Last Friday of May

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Friday of May

Postby Colliemom » Fri May 25, 2018 2:37 am

Good Morning. And this time it’s really morning, bit past 3 a.m. Woke up, can’t get back to sleep. My brain is building the long box that’s going next to my mattress in the trailer as part of the renovation project  You know how we always get a bright idea in the middle of the night  We started on it Wednesday. That one shirt closet is cut down and now needs to have trim installed. All the pieces to redo the underbed storage area cover are cut to size, now we need to frame it and then reinstall it, make an additional frame to hold up one corner of the mattress, relocate a plug and we should be done. Have some staining to do on the wood parts as well. Yesterday was mostly spent getting pieces cut and getting additional lumber, plus mid 80 degree weather which wiped both of us out. Of all times the temps decide to go 10-15 degrees above normal   I’m trying to remember to take pictures as we go along, but sometimes get busy and forget.

So Judy, that’s where I have been. Doing some things in the house here before my friend arrives etc. By the way, interesting comment you made about the 45th-55th Parallels. Staying light a wee bit longer at the 55th. Reminds me of being in AK with the midnight sun.

Okay, back to sleep here. Hope you all have a wonderful day out there, keep safe if you are traveling anyplace.

We have had a wonderful week with our younger son here. Thursday evening the Hospice Veterans volunteer came and we honored Mel and his Navy Career. Sons and I decorated the driveway and put up tables, put out memorabilia and flags. We had 14 of our close friends, and served smoked tritip and salads.mit was wonderful. Mel sat in a padded chair in his Chiefs Khaki Navy Uniform. Only complaint, we dropped from 80 during the day to nearly 60 by the ceremony! sweaters in late May in Northern California is rather unusual!
Will get back to keeping up better once son is on plane home early Sunday. Have a good rest of week!

We need before and after photos, Sue, so we can see what you are doing. Another example of what you can do to customize an RV.

Nice day, so I am going off to walk around a Botanical Garden here in Glasgow. Also, going to try to buy some new shorts. One thing I have not mentioned is that I have been losing weight since late April and my old shorts are literally falling off of me. Hard to keep them up when I walk around. If I can't get any that I like, i will have to get my needle and thread dug out and do some temporary fixes. And these are shorts that were a little tight a couple of months ago. Long pants are also falling off, but it is shorts that I really need since weather has gotten into 70s here. Shirts are still OK. Wish me luck.

I slept in this morning since I was up with online chats with students until 1:00 am. It is not almost 11 am here, so I need to get moving. Difference in time is rough in terms of answering their questions.

Good morning all. It's cold and gray this AM. Hopefully the sun will be out as the day goes on here in N. Central CA

Velda - nice military gathering you and family had for Mel. I can just see beautiful US flags flying. Thank him for his service and thank you too for your service.

It doesn't look like it's going to be a good holiday weekend for the gulf coast. They aren't predicting a lot of rain for Louisiana but everywhere East of here might get a lot. I still feel bad with the cold or sinus or what ever I have. I can only get about 3 hours sleep at night until I have to get up and start blowing and trying to clear my throat.

I had to hang around all yesterday afternoon because some one was coming to get the truck to take it for service. He didn't show up until about 7:00. Today I have to hang around waiting for it to be returned. I can think of a lot of things I want to do when I can't. lol Kind of need to get some food for the house cats but that can wait until tomorrow. I had told my son that we could go to a campground with a swimming pool one weekend for him and his girlfriend to swim. Everything is probably booked up this weekend and I don't want to be camping with a storm predicted. Don't want to spread whatever I have around either.

Good Morning, I finally found where you are, Judy. I went to AAA and got a map of England. (Free for me). It is very difficult to read as all the names of the towns are crammed in and small. I do not recommend getting one of these maps! I have so enjoyed your posts.

Irmi, that web site you sent was perfect!!! I am going to practice that song for the GGD.

Sun attempting to break through....high of 67, low of 60. Not much difference.

