WINDY Friday the 13th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WINDY Friday the 13th

Postby Bethers » Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:11 am

Looks like it's windy everywhere. Windy now but predicted gusts close to 70 mph this afternoon... And cold temps which will feel colder. I'm all hunkered down and going through propane LOL. Peaches has been walked once... Since the temp will keep dropping and winds rising, I'm not looking forward to the next walks. She, of course, didn't mind at all.

Stay safe everyone!

Thanks for starting coffee Beth. Noticed nobody had and was just going to, when there you were. Glad you are hunkered down.

Waiting for the storm and it’s winds to start here too. Going to be a messy weekend of rain, freezing rain, snow and wind. Heavy snow predicted for northern Michigan. Possibly a foot, but cause of the mix of precip, the actual accumulation may not be that much. Storm watch in effect till late Sunday. This storm may make this the snowiest April ever recorded for us. Well, since record keeping in 1950. Who knows what went on before then. I’m sure the fur kids will be driving me crazy before this is over  So, I will monkey with little craft projects etc. Want to use my wood burning tool as haven’t done that for awhile. Nothing fancy, just an attempt to do some letters. House is cleaned, bedding changed, so done with that for the week.

Stay safe everyone, especially those in the path of this storm.

Went to the chiropractor yesterday morning. x-rays show that my neck is too straight and leaning to the left bit. Nothing that can't be adjusted he says. "He" is a very good-looking young chiropractor! After he did some uncomfortable adjustments, I felt much better for the whole day. I had high hopes of getting a good nights sleep and finally feeling better, but once I got in bed, the pain came back. I ordered yet another neck supporting pillow last night. I will go back next week for another adjustment and a massage (part of the package I bought). On the way home from the chiropractor, I stopped in Encinitas for lunch and a walk on the beach. I needed an ocean fix since I haven't been there in over a month! Waves were really high yesterday! Hardly any surfers tho, so maybe there was a rip-tide alert.

Last week I had seen some small kitty foot prints in the dust on a table on my outside porch, so started leaving some left over kitten food out there at night which disappeared by morning. The other night I flipped on the light on the porch only to find two huge raccoons happily eating the food! When they got done they both came over to the door and looked at me like they were asking for more. Such cute faces! Then they turned around and walked off the porch side by side into the night. One of them had an injured front foot and was not using it at all. Love my wild animals here!

I have the day off today. Need to pay some bills, but otherwise plan to take it easy today. Maybe take a walk later. Yesterday it was rainy but looking very sunny today.

Stay safe and hunker down those of you up north! Hopefully this will be the last hurrah for winter now.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

The wind is really blowing here. I had to go to town to see about some farm paper and went to Walmart. Came home and mowed the yard. Wanted to get that done before it rains again. There's a 90% chance of rain and severe weather tomorrow. Today it's 85 and it's suppose to be in the low 40's Saturday and Sunday nights. Crazy weather.

Barbie, stop putting food out! You don't want the raccoons!

When I said windy, I wasn't kidding:

So far we don't have any snow, but some places in the state are already snowed in. It's been raining here all day, but the snow is supposed to start tonight and end tomorrow night with an accumulation up to 12". I90 is closed from Rapid to Mitchell. I29 is closed from Sioux Falls to the North Dakota border. Lots of schools have postponed their proms that were to be held tomorrow night. Luckily our local prom was last weekend. I feel sorry for the kids, it's such a big night for them. I was the prom advisor for most of the 23 years that I taught. They have hair appointments made, tuxes rented that have to be returned on Monday, reservations made for dinner, or caterers for the banquet have other commitments for the new date, etc. A lot of things that are not refundable. One school announced that they were holding their prom Sunday night, so that cuts out the organized post prom party because the kids have to be in school on Monday morning. Parents put so much planning and work into those parties.

I just hope we keep power.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.
