Thursday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Morning

Postby Bethers » Thu Apr 05, 2018 10:07 am

Leaving soon to drive through Albuquerque. No hurry as I didn't want to hit rush hour. And looking at weather patterns I don't think I'll be going more than a few hours then stopping for two days. Of course that can change LOL

Have a great day!

Good Morning, Beth, stay safe as u continue north.
I am going camping! Well, sort of. I will be in a KOA, but I will be in my little trailer. The SKP’s are having a rally in Las Vegas. It is very inexpensive as rallies go. And, it is not to far away from San Diego. It meets my criteria at the moment.

Our weather has been quite cool and o’cast The past couple of days. No much else going on. Lyn

Good morning, although its almost noon, I'm tryinv to limit my time on the internet as it
is too easy to spend all day reading stuff. I'm getting so many little things accomplished,
I've even amazed myself. My truck driver did make it into town and we have an appt for saturday
morning to move the fifthwheel. Crossing my fingers nothing goes wrong with the timing.
I've got an adventure coming up next week and its very much needed!!
Ya'll have a good day, be safe.

Good morning gals! Lyn, have fun on your camping trip! Beth, safe travels north.

I woke up with major pain again! Huge knot in my upper right shoulder. I am thinking that I rolled over on my side during the night (which the dr said not to do) and pulled a muscle sleeping that way. I will have to figure out how to strap myself down on my back!

Sun is shining today and warming up a bit. I was standing on my outside porch a few minutes ago and heard some noises above me on the roof of the porch, so thinking it was a squirrel or something, I pounded on the roof above me. All of a sudden this huge gray heron flew down from the roof and down to the creek! I was amazed!

Took some pics of my outside areas and put on a separate post.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I thought today was going to be a nice, quiet day. Not so lucky. I had to change spots and was waiting for another rig to move, and when I went to close my slides, the right one would not close. It stopped part way and froze in the mostly-out position. Left one would not work then either. So, I called CoachNet, and they are going to send a mobile RV technician. They said they would pay mileage, but I would have to pay labor, which is fair. Anyway, they said they had left messages with three local technicians but none had returned their calls. In the meantime, since move was only a couple of hundred feet and on pavement, got camp host to help me get out of old spot and into new one without incident in spite of both slides being out. I have this one for four days, so that is plenty of time to get slide fixed.

In meantime, I am working on income tax, MY ABSOLUTE LEAST FAVORITE TASK IN THE ENTIRE YEAR!! :x Got it almost done. (Paid someone to do it when I first moved to Ohio, but they messed it up, so am doing it myself.) Plus, have to finish up my renewal paperwork for my Ohio driver's license. Would you believe that they want a form completed by my ophthalmologist, who luckily is in Napa? Cost for filling out form is $50, but at this point I will pay anything. Then have to send stack of documents to Ohio license bureau. Yuck. Should have done all of this much earlier, so it is mostly my own fault I feel rushed.

It got down to 49 last night and I finally had to get up and put the heat on. Then I woke up at 3:00 am and couldn't go back to sleep. I had the alarm set because we had an appointment with our lawyer this morning. I moved the alarm from 7 to 8 and I think I finally went back to sleep between 6:30 and 8:00. Then I had to hurry to keep the appointment. Brought in all the paper work I could think of and have a list of other things he wants.

I am hoping my tax return is ready soon. They had left a message for me to call but they found what they were looking for before I got home. The return is being reviewed now so maybe it will be ready tomorrow. My car is due for an oil change and I'm waiting on the Honda service to return my call. I probably won't be able to get it in until next week. One of the cats has a vet appointment in the morning so probably won't be able to bring the car tomorrow. I stopped by TJ Maxx and couldn't find one thing I wanted. I don't think they are stocking this store like they use to.

Velda, I'm guessing she's lucky. If I wasn't 65 I could renew via mail, but South Dakota requires a vision test to renew after 65. I'd be glad if by time for my renewal next year I could send proof from an ophthalmologist/optometrist.

That is typical of Ohio--got more rules than you can imagine. When I moved from Michigan to Ohio, on the last day before my license expired, they sent me to a closed office to take a written test very late in the day. Since the next day my license had expired, they wanted me to take a course and a road test, but they couldn't schedule it for several days or weeks, so I ended up driving back to Michigan to get my expired Michigan license renewed, and then drove back to Ohio with my temporary new Michigan license so they would give me an Ohio license without the road test or driving course!! Can you believe that???

What really made me angry was that ophthalmologist found a small spot on my retina three years ago and has been pressuring me to get cataract surgery. She thinks I should get these new-tech lenses that cost an extra $5,000 for two eyes and that might mean no glasses, but no guarantees and take a lot of getting used to. This is a very small office, and if I decide to get cataract surgery, it will be at a major medical or eye center, not a tiny office in Napa. And last December she said that the spot she found on my retina has not changed in over three years. Nor has my vision gotten worse in the past three years.

However, on this form, she said I had cataracts and possible macular degeneration, and should get routine eye checks to continue driving!!!!!!!!!! It does have my vision corrected by glasses, but I am really worried what Ohio is going to do with that information. Grrrr. Will I have to fly back there this summer for another eye check?

First, she never called that spot macular degeneration before, and my cataracts are not severe. I will NOT go back to her, to say the least!! Oh, and she charged me $50 to fill out the form. :x

My DL in CA came up for renewal last fall. When it arrived, just before my 69h birthday, I was worried because I'd heard friends say they had to go take the test . Mine came with renew by mail, no issues. Whew.

Judy -

This doesn't sound quite right.

Cataracts are caused by the clouding of the lens (I had cataract surgery on both eyes several years ago). To correct cataracts, the natural lens is removed, and a plastic lens is inserted (permanently) in it's place. The retina, on the other hand, is located at the back of the eye and is composed of light and color sensing rods and cones.

I have never heard that cataracts and a retina problem could be related (could be wrong on this, of course).

I'm with you. I would never go to a small office to have something so delicate as eye surgery performed. Both of my cataract surgeries were done at "surgery centers", directly affiliated with a local hospital.

It is surgery, after all. . .

The cataracts and retina are not related--I probably was giving you the short version. But I did not like being pressured for the surgery, especially considering that I have no problems seeing, other than a bit at night, but I almost never drive at night.

ANd I think the spot on my retina is the same one that was checked out about 20 years ago, but I don't have the records from way back then.
