New Adventures Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

New Adventures Thursday

Postby BirdbyBird » Thu Mar 08, 2018 6:00 am

Good Morning. Made it to the airport and am sitting at the gate. I am off to the coast of Oregon for a family gtg. One side of the cousins I have kept up with the other group of cousins not so much. Can you guess they are the ones out on the West coast? Josef is staying with Cindy and the rest are hoping the man in the recliner remembers to feed them. Hope everyone makes a decent day of it.

PS: No puppies for Audrey and upon further examination it appears that I won’t retry the breeding.

Have a smooth and safe flight Tina. Sounds like fun time coming up. Sorry no pups. Guess it’s not meant to be.

Couple baseboard heating registers to paint this morning and then working on my scrapbok from last years adventures. I see a dog walk this afternoon and a little snow shovel episode of deck and walks. About an inch if that.

Hope y’all have a great day!

Good morning
Enjoy your trip Tina, and sorry no puppies.
One last area to paint and my project is done. Just the wall around the dinette. Then clear out the
shed out by putting my tubs in the fifthwheel and next week I can call the tow truck. Y'all are probably tired of hearing about my preps but sure helps to write it down. Kinda like my "to do" list except it's on the internet.
Won't be long now and I can focus on cleaning house. Y'all have a great day, be safe.

You're gonna have great weather this weekend on the coast! Supposed to be 65 degrees here in the valley. High 50's and low 60's on the coast. Best thing is there isn't supposed to be much wind over there. We have a big storm moving through today and tomorrow but after that, it will be nice. Don't get discouraged when you land and it is pouring rain and blowing 50mph. It will be short lived.

Enjoy your visit with family!

Have a great time wish I were headed that direction. Sorry about Audrey, will that change your summer plans?

It's turned cold and drizzly here right when all the spring flowers are coming out. I spend my day it seems keeping peace and training dogs! Surely this too shall pass....soon!!

I woke up to a winter wonderland...in my kitchen! I painted all day yesterday, two coats of white paint and it looks so bright in there today! I still need to do one more coat to completely cover the wallpaper (yellow green and orange plaid!) and then paint the counters. May do some trim in the same color as the counters but will see how it all looks. Lots of work painting all the little nooks and crannies tho! The only spot I haven't done yet is above and behind the fridge. My fridge is huge and I can't move it at all. May have to get my handyman over to help me move it so I can get that painted too.
From my den, I can see both the living room and the kitchen and they are so different! Living room is so warm and colorful and the kitchen is so white! Once I get the counters and trim painted and get my red appliances and window valance back in there, it will look warmer tho.

After finishing the kitchen last night, I still had more motivation (imagine that! ) so I painted the cabinets in the master bath too. They really needed a fresh coat so now they look much nicer. Need to replace many of the door handles in the bathroom and on the hutch in the dining room. They are all very outdated and ugly. Will have to shop around for something affordable. Lowes and Home Depot don't have much of a selection and are very expensive. Any suggestion??

Still waiting for my birth certificate from Minnesota. I mailed in the notorized form back in late January. The cc charge went thru on my bank account the middle of February but still nothing. I have been back and forth via e-mail with the state and they can't find anything. That state is so screwed up! I can't get my driver's license out here until I get that certificate.

Emily is still doing really good! She is such a great little kitten! She stayed away from the kitchen all day while I was painting. That other kitten I had a couple years ago (the kitten from hell) would have been in the paint, spilling it, and tracking it all over and jumping on the counters, etc! Emily just played with her toys in the living room or napped. She is so sweet and well-behaved. She does have her wild kitten moments but nothing destructive at all.

OK, back to work... have a good day!

I am comfortable for the first time in three days. I spent 6 hours on Tuesday at am RV service place north of Tucson where they changed the oil and replaced my serpentine belt. It took that long because 1) they did not start it when they said they would start it, and 2) part of the time was tearing the emergency brakes (apparently I have emergency brakes on both sides of the rear because of the weight of my vehicle) apart. They had to order new parts, but it was too late in the evening, so they sent me home to come back the next day.

The chairs in the waiting room were horrible. It was like they had no padding left in the middle of the seat, so I even went out and got a cushion I have. Didn't help much. So back again yesterday morning for them to install the emergency brake shoes and rebuilt the seals, whatever those are. Apparently, the one on one side had leaked and sprewed brake fluid all over everything, so it ended up being a lot more complicated job than they had thought. Still horrible seats and my back and tailbone were in agony.

Anyway, I am $900 poorer, but 200% safer!

I was thinking that perhaps antique places or possible rehab stores
on line is good as well

Thanks Sue for the suggestion, I will check that out. Sheila, not sure what a rehab store is, please enlighten me!

I finally finished painting the kitchen! Yay! Lots of work tho. Just need to get behind the fridge and also paint the counters which won't take too long. Then on to the master bedroom and bath! That will be easier tho since it is just walls with no nooks and crannies! Need to get a different paint roller tho. The one I got is way too heavy (metal) so I need to get a much lighter one (plastic).

Tomorrow I will put up my curtains on the sliding glass door to the porch. I will also be getting the futon I ordered tomorrow, for the porch. Need to go to Ikea to pick up some end tables I found on their site that will match nicely and are only $10 each. And Costco for a great deal on an area rug I saw there.

I got a microwave cart/cabinet for the kitchen but haven't put that together yet, but now that the kitchen is painted, I might just try tackling that tomorrow too. Then I can get my microwave off the counter.

Have a good night! :D

Most refrigerators have wheels on them so you can push them into place. They only work two ways - push and pull, not side to side. You should be able to pull it towards you with very little effort to move it away from the wall. If not, it might have settled into the flooring or something you might try pushing it away from you and then pulling on it to see if it will move. If not, I'd call the handyman too

If it is an older refrigerator, it may not have roller under it, but if it does not, you can always add them. They look like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Shepherd-18 ... YgodJlAG2g

Only problem is that you won't know if you have them until the handyman pulls the refrigerator out. And you would need help putting them underneath as you have to tilt the refrigerator to one side to get it in on one side and then the other way to get it in on the other side. I know because I had to get my son to help me about 20 years ago with my then new refrigerator.

There are also some sliders you can put under heavy furniture like dressers and sofas, but it depends on whether you have carpeting, linoleum, or wood floors. They are fairly easy to put under things and it sure makes a difference if you want to pull something out eventually. There are several on this page: https://www.lowes.com/pl/Furniture-slid ... 4294713224

Must be fun to be getting all this new stuff and fixing up your new "nest"!!

I think Shelia was referring to a store like a Habitat for Humanity Restore or places like perhaps Goodwill, Salvation Army stores where people donate stuff. Habitat stores if there are any around are good place to find things for homes.

when I suggested rehab I thought she is going to wonder....but at the time couldn't think of the
place to reference it too...thanks Sue Habitat is the place...if they can't use some that is donated for the
cause they will sell it so that they can use the money to purchase things not donated...I've heard a great
place to look for stuff may or may not have it but a good place to go... and to donate to as well
