Hello everyone

Come on in and say hello.

Hello everyone

Postby jemek » Mon May 04, 2009 6:11 pm

Well....I am 45 and married to the love of my life for almost 22 years now, he is retired from the military and now 4 years into his second career. We have now actually lived in the same house for 10 years in the Pacific Northwest aka Washington State. WOW...before that it was a very mobile lifestyle and tent camping. We have 5 wonderful children (only 4 left at home) They are 3 boys ages 20, 18 and 12 and 2 girls ages 15 and 10. Our youngest girl is special needs with multiple disabilities. About 8 years ago we ditched the tent and upgraded to a tent trailer...did that for a few years...then in 2007 we upgraded and I mean upgraded to a 31 ft travel trailer with quad bunk room. We love to get out and camp, and find that with the RV we do a lot more camping.

I was born and raised on a small farm Idaho and went camping a lot with my grandparents and also my parents and siblings and extended family. Now one would think..that growing up in a camping family that many of us would continue that tradition. Nope..only my older brother and I really inherited that get outdoors camping gene. I ran off and joined the Coast Guard after college. Then met DH, so I served out my time and he continued to stay in and I stayed home to raise our kids. Which I really love doing and spending as much time with them as possible.

The RV is my toy...yes for some it may be hard to believe, I do most of the towing, DH hates to tow it. Heck he hated to tow the tent trailer. I if need be, I can even handle all the other things that go with it. Although I do try and let DH and the boys handle the tank empties...LOL. That way they will not feel to left out.

Ohhhh! A newbie!!

Welcome to you Kris! Glad you found us. We're a pretty good bunch, nobody bites. Well at least if they do???? They don't tell us about it! LOL

You will find that most of the Sistahs here do their own thing with an RV. There are some with DH's but most are single, divorced or widowed with extended families.

Hope you decide to stay around. Browse the forum and read past postings if ya haven't done so already.

Again welcome to the forum.....

Oh, before I forget... We are a really nosy bunch but all in good taste of course and we love pictures!!! I think photobucket is the only one that works with the forum.

Welcome, welcome. Sounds like you really have your hands full. Since we women can do anything, there's nothing wrong with you doing the towing - if your DH doesn't like it and you can do it - so be it. Please enjoy this forum and keep posting. Nothing is too trivial for us.

Welcome Kris...you go girl! My daughter recently got a 33' TT which she tows herself while her DH is overseas in Iraq. She'll have the routine perfected by the time he returns this summer. This past weekend she towed their boat first, then the TT to the lake cg and she and her two daughters & the dog had a blast with some other friends from church. We girls can do anything we set our mind to, yesiree.

Hope you enjoy the forum and share pics and some more of your many experiences when you get a chance.

Welcome to the forum, Kris. Sounds like you fit right in, independent and with good sense of humor, which you just might need here. I'm fulltiming with my DH (well sometimes I might want to use a different acronym  ) in a 36 ft Class A. Hope to hear from you often and with pics. We are a nosy bunch. carold

Welcome Kris, I didn't know we had somebody new until I saw one of your posts. Bethers and I are exploring New Mexico, have been for the past month. We have been boondocking so much that its been difficult to post and get pictures on. Glad you found us and I really admire your generosity in letting the boys do the dumping. It shows what a big hearted woman you really are. We are PROUD of you. Looking forward to hearing about your trips, or your daily life, or your thoughts.

Thanks for the welcome.
I have been reading through some of the posts and I really enjoyed it. It is great to know that there are RV Women out there.
Lord knows I have "surprised" a few men when the kids and I pull in to camp. Many times we will pull into a park on a Wed or Thu then DH will come up on Friday after work. My 15 year old DD does great at directing me back. I simply get out, show her where I want the right rear corner of the trailer and we usually get in a couple of tries. Actually now that I think about that....DH gets the off easy...LOL...he arrives to a camp already set up and get's to kick back and relax...that is why I save that special tank job for him. I guess I will keep him though...spent too much time getting him trained and broke in.

WELCOME, KRIS, to this wonderful forum of special women! It seems as if you will fit right in here!! I loved your story about why/how you got into RVing----it seems as if most of us began in tents and graduated to the RVs after putting in many years of 'ground' duty! I still haven't been able to sit down and take the time to post my story yet, but hope to one of these days when it's raining and I can't be outside!

Hope to see you often on here!

Welcome Kris!

So glad to see that you found us... I think you will enjoy us all. Believe me, there is always something going on here. I'm glad that you are adept at towing and backing and all that stuff, it seems that a lot of wives just let the man do it and run the risk of being high and dry if that man is injured or dies... Women need to be independent and you sure are! You GO girl! :D

Check out Photobucket and then use that to get some pictures posted. We love pictures! It helps us get to know each other. I look forward to hearing more about you and your family and your camping trips!

Welcome aboard!

Hi, Kris, from another Washingtonian!! What part of the state are you in, if you don't mind me asking. I'm in the SW just 20 some miles NE of Portland, OR. I'm an RVer wanna be. I camped/RVed most all my married life but am single now and was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, when the economy took a nosedive! I still have my dream and hopes, though.
AS the others said, Welcome and Thank You for your service to our country. My son is an Air Force Capt. so I know a bit about military living/life. Also we lived in Kenai, AK for 21 yrs. Both my son and dau. flew many times to "The Rock" to play high school basketball and volleyball games. Got weathered in there quite a few times, too! lol
Take care and we look forward to knowing you better!

Welcome, Kris!

You're gonna love it here...I'm newer, too, but was made to feel welcome from the get-go. It's a great group of independent, strong, caring, funny, helpful, animal-loving women here, that's for sure.

We'll look forward to your posts!
