Thursday, last day of May

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday, last day of May

Postby Othersharon » Thu May 31, 2018 8:38 am

Good morning to everyone. Another gloomy day in central PA! I should have mowed yesterday and now it looks like several days before I’ll be able to get out and do it! Time for the goats again!

Tina, a well said post yesterday. I much prefer this forum over FB too. I don’t have the longevity of some of you but I have had my life enriched by feeling like I know you here. Plus the bonus of having met some of you in person. And I admit to being a lurker too!!

Today is my youngest grandson’s last day at the charter school so I asked his dad to let me pick him up. We alway go to Dairy Queen so this will be the last time to do this. Next year he’ll be going to the public school and will be able to walk to his dad’s house or take the bus to his mom’s. He’s growing up! Way to fast! I’m sure I’ll be able to sneak away with him other times but no more after school times.

Time to get myself moving and get something done! Hope these of you not feeling well start feeling better soon. And if you are on the road hope you enjoy your day.

Good morning Everybody. I'm going camping in NY along the Hudson River tomorrow with my Roadtrek buddies. Meeting up with Carolb. It has been awhile since I've seen her. Looking forward to a good time. Enjoy today. Peggy

We had rain almost all of yesterday, which we needed as it was dry after the record breaking heat wave we had. Today back to normal temps, thank goodness! Can't believe it is the end of May! Nothing much going on here, still catching up with stuff around the house and paperwork after being gone. My daughter & grandkids will be using my trailer next week for a camping get together with friends. I will take it to the MN campground and then pick it up and check out the campground while there.
Have a nice day all and safe travels for those on the road.

It was wonderful going to the Mt. Rushmore night ceremony last night with my sister and bil. Cheryl meet us there early but left before dark. I never tire of the ceremony and it was better because my brother-in-law was former Army and went on stage when the service people are called up and was one of them who helped fold the flag. I got chills beyond my normal ones. We went early so had lots of time to visit. We all got ice cream but only Bob tried the Thomas Jefferson vanilla (Jefferson brought the vanilla ice cream recipe to the U.S. and they sell it).

I'm having trouble getting moving today. Sis and bil are off to Devil's Tower. I think I need to get to work lol.

I spent this month's splurge money on a new cooler, which should arrive today. It's certified bear-resistant, and the company posted a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1pDVyU4MbY
My friend Allis's son-in-law designed it, so I know the video is accurate. She said he came home with some really good bear stories during testing! I haven't run into a bear yet, but it looks like it might defeat those dratted raccoons as well.

My life is so thrilling! Hence my lurker status. All the same, Tina, I agree with your post yesterday!

Good Morning. Cloudy cool day here today. I will take it. Supposed to heat up this weekend into the 80's but for now it is nice out.

Was so very proud of myself this morning. I woke up, looked at the clock....4:25 and said "Rabbits" about 4 times. Then I get up and find out there are 31 days in MAY LOL LOL So we shall see if I can accomplish this task again tomorrow.

Had my first Physical Therapy appointment yesterday and it went pretty well. They didnt torture me....much. Dang elbow. I think it is starting to get better this week but it sure is slow going. The ortho said it is healing but not fast enough to suit me. Hoping PT will help some as I have 8 more visits scheduled before I leave for Bandon to meet up with fellow women RV'ers for a few days the end of June.

Beth I have never seen the lighting ceremony, I just might have to put that area on my calendar for next year. I am sure your BIL was moved also getting to help with the flag. How is Peaches doing?? havent had an update in a while.

Barbie have a great visit with your daughter Naomi.

Louise, I will have to tell my camping group about the cooler. We don't have bears but some of them have had a lot of problems with the raccoons.

I actually slept until 9:00 this morning and might have made it later if the phone hadn't rung. I get at least 6 calls everyday with a recorded message about insurance. Every call is from a different state.

Peggy, tell Carol hi. She must be busy with all her gardening. Wish I could camp with you all but that would really be a trip.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go to Lafayette or wait until tomorrow. I need to pre-register for my colonoscopy next week. Why couldn't I have remembered this yesterday when I was in Lafayette?

Good Morning! Yes Tina, good post yesterday. I too spend some days just lurking as I don't do much, and, believe I don't have interesting news.

It is so easy for me to be a couch potato and sit and read all day. If it weren't for Benji, I would never go out! Altho, we have been having trouble with him pooping on the carpet the past few days. First we put those paper pads down, then Valerie decided she didn't want to train him to poop on the paper so we have been taking him out more frequently. THAT gets me out of the house!

We are still having May Grey with cool wind. Our thermometer was 10 * difference today. 57* lo to 67* hi.

Irmi, I'm worried about you. Please keep us informed.

Yes, altho I have met many I feel close to, I still feel close to those I have not met. This is a very friendly forum. It is always good to read/hear from some of those who haven't posted recently .

The college softball world series began today, I will be watching all day. These women are such good athletes and great softball players.

Please tell Carole "HI" for me too!!!

lyn

Karen with the elbow...hope the PT continues to go OK and not too painful!

enough for today, tomorrow is the 1st!!!!!

Karen, thanks for asking about Peaches. I'm not saying much because it's just too hard watching her decline. She has some good days. She's not in pain. We walked later last night and she loved the cooler air and almost pranced and even went further than she had in a few weeks! But normally she's in bed by then and won't get up for a walk. Her finickiness regarding eating keeps getting worse so it's a battle to not let her continue losing weight. That'll probably end up being what will have to be the deciding factor... We just keep loving each other for whatever time we have.

Beth, yes enjoy the time you have with her. So sad to have to watch the decline in our furbabies. You will know when it is time as she will let you know. Keep on loving on her as I know you do. ((((HUGS))))) for you and Peaches.

I think of you and Peaches when I am at the dog shows and watch a couple of the breeds that she resembles, especially the Spitz and the American Eskimo. I think it is that curled over bushy tail that radiates enthusiasm and the pricked ears with the alert, smiling expression!

Sorry to hear Peaches isn’t responding positively Beth. Keep loving her like you always have and take lots of pictures. I know how hard it is, but the two of you have had a wonderful life together. You can’t really ask for more than that. Just keep making great memories for as long as possible. (((((BETH & PEACHES))))).

Worked the first half of the day, then stopped at the library to pick up a book on hold. Made the mistake of going into the used bookstore there and came out an hour later with 13 books! Now I need a book shelf!

The sun finally came out later today after apparently raining early this morning (roads were wet). Such a beautiful day now.

When I was in West Yellowstone I went to the Grizzly and Wolf Center there and they test out coolers with their bears. It was so fun to watch one of the bears trying very hard to destroy a cooler! It must have been a quality cooler since he wasn't making much progress. They have a bunch of coolers on display that have been "tested" by the bears and you can see which ones survived and which ones didn't!

Beth, give Peaches a hug for me! This is the hardest part of owning a pet. All you can do is love on them and make them as comfortable as possible and then let them go with a piece of your heart. ((hugs)).

Don't forget to say "Rabbits" after midnight!!!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beth, so sorry to hear of Peaches' declining health. It is so very very hard.

If words would make things better, I would say them. Hugs to you both.
