went to Physical therapy for my elbow again today. They damn near killed me after letting me think "this isnt so bad" the last couple of times. I go again Wednesday, but cancelled my Friday appointment as I got an appt for Emma to do to the doggy spa and we all know that is way more important because next week I have appts almost every day. AND they are not fun ones. All medical. I used to have a calendar that had "lunch, cards, dinner, camping, etc" on it, now all I have is flippin medical stuff.

Need to start organizing the stuff to go back in the Motorhome for our Bandon trip this month, Now that is exciting lol

Beth, I hope Peaches can get a little reprieve and you can spend more time together.

Yesterday I switched hours with a coworker and was to work 9 hours. Then another coworker decided to up and quit yesterday so I ended up staying until close, so almost 10 hours yesterday! I worked 6 hours today and it the 6th day in a row of working. I think I am now paying the price for it. I started noticing this afternoon, a sharp pain in my left wrist. It gradually got worse. Now I have a splint on it after putting ice on it. It is swollen at the outside joint. Hopefully I can get thru the 5 hours of work tomorrow afternoon. Then will have 6 days on vacation to hopefully let it heal up. Am thinking the same issue as I have been having with my shoulders, arthritis or something like that.

Feeling lazy tonight but need to get a few things done for my trip. Will have tomorrow morning and early afternoon to finish getting things packed too. I tried on my shorts last night and most of them don't fit. I gained about 10 pounds over the winter. :o Need to either lose some weight or buy bigger shorts. Found two pair that fit, so will take those with a couple matching tops for each one.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
