Working on Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Working on Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jun 28, 2017 7:04 am

Morning. Cool morning here, my favorite. Some fun work coming up for me today or for as long as mom nature lets me. Landscaping. Put some new bushes in front of my house before I left for PA, with some temp pieces of wood to hold dirt in place. Now it's time to put new ties down, the length of the bed, and new gravel along the back edge against the basement wall. So off to town this morning to get the necessary materials and also get materials to start building a new flagpole. Getting my creative juices flowing.

Barbie, I'm getting excited for you as it gets time to leave on your new adventure. Although I just got home, I'm ready to go again. Would like to go camping for a few days, but parks are full up. MI is a big state for camping and vacationing and parks book up fast. Speaking of trips, haven't seen anything of O'Sharon for awhile. She must still be recovering from our "adventures" last week  Linda, good to se you post. Yep, you gotta change that Avatar. Glad you are enjoying the "B".

Gotta get moving here. That rain/storm front that Barbie is having is moving in on us for this afternoon. So better make hay while the sun shines. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning,
As usual, I'm up with the critters.
Made a trip into town yesterday to have
lunch with a couple friends, fueled up while
in town. The little set screw on the gearshift
fell out somewhere and when I put it in park
the shifter came off in my hand!!! Took me forever
to get the pin back in to make it functional. Will
have to find a set screw , maybe Napa.
My phone bit the dust last evening, it is totally
non functional so I'll have to make a trip into
town for a Verizon store. I've not liked my notepad
all this time but now I'm feeling thankful that I have
it.
Gotta get this posted. Y'all have a great day and be safe.

Good morning Sue & Ava and all.... working today here also but that's the way it's been forever at least it seems forever... but soon I will be a lady of leisure at least I'm hoping... junk / flea market man coming today at 9... there was a glitch in the wording of the trust I'm trying to get that taken care of so hoping maybe for a closing on July 6th.... it seems like I still have a lot to do... I'm going to try and squeeze some more into the storage unit just a little things that was in the Roadtrek that I'm not going to take... what is very bothersome and I still can't do my walking exercise... I guess that's it for me for right now...B safe..donna

Good morning gals!

Rainy this morning but supposed to end shortly with spotty showers later this afternoon. I was up late last night sorting thru my bedroom and bathroom stuff. Still have some left to do but getting there.
Will try to finish that all up before 3pm and then I go pick up the U-Haul trailer, load up the stuff in my storage locker (not a lot in there) and then come back to the house and load up the stuff here for the pod, which I will transfer it all to tomorrow morning. Then just last minute stuff before leaving on Friday!

Sue, I also love landscaping projects! Altho I am not very good at keeping plants alive  .

Ava, where are you at right now?

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning all! Sue, I've been reading but nothing happening here so haven't posted! Barbie, your adventure is fast approaching! Donna, looking forward to hearing about your next phase! Things are moving right along for you.

It was really chilly this morning, 47 at 6:30 this morning and supposed to go up to the mid 70's today. Sun is supposed to shine so I'm going to spend most of the day outside getting some more work done in the yard. Nothing as ambiguous as Sue! Just normal mowing and weeding! At some point I want to give Lola a bath. It keeps getting put at the bottom of the chore list!

Hope you all have a good day and travel safe.

Liz drove off this morning on her way to her sisters. She decided to on over to her sisters in MA a little earlier than she first expected in order to assist before her sister's surgery and of course be there afterwords to help. That is the Liz we know and love...... She did drive off wth two Hornbeck kayaks fit neatly on the top of her little gray Honda. BEki also headed out this morning to continue her explorations. I will head out on Friday and still plan to spend the holiday weekend at Taylor Pond. Hopefully I will be able to touch base with Soos and be able to meet up with her if her family schedule isn't already packed.

BIrdie is still here for awhile anyway but no big plans on th schedule other than me heading back to Hornbeck to pick up a slightly different model that seems to fit me better. My son is going to drive up in the next couple of weeks to pick up my kayak which I will leave behind for him and his family, :)

And to explain.....on this trip I remember just about everything but my lap top. I did figure out and had brought the appropriate cords to download pictures from both cameras to the iPad but when I pulled up my blog I discovered that Blogspot will not allow me to load picture from iPhoto from iPads. When I googled the issue I found that I was not the only disappointed on. Therefore I have been quite happy to let Liz do all the heavy lifting with the picture posting on FB, etc. Mostly I haven't even bothered to download and crop pictures from my cameras. Without Liz I will try to be better.

