Very Early Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Very Early Friday

Postby JudyJB » Fri Jun 01, 2018 5:17 am

It's late morning here, but I slept in because i have had student presentations at midnight for the last three nights because of the difference in time and am worn out. Last one is tonight, YEA!!

Wish the U.S. had take-out food from convenience stores like this country does. Even grocery stores and places like Starbucks have large varieties of things like sandwiches and salads that are really very good. AND, it is all freshly made each day and dated. For example, last week, I picked up a "protein box" of two hard-boiled eggs, real chicken breast sliced up, greens, and two asparagus spears, sprinkled with two kinds of seeds, all for about $3.50. Last night, I bought a package of two hard-boiled eggs on salad greens, a package of fresh fruit (pineapple, grapes, apple slices), and a Coke all for less than $5. They must have had 12 different kinds of sandwiches and a lot of dessert choices, like yoghurt with fresh fruit, pudding, and cheesecakes. And the stuff is all really good. Working people can pick up a quick lunch or simple dinner for one or two easily on their way home. One day that I had been snacking all day, I grabbed a package of chunks of real sliced baked ham and snacked on that instead of more carbs and junk--and that was at a freeway rest area with restaurants. Every time I go to a restaurant for dinner, I end up with way too much food and spend around $20-$25. This gives me the smaller meals I like and saves me money. I like that they seldom use sliced and pressed meats.

So, I am off today to the Richard III visitor center. If you saw the TV program, you know his body had been missing for centuries, but he was thought to maybe have been buried in a specific church which had been torn down and made into a parking lot. So they dug up the lot and found him!! Confirmed by DNA.

Gmorning all :)

Yes, Judy, very early on this Friday of Rabbits Roll call:) I've been very awol, missing the past two roll calls & not keeping up at all with "lurking." Fortunately, the few of you that I keep up with outside of the forum have kept me informed of some of the "major" events going on...but I just don't know what to say now except congrats to those with happy events, & good wishes to those with not-so-happy issues....

Have been home from FL for two weeks, immersed myself in gardens--veggie & flower. Today however I will be leaving to camp for the weekend with the Solo Trekker group. Summer holds no other travel plans for me though. Will be content to enjoy my yard, not so much my home which is terribly neglected when I spend so much time in the gardens...But, anyone passing this way is more than welcome to stop by. Central NY is quite pretty in the summertime, & I do enjoy having visitors.

With that, I wish you all a great day, a great start of the month, a happy summer, & be safe always wherever yours travels take you 8-)

Good Morning from Maggie Valley, NC! I'm at the biggest Sling event and we have been plagued by rain. I did get a ride in yesterday and saw bears - mamas and cubs! At least have been to the fairgrounds to visit otherwise.

I'm going through a spell of what will go wrong next. :( Trying to take it one thing at a time.

I'll be hanging out in N.C. until mid-June and then back to Virginia until mid-July.

Hope the month of June treats you all well!

Son's leaving for Europe today. If I wasn't such a wonderful person, I'd be SO jealous! I can't imagine anything more fun than writing your dissertation in Berlin and Paris (a block from the Seine).

There's a Pow-wow in town over the weekend. I might just get out to see some of that. Should be fun. Bet they'll have fry bread!

Hey, Judy, are you going to post photos of the Richard III center? I always liked him so much more than Henry Tudor!

Afternoon here in much cooler northern Michigan. Feels good. Keeping the darn mosquitos down too and the rain knocked down pollen, so all is well here. Just been a busy morning once I got it going. Up too early and fell asleep in my chair for about an hour and a half after breakfast. the fur kids seem to think that 5 a.m. is a great time to wake mom up   Then they go back to bed after I am finally up and can't go back to sleep

Went to a friends church's rummage sale this morning and came home with some loot. They sell stuff really cheap and it's all gently used stuff, no junk. Got a set of sheets for my trailers bed for $1.00, a couple new pillowcases for .25, a box of plastic canning jars or at least it said canning on the box. Didn't know there were plastic canning jars with screw lids. Will make great things to store little stuff like nails, screws etc. in my garage and workshop and even things in my trailer. Probably more than I need, but got the whole box for $10, so what the heck. Also found a book on the Most Scenic Drives in the U.S., so am happy with my haul. Then RV place called and said my trailer was ready, so went over and picked it up. Now to finish the renovation project the next week and get it cleaned up and ready to hit the road to wherever. Took the dogs for a nice long walk now that it's cooler and the bugs are at bay. Was hoping my IPad would be ready for pick up today. Fell off my workbench and needs new glass, but doesn't look like it. Lost without the darn thing. What did we do before they were invented  Shows you how much technology has taken over our lives.

Tina, thanks for the "lurkers" post. I too do that on occasion, but I have also notice too how few post and how many read. We all have days when nothing worth mentioning, but it's nice to see that those in other parts of the country do so many things alike as I do and I"m sure many of you too. I"ve learned a lot about different things, customs etc., in other areas and it's has been interesting. Like our Packza on Fat Tuesday and Martha's Kind Cake. Didn't know they existed. I've also met some great people both here online and in person. You all feel like family. And like all families, we have had our share of trials and tribulations.

So, off to investigate a few more things on cell phones, before I make my choice of carriers. Know the phone I want, just debating on the carriers, kind of between Consumer Cellular, AT&T and Verizon. Even tossed Tracphone around as don't need a lot of talk, text and data time. And the winner is........ I'll let you know

I remembered "rabbits" right after midnight. Said it about 10 times for good measure!

