Crazy few months!

Our condo in Florida sold really quickly and we had eleven days from offer to closing, we got back to Illinois a couple of days before Christmas with a uhaul and no place to live... it's been a whirlwind!

Got semi-settled into the local 55+ apartments we were interested in; I say semi settled because we needed a place ASAP and they only had a bigger more expensive unit available. We will move AGAIN as soon as a less expensive unit opens up.

Since things have been so nuts we just stuck the proceeds from the condo sale into a CD, we'll decide on a camper or something once we catch our breath.

Missed you gals.

Glad to hear your condo sold quickly and you are at least temporarily settled! Glad you checked in.

Great news on the quick sale. I hope a smaller, more affordable unit, becomes available quickly.

We've got summer plans to go to the beach in Florida for the month of July, then down to Key West for a bit, up to Ft. Myers to visit an old friend, then decide if we're coming back to Illinois for a bit... or taking a left at I-10 to wander some more. Gotta say, really digging this whole retirement thing.

Congratulations for your plans moving forward so quickly. It is like a happy problem. Sounds like you are both getting the hang of retirement and being flexible. It does make the unexpected turns and twists in the journey less of an annoyance and more as just another step along the route. Be careful that the physical effects of multiple moving doesn't set your body health back. Traveling goes best when our bodies still sort of function. Thanks for checking in! Wish you both well.

You are very right about health, we couldn't get movers on such short notice so close to Christmas so we loaded and moved ourselves... for the last time. I'd say it took a full two months to recover from that. On the plus side, as University retirees we have the option to buy passes to use all of their wonderful fitness facilities, so Mary is running and working out and I'm swimming 2-3 miles a week now.