Those are large Photo shoes to fill though......have fun and hope all are able to find a few wonderous adventures out there where ever there may be!

Oh geeze, Tina! Technology is so frustrating!! Do you have any work-around? Like, uploading to your Cloud account and transferring the photo to Blogspot from there? Pain in the you-know-where!

I'm thinking I'll probably spend a couple of days in Oscoda over the 4th. Too much chaos for me or the dog to stay the whole week, but I do enjoy seeing everybody together. :D

Off to the hardware today. I need some wall hooks.

Got up slowly this morning, watching TV in bed for a while. Now enjoying my morning bagel from the dozen I got at Einsteins a few days ago. Never even went outside yesterday! Spent the whole day updating some stuff in my new class and, most importantly, sketched out my travels for the entire first 6 months of 2018. I already mostly had plans made for this coming fall, so I worked on those as well. I know some of you think I am nuts planning so far in advance, but I have some complications next year:

- Mostly I am spending the next 18 months in the west. But I want to be around my California grandkids when they have school breaks.
- I need to fly into Ohio right after Christmas to visit those grandkids. Las Vegas is a good, cheap airport to fly out of and has good oversized vehicle parking, so I have to drive from Napa to LV at Christmas. Then when I come back, I will spend 2 months in Nevada and Arizona.
- Also, I am going to take a five-week trip to the UK and Malta in late April and all of May. My plans are to store my motorhome near my son's house south of Cleveland and fly out of Cleveland. He has an extra refrigerator in the basement I can put stuff in while I am gone.
- I will also spend 4-5 days before and after my UK trip visiting him and his family. Will head back west in early June.

Why not fly to the UK from California? Main reason is I need to visit Ohio kids anyway and from California it is a 12-hour instead of an 8-hour flight. I don't have any reservations after Christmas, but at least I have a doable plan without having to drive too many miles each day.

Whew! Going for a bike ride today.

Judy, I am excited for your trip across the pond. I know you have explored Scotland and other places. For all that online teaching and work it will be a well deserved break from the usual semester/quarter ? routines. :)

Taking a break here...went up this afternoon to pick up the U-Haul trailer to transfer my storage stuff to the pod that is going to California. While I was there, I realized that my electrical wiring won't work with the U-Haul trailer because mine is a 7 pin and theirs is a 4 pin. So I got a small truck instead which is actually working out better altho costs a little more, but still saving me from having to pay $600+ to have the pod delivered and picked up from where I live.
While I was loading the truck at the storage unit, there were thunderstorms with heavy rain just north and south of me, heading east. Luckily, they both missed me! Now I have the truck at home and have to load up the rest of the stuff here that I am not taking in the camper with me. Then, tomorrow, will drive out to the warehouse and transfer it to the pod. Lots of work but saving a lot of money in the process.

It is hot and humid today. The past several days have been so cool, dry and breezy and that would have been nice for today, but sticky and sweaty instead. :(

I better get back to work here...have a good evening! :D

No rest for me, Tina. I will be taking my laptop and teaching just like always from wherever I am. One good thing is that the UK is far ahead of us in terms of having free internet in all towns and cities. I might even take one of my jetpacks and try to get a SIM card and some data on it. Otherwise, will use hotel and free internet. Will certainly switch out the SIM card in my I-phone to a local UK card so I will have a local phone while I am there. Amazingly cheap to do. In 2008 I even bought a cheap UK phone for $10 and spent $20 for a card with a ton of local and international calls. International calls were only 11 cents per minute! That was when i-Phones were locked.

I have taught my class from the Queen Elizabeth 2 ship in the middle of the Atlantic, the Rotterdam in the middle of the Mediterranean, and various hotels in England and Scotland. My students or the college never knew the difference. Much better than the old days when I taught in a classroom and never could go anywhere!

This might be my last trip to the UK, so I decided to do it while I could still handle at least some walking.

I am now in Montana, near little big horn battlefield, which I will explore tomorrow. Had a good time at Yellowstone, saw most of the sites that were on my list. I did leave a couple days early as the traffic and volume of people got to me. Weather has been nice most of the time, Yellowstone was a little cool at night. Saw a ton of animals and took a ton of photos. this is the first time I have had Wi-Fi in a week and cell service has been equally spotty.
Sue I am glad you had such a good trip . I am way behind on reading all the posts! I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and enjoy your travels wherever they are taking you.