Had a dream that I moved back to MN and was very disappointed in myself for doing so. Then I woke up and realized I was still in California and was very relieved! I have those dreams quite often! When I lived in MN, I had dreams I was living in California and then would wake up and be so disappointed! I guess that means I am where I my heart wants me to be! :D

Took a walk earlier and then drove up the hill to another mobile home park that is having a carport sale. Came home with one outfit, one summer top and a cute little birdhouse. All for $6.

Now I need to pay bills and a few other small things before heading off to work. Also need to start packing. Am not taking much but need to make sure what I want to pack is clean and will all fit in my new smaller carry-on luggage.

Carolb, when are you coming back out west? I need help with my gardens and landscaping!

Anita, I hope the rains quit soon so you can enjoy a few more rides there.

Ava, where are all those park models being taken to?

Sue, I had Tracfone for many years and now I am with Net10 and I have unlimited talk and text for $35 per month. No complaints.

Judy, I would love fresh packaged food like that to grab on the go. How much longer will you be over there? Need to get caught up on your blog.

Have a great day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Forgot rabbits but guess I have some luck left from last time I remembered, I feel a little better today!! Yesterday I was doubting it was going to happen. Whatever this is you don't want it! Hope you are better too Martha.
I bet the battery on my RV is dead. On this one if I don't drive it at least once every couple of weeks the battery runs down. My old one could sit all winter not plugged in and start right up.
Barbie I have dreams every now and then that I go back to my favorite place I lived and it always felt so good. But then I dreamed I went back and someone else lived there. I was so upset. Later learned it had been sold and moved and I haven't dreamed about it since. Anita I hope the rain gives you all a break!
Good to hear from so many. Hope you all enjoy the new month!

I remembered to say rabbits but it was slightly late. Hopefully I’ll be good.

Not much going on except hassling with the company that did my cabinets. They messed up by not ordering the materials for my 2nd bathroom and linen cupboards for 5 weeks thus delaying the job by a week and when they did order they somehow changed the color which caused another reorder. They agreed to give me a $1,000 credit. Their delays caused me to miss an important get together with friends from out of the area. I wasn’t happy. The job’s been done for 2 weeks and they kept giving me the impression they might just ignore the credit by only having voicemail recordings and then not returning my calls. Finally got a hold of a real person in Acctg. today and they say they mailed a check. Yay! at least I hope so. Really need that money after all the other expense. That’s all that’s going on here.

Safe travels to all.

Sandi, sorry to hear you have such a bad experience with your cabinets. I hope they really mailed your check. Remodeling is always a pain, so I hope the result is good.

Barbie, I will be back June 10. I made this a long trip because it will probably the last one I will make over here because of the money, and also I am getting old and not in the same physical shape I was in 10 years ago! Harder to walk long distances becasue of my back and doing things like hauling my heavy suitcase around, and my IBS has made doing my usual grazing instead of eating big meals a problem. And my tailbone has been sore, adding one more physical complaint. Had to buy a cushion to sit on to drive and am sitting on a pillow typing right now.

I will be happy to be home and into my own bed and cozy recliner, using my own bathroom, and having access to my own refrigerator!

Sandi, I hope your check is in the mail. Your cabinets turned out beautiful even with all the problems. The cabinets that came in our "modular home" are so cheap. The surface is just glued on paper.

Judy, I wish we could get take out food like you are finding. Some convenience stores here have sandwiches but they usually aren't very good. I buy the small ready made salads at Walmart. They aren't great but if I buy all the things to make salads I seldom make one and it gets thrown away. Enjoying your trip through your pictures. I would never take on a trip like that.

I am finally feeling good. The only lingering problem is that when I eat something it triggers a coughing fit. I'm sure that will pass eventually.

I went to town this morning to open an account for the estate. Of course, there was a paper missing I needed. Finally got it faxed to the bank and got the account opened. Took the papers need by the Dept. of Agriculture so I can sigh for the farm. Everyday it's something. Yesterday I spent all day looking for a lease the lawyer wanted. I called the company and of course they won't talk to me. I was suppose to get an email telling me what they needed and never got one.

I wasted all afternoon trying to figure out how to get help from Google for my son's google phone. As far as I'm concerned, Google has no customer service.

Tomorrow I'm going to the farmers market in Delcrambre. That's where a lot of the shrimp boats dock so I'm sure there will be a lot of seafood. If anyone is selling crabs I might get a few. I hate to boil seafood at home but don't like going out to eat it either. It's always so messy.

think I said Rabbits before I said anything we will hope for a better month... May was full of ups and downs...this weekend looks like a not going anywhere for much of anything...although probably will need to go to store see about supper...I agree those take outs sound great..last trip to Utah was hungry so stopped at a gas station yielded to a chick salad sand ugh not good at all think I will rethink that if ever tempted again...a very cold day sweat shirt plus jacket little buddy on and electric throw so took a nap...was semi warm when I woke up...need to go find that jacket again... it actually isn't a jacket think it was called at one time a big shirt made out of velour. just wear it lots...have attracted some birds that I am not finding in the book suspect one is a young red winged black bird as it's red it's that pronounced another bird can't find has a yellow beak think it would stand out in the book but it doesn't and had 3 Western Tanager's at the feeder at one time today they seem to prefer the suet not sure what else they like...here is hoping for a better month read that as no funerals to attend!!! my nephews head stone was placed on with Tues or Weds the pictures posted were so pretty need to drive over and see it.. we always decorate the graves on Sunday for memorial day it was so wet a rain not sprinkles or misting or drizzle a down and out rain...so didn't really spend time other than cutting off ends of cut flowers handing them to a kid and repeat...walking to the car realized that no cut flowers on the aunts and few on an uncles but we caught the none on the baby brothers oops....so think next year we will have to pair up the little kids with an adult to make sure all are given a good amount..you all have a great month...and looking forward to hearing from others that check in once a month
