Sunny and a beautiful 62 out there! Slept really late today, almost to 8am! I feel rested and ravenous, think I'll make a nice fried eggs and toast breakfast.

Hope everyone in Texas is safe, seems like it was bigger than they thought it would be.

Mickey, I can beat your 64 at 50 and sunny here in Grand Rapids. Sure doesn't seem right in August! Will be a down day today. Really concerned about friends down in the Texas coastal areas. I feel certain the campgrounds I was in this spring have suffered devastating damage. Harvey hit Rockport as a Cat 4, or so I heard. Heart breaking.

Okay Mickie and birdie.... I can beat you two... 43 this morning I could see my breath when I took Pheebe for her first walk... Florida girls are having a hard time adjusting to this fall like weather already.... I love fall but it's definitely going to be an adjustment for me LOL... the campground is filling up for the weekend that's for sure.... I guess we will be here people watching... I might get my sewing machine out today... painted a few rocks yesterday will do a few more probably today just lazing around doing nothing basically... all for me right now...B safe...donna

Am nervous this morning. Have to open the shop with the general manager and tell him that we were $80 short on the til last night! Am hoping my math was wrong and he can find the mistake. He has a bit of a temper and can be very intimidating so not looking forward to going in and dealing with his rath! Could make for a long day!

Good morning, not sure what the low was here but certainly feels more like late September weather. I love it! I just read Sandi's post and loved all her pictures. Sheila you were raised in a beautiful place. About 25 miles from where I live is a similar beautiful wooden barn. Some idiot just bought it and the surrounding land and he plans to tear it down and put up a pole barn! Hopefully someone will be able to enlighten him, or will contact a historical organization that can stop him.
Barbie I hope the error can be found and was just a mistake.

Birdie, I'm wondering how the campground we stayed at made out from the storm. And the restaurants where we ate. The restaurants were right on the beach. They reported last night that part of the Rockport High School had collapsed. I'm not as nervous in the day light as I was last night. We only got about a half inch of rain. It has only sprinkled a few times today and most of the rain is to the West of us. If I ever get moving I am going to drive down and see how high the tide is. It is only 85 so that is better.

Donna, I hate to give up wearing my short pants every year. You might see me in Capris and a jacket for a while. lol

Today is a day we can turn in hazardous waste and things the landfill usually won't take. My son turned in 17 old tires he had gathered up around the place.

Barbie, hope it was a math mistake and not short. Some of the jobs I had I was in charge of the petty cash. I didn't like it when I wasn't the only one that had access to it.

Martha, thanks for your update. I just got word that the rv park I worked and lived at in Port Aransas is a total loss. I believe all my friends are safe but heard a few people didn't leave my friends will have lost everything... But they have their lives. They haven't been able to clear further into town yet so there's so much not known still.

I'll be heading into town sometime today... Need to replenish my fridge and have a list for the store.

Martha, remember Ike? Storm surge was up to 18 miles inland. Part of that was the Intercoastal Waterway they must keep deep enough for it to be large ship moveable. The whole area around Port Aransas that was hooked in, is a lot like the area hit by Ike. They have houses standing in Portland, behind Aransas Pass that the bricks were pulled off and are laying on the ground right next to the house. Looks like someone took a big tool and pulled the bricks down. Weird! I think if a business or residence was coastal about anywhere between CC and Rockport it will be a miracle if it could open for business in a week. If anyone tried to ride it out, it will probably be a situation of body search, if the gators aren't there first.

The restaurants where we ate, except the Boiling Pot, are probably gone. The Pot would just open the windows and doors and leave. Would wipe out the foolish fan setup! Can't call it a fantastic fan! The reports were severely damaged. They haven't been hit in a very long time and people wanted to get closer to the bay. They may be in the bay now. Hope The Big Tree is okay.

Barbie, if you have people who cannot cut hair, they probably can't make change.

Beth hope your friends get a settlement quickly. That sucks as they probably had it set the way they wanted it. I got a call from my insurance company on Thursday advising that I consider leaving my area to a safer place.

Donna, keep that cold stuff over there. I am really surprised at the August temperatures. I shouldn't be. I remember being on a business trip to Minneapolis over Labor Day once at got snowed on! Granted only for maybe an hour but still!!

A lot warmer here in Napa. In fact, it is supposed to get up to 99 tomorrow. 97 today. I am going to try to finish my papers and then go over to my son's house tonight. I will spend all day over there because they have a pool. My son is having to drive me around because bike is broken. We just dropped it off this morning. Hope they can fix it. Napa is a great city to ride around in. I want to go to my favorite kitchen supply place, for one thing! Have an ophthalmologist appt on Wednesday, also, so have no idea how I will get there without my bike.

Got new front brakes installed on Thursday, but they did not have time to do the rears, so Monday will go back for those and hope it does not take the entire day! Luckily, there is a McDonalds about a half a block away, so I will go down there and have some breakfast while I wait. Will take laptop and do some work, also.

And tomorrow, I get to move to EXPO fairgrounds campground for the next 9 days. It is more expensive than where I am now, but much, much nicer with huge paved pads and grass between sites.

Did a long driving day down I-81, over the Blue Ridge and into NC. 9 hours on the road, but took many rest, stretch, and eat stops. At a Crackerbarrel tonight. Should be home in FL on Monday. Not going to try to go all the way tomorrow.

It turns out someone put 4 $20 bills underneath the til box. Whew! So glad it was found! Had a good day today with 18 haircuts and over $80 in tips! More of a normal day for me like I am used to. Hope tomorrow is just as good!

We are getting a heat wave here now thru the week with highs over 100 predicted. May have to check out the swimming pool here!

One death reported so far from the hurricane in TX. Hope most people got out and there won't be too many lives lost. Most deaths are from flooding rather than the winds. Such a sad thing.