Martha, hope you begin to feel better soon.

Pat, good to see your post. I can understand Bronc’s disappointment.

Cheryl, enjoy yourself at Custer St Paprk. Watch out for those Bison!

Velda, love that paRty you had for Mel. What a nice way to honor him!

Oh Martha I feel your pain! I've had it since Monday. Went to yoga and felt fine, a couple hours later my throat was hurting so bad I didn't want to swallow!! It went up and then back down to bottom of throat. I went for acupressure which really helped and she also told me to make a tea out of fresh ginger root, the peel from an organic orange and drink it twice a day just not at the same time as any other medication. It works great. You cut 3 quarter size pieces of ginger, I cut them fairly thin, three pieces of orange peel about 3" by 2', pour boiling water over it and drink when cool enough. I added a bit of wine to just a tiny bit that was left in the cup at noon and wow, that worked almost too well. I haven't felt like getting out at all and I am going a bit stir crazy!!

I just read about Liz !!! How wonderful!!

Almost noon here. Sun is finally out here.

I slept great all night again, almost 10 hours since I was able to sleep in this morning. Now I need to get motivated to work on the house.

Great news about Liz getting married! Wow! Sure never saw that coming!

Sue, I can't quite picture in my head what you are doing in your trailer, so you need to post pics!

Martha and BJ, I hope you both start feeling better! I know how miserable it is being sick. I have had way more than my share this winter/spring!

Velda, am so glad you had a nice ceremony for Mel and that your son could be there for it.

Just saw a large pile of dirt on the edge of my patio this morning. Ground squirrels must be digging along side of it. I saw a little one yesterday so they must have had babies recently and need a bigger home to accommodate them!

(Beth, can you resize my signature photo of Emily please???)

Barbie, Emily looks a lot like CC except she doesn't have mean eyes. I call him a squinty eyed devil. He can give me a look that could kill if he doesn't get his way.

The dealership finally got around to calling me at 3:30 wanting to keep the truck until next week. That's fine and dandy if I didn't have to worry about a storm in the Gulf. They have a vehicle sitting in my yard so they better be worried too.

BJ, I have never bought ginger except in a can so that would be a new adventure. I assume it's sold at a grocery store.

I would think most groceries have it in the produce section. Ask for ginger root. She said to drink two cups a day. It actually tastes good.

Lovely day here in so Cal.

Sitting on the patio just enjoying the thought of being off for a few days.

Going to dog-sit at my son's house Saturday & Sunday nights, but will also get to do some work on the big van there. My son's fix of the driver's door locking mechanism is clunking around inside the door & I might be able to find what's binding the fantastic-fan from opening up. Still trying to decide if I need to hold onto it or not. Sitting here on my patio is so nice. I don't really feel a hankering to go anywhere else - at least not in the near future but I also don't want to let it go since I probably won't find anything else like it if/when i do get that yearning to hit the road again.

Turns out they will take out the tree roots in my patio area but I need to clear the way for them to do it. The whole area has pavers. Taking a cue from Sue, I went & got a small collapsable hand truck, taking 1 paver at a time & moving them to the far end of the area beyond where the roots are. Not even sure I'll put them back down. I enjoy having contact with the ground. One thing at a time though...

Velda, sounds like that was a lovely gathering.
Barb, glad you're getting some good sleep - that can make all the difference.
Martha, hope you get feeling better & the storm doesn't come too close to you.
Sue, I hate it when I wake up in the wee hours - especially since I have to get up around 5 anyway. :( Hope you got some more zzzz's in.
JudyB, how long are you staying over there? Hope you can find some shorts before yours fall off.
Stay safe out there, everyone.

Catherine, what size and color are your pavers? If you decide you don't want them, I might be interested in taking them.

Barb, they are reddish & 16" square. They are very, very heavy. I'll let you know if I end up not using them.

I need 12 x 12 inch pavers. Too bad yours won't work for me. :(
