Trailer Tongue Lock

Postby Cudedog » Wed Mar 14, 2018 7:24 pm

Having fun thinking about (maybe) getting a travel trailer. FINALLY!!!

As part of this process, I was wondering what anyone might suggest for a tongue lock for my trailer. I will need to keep it at a storage place, so am thinking that a lock of some kind might be a good idea.

Suggestions, please! :-)

I always used a lock on my trailers. They are inexpensive and definitely worth having.

Do you have a brand of tongue lock that you favor?

Thanks. :D

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towpower-7005300-Brass-Coupler/dp/B001IH2T4E/ref=sr_1_12?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1521119058&sr=1-12&keywords=trailer+coupler+lock

You can find it cheaper at Walmart. I've used the other ones people posted but this is super simple. No way to get bolt cutters around it easily. I also padlock my chains under the a-frame so they can't tow it away with just the chains. That happened to someone in another rv forum.

Just remember nothing is perfect. Thieves are lazy and will normally take the easy target, so the goal is not to be the easy target.
