Last Thursday of July

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Thursday of July

Postby Othersharon » Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:34 am

Don't know where July has gone! I've been thinking a had another week to go! Was reminded the other night when 3rd son said he would be staying with me when he comes up for his grands 3rd birthday on Sunday! Like I said I was thinking I had another week! Hope I can keep August straight!

So I have been on a cleaning frenzy around here! Need to change the sheets on the guest room bed and run a dust cloth over the furniture since I usually have that room closed off! I haven't done much other then hat has to be done since I've been dealing with this back and leg issue! Slowly getting better! Doc says it'll take awhile for the nerve to settle down. Oh, joy! Painful way to learn a lesson!

Barbie, I hope you manage to figure out what's going on with your jeep. Hoping to meet up with Donna at some point while she's in PA! We've been in contact so will try to work something out!

Looking like rain moving in again in the next few days and looks like it'll be heavy rain when it gets here. Watch the grass grow! You all have a good day and travel safe.

Good morning
A little adventure in the works today. We are taking a drive up to Mt St Helens. It will
be interesting to see the recovery after all these years. Certainly nice to have someone
else do the driving so I can look around.
Tomorrow I'll take the motor home up the road to a rest area to dump the tanks. All the rest areas in this state have free dump stations. Happens to be one about 12 miles up the road.
Spent the afternoon the last couple days researching family history as dad gave me the facts from his side of the family. Also a suitcase full of old , VERY old pictures that were my grandmothers. ( on dads side) and a file from my moms side.
Well I won't bore you with anymore, on that note, y'all have a great day and be safe. Hope I'm not the only one with nice weather. Carol, I image you've got the grand's delivered home now, I had a wonderful time with you and them in SD.

Blasted internet popping out and in today -- having to reset the router. Dratted Comcast is lousy in this neighborhood!

Note that all the trees around Mt St Helen are same type. Logging companies were afraid more of area would become national park. So they quickly planted only trees they had, which were Christmas tree seedlings!!! Zero biodiversity and very little logging value but companies got to keep their land and national park ended up being smaller.

There is a "museum" by Weyerhauser I think on the way to the volcano that paints the lumber companies as heroes for planting trees so fast!!! Big corporate propaganda.

Waiting at CW in Eugene to get toilet and water pump fixed. Both were installed at other CW dealers just few months ago and have warranty on both. They were insisting I leave it here all day!!! I told them this was incredibly dumb and I wound go to Portland or California so to forget it. Like where am I supposed to go with no car??? Said their chairs were too uncomfortable for 8 hours. Offered to come back next week but they still wanted ne to wAit all day because they did not know when they could work on it. Grrrrr! Finally talked to manager and they are working on it now. I spent half an hour flushing black tank this morning for them. And campground is only two miles away.

UPDATE: They could find nothing wrong with the toilet but did remove and reinstall it. Also, they put in a new water pump and charged me only for the labor. This on was only four months old!!

Just got back from Yellowstone Park. Spent the whole day (12 hours) driving the lower loop. Took a ton of pics. My car ran perfectly the whole time! Yay!

I saw several elk, a group of bison way off in the distance in the river, what I think was a female moose, and then on the final stretch heading back to West Yellowstone, the traffic came to a standstill and then started moving at about 5 mph for about an hour or more. Finally, I found out why... 4 bison were leading the way down the road and zig zagging back and forth so no one could pass! By the time I got up to them I got lots of pics of them and was finally able to go around them. I think they caused a 10 mile backup behind me tho! I guess they own the road!

Gotta get stuff put away and organized yet tonight so I can leave by 9:30 tomorrow morning for the campground just north of Idaho Falls. Sheila is gonna pick me up and take me into Jackson Hole.

I am in a much better frame of mind tonight!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Glad your car was working well for you! And I love those buffalo. Especially the big bulls. They can do ANYTHING they want to do. I experienced one slowly walking right down the center yellow line, so it was slow passing and he also caused a long backup.

I always keep my camera out of the case and in the center console so I can grab it and take photos if something happens.

reminded me of a time we were in Yellowstone..same situation a bison jam...one brute thought he owned the road...and he did zigged zagged around problem was the guy in front of us was on a motor bike...he kept "walking" the bike back till he was behind us when we got the moment and took off it was like he was attached to our truck poor guy but did get a chuckle about it...they are awesome but scary as well...
glad Barbie you got to spend some time in Yellowstone wish you had the time to check our our old campground but perhaps one day...see you tomorrow
