So sad...no job, no home, and now not even a tent.

Kind of brings us back to Janice's post on Luxury Problems doesn't it? About all you have to do is look around and realize how good you probably have it. There are a lot of families in that situation these days.

So scary!!! ...especially now for me as my rig is being bobbled back and forth by high winds in a CG in Wyoming (and I saw evidence of tornado activity not far from here when I came down Big Horn after a hair raising day through Yellowstone the other day). Thunderstorms and storm activity are predicted but it is sunny and there is currently a cloudless sky here... I cannot predict this weather at all....

I am sort of stuck here until I can get a truck service place to look at my 'new brakes' (installed April 20-23 in Pasco Washington)!! They were burning up and stinking and became sufficiently spongey on the down the mountain course from Big Horn that it was really freaky so I am not leaving until they are looked at and there is only one place/one guy who does bigger rigs in this teeny town. Oh well, also got my dog in for grooming today and am going to find a place for a hair cut for me too tomorrow. Laundry and vacuuming are done but this wind is a little scary and I am not riding my scooter at all in it.

Surely there is no risk of tornados here...?? Or should I worry about hurricanes? Who knew a 4 ton vehicle could be rocked so much by the wind?

jan

PS I am really not happy about the service in WA so anyone going there should stay away from Russ Dean (just my opinion) RV Service...

Oh goodness those winds will pick up tractor trailers weighing close to 80k and toss them around. Had one wind south of Louisville in KY shove me right over into the passing lane. Had a load of break drums on and I was weighing 79,842lbs. Didn't take me long at all to get into a truck stop. So nope a 4 ton vehicle is nothing.

Gots to hang on tight and get it parked quick. Glad you made it safely to the campground.

Are you in Cody, Jan? If so there's a great BBQ place there and darned if I can remember the name....food is awesome.

Yup, I've seen more than 1 truck blown over here in SoCal when we get the Santa Ana winds..Couple of weeks ago when we went to Moab it was windy here, but I had the BF's trailer loaded with a jeep and tools and it seemed to hold Hope down pretty well...at least until we hit Primm, NV. Right before the state line the wind came up so bad I was down to 35MPH and there was a truck blown over in the center divider. Got off at Primm and hunkered down in a parking lot for about an hour. Wind finally slowed down some, so I told the BF strap in, we're getting out of here. Made it on into Mesquite, which is where we had planned to spend the nite. Hate wind and it seems like everytime I get in the rv or on the bike it starts blowing.

Hi Sharon. I was in Cody two days ago but am now in Sheridan... I ate at a great BBQ place called Wyoming Rib and Chop House for lunch today...

I must have walked 5 miles round trip to get there but that did me no harm LOL...

That is so very sad! Lotus, how did you fare through the storms? We lost phone and internet Friday noon and didn't get it back until late yesterday afternoon - still can't make outgoing calls. Still have no recollection of what the sun looks like! Ground is completely waterlogged. But I'm certainly not complaining, especially after watching that video.

Michelle,
We did fine. It just seemed as though it rained forever! Ron had to pump some water out of the pool today. Today we saw sun!

It is so sad that that family lost all they had.
This spring has been unusually bad almost everywhere. We've been hit with so many storms and rain (12 inches this past weekend + 2 tornados) and more to come tonight and tomorrow. Here's a photo of what is left of one of my friend's houses (18 trees down on her property)

Holy Cow....what a sad sight is that lonely rocking chair on her porch. This climate change thing is something to deal with, for sure. Weather nation wide, and earth wide, is definitely making some hard changes, and causing many of us to lose just about everything. I complain about the long winters up here, but, so far, anyway, the spring hasn't been half bad----no hail, tornadoes, horrible thunderstorms or terrible gales. I hope you all hunker down and keep an eye to the sky until things settle down a bit all over.

Happy travels!

I'm so sorry for your friend and all the other families that are being affected by the horrid weather. Thanks for sharing the photo. So sad.

A happy ending, or rather beginning, for the family in Lewis County who recently lost their only home (a tent)in the vicious storms. A Nashville couple saw the story, and is giving this family their 10 year old motor home that's been used very little. A detailing company donated the cleaning of it. Someone else is actually taking care of the delivery and giving them instructions on how to use it and everything that goes with it. How fortunate for this family!

That's very heartwarming to hear of generosity like that. People do pull together and help each other during difficult times.

This makes me feel so good ... I'm happy for them. A nasty way for it to come about but maybe their luck is changing? What nice people to do that for them!
