Velda, I will be thinking of you two and hoping you get some good quality time together. Sending peace and light to you both!

I agree that Hospice is a wonderful service. Martha, I would at least check it out and talk with someone about what they offer.

Chilly here again today but the sun was out at least. Emily is a little more active and much more chatty today. She is funny tho, she meows while she is eating, drinking and using the litter box. Sounds funny! I read on line that some kittens do that.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Velda so sorry to hear this news..my prayers for both you and Mel..
I found out when Larry was in hospice...they all differ in what they provide
and what they say they provide...and each one is different ....so research and find
what is needed not only for Mel but you and your son... I remember hearing others say how great hospice was and thinking I don't see it...we finally changed hospice just a few days before Larry passed away...perhaps if we had had that group I would have joined in the praise of hospice..one thing to remember is when on hospice you don't pay for meds, care, ect so Martha look into it and see what groups come into the nursing center and look into them.. and get recommendations... and read the reviews...
I don't regret keeping Larry at home just wish that the hospice we used had been better for both of our needs...

Velda, sending my prayers & loving thoughts your way. May you & Mel be blessed with special time together in the days ahead.
Our family has had wonderful experiences with Hospice. As others have said their services may vary & as with anything else, it all boils down to the individual who is working with you & Mel. In my experience, they took extraordinary care of the family as well as the patient. They actually protected both my mom & dad from too much poking & prodding. They were a great comfort to have even for the short time we needed them.

And please, don't forget to take good care of yourself.
We'll be surrounding you both in prayer.

Velda - adding my thoughts and prayers for you and Mel. I do hope you have a lot of quality time left to spend together.

Martha - My experience with hospice was for in home care with my mother. We utilized the service for 4.5 months and I have nothing but positive things to report in terms of the care my mother received.

My older niece just started working for hospice a few months ago. Yes they do vary in terms of services and quality so research is important.
