RV Insurance

Postby hokiephile » Sun Aug 13, 2017 12:55 pm

Can anyone give me an idea about what RV insurance for a full-timer costs? Just ball park figures. I don't mean the road assistance, though I'd like to know that too. I mean the insurance for the motor vehicle and your household. I know there's a million factors like age and size, but I just want a general idea. I'm trying to decide whether to wait or pull the trigger now.
Sorry to ask such newbie questions. :-)

When I got mine recently for the motor home, they wanted to know how often I used it. Apparently, they don't want to hear your living in it full time. That would be a different policy, so,,, told him I would use it every weekend cause I didn't buy it for it to sit in the driveway. Also, the fact I have a commercial license and another vehicle, all factors, and the state you live in,,,,anyway, my basic is $119 for the year.

I pay about $90 per month for full-timers coverage through National General. That includes $20,000 for personal property like clothing and electronics and all the other garbage I carry around. Don't forget that you have to cover a home and a vehicle both at the same time. Obviously, I have no other vehicles.

My mh, with full-timers including the extra personal property is about $600/year. It was less for my older, previous one. If you are going full time, don't lie to them... If they find out you won't be covered at all. And not all insurance companies will issue insurance for full timers. Ava still has her home.

Thanks for your replies. Can anyone name any insurance companies that specialize in, or at least will insure, full-timers?
I would probably just get seasonal/weekend coverage until I actually retire and hit the road so hopefully my usual insurance company will take insure me until then.

That will depend on what your state of residency will be at that time. I'm using Hartford through AARP in SD.
